I think I found my first req 7 axe at Augury Rock when it was the place to be. Was worth the 100k as I hear there are not that many of them around.

I started Playing GW1 in Dec 2005. Ever since my first time in Grenths Footprint shortly there after I've always wanted Wroth to drop his Yakslapper at my feet, Ive killed him a thousand times if once, not once did drop for me. A month or so ago I finally bought one, A Pre Nerf version even, in Kama, Tonight that SOB finally dropped at my feet, I didnt even see it drop either until I had picked up the gold on the ground. This is the one item in 189 months of playing that I've wanted more than anything in the game to drop. I'm sure no big deal to anyone but me!

Probably not exactly what you are looking for , it's a start.
Weapons (including offhands) can be dyed. However:
- Some skins will accept dye, but it affects no visible area.
- On other skins, the dye affects only a tiny portion of the item.
- Only three unique weapons accept dye: Straw Effigy, Torivos' Rage, and Traveler's Bo Staff.
Additionally, going to the skin on the wiki will show what dye does to that particular weaponApplying dye
causes the entire axe to change in color. The default color can be perfectly replicated using brown dye. Applying black dye almost causes the axe to disappear. Notes
And I just saw you were asking specifically about craft able weapon smiths, however can probably due the same as above.

My question is , what weapons do people find the most desirable?
I like the idea of a spear warrior for the rare weapons.
I've always been into the unique weapons in the game.
The axe and daggers look nice.
Any thoughts?

Is there an area in the game that corresponds to the place displayed in the character selection screen? Seems to me they'd not want to waste an area, so I'd guess it must be in-game, probably with a different sky and lighting to make it look different, with the high part there the character stands being an inaccessible area during regular game play.

Its really amazing that a game that is 15+ years old has questions still being asked about it. I put GW2 down in November of 2020 to check out GW1 again and for the most part havent been back to GW2. GW1 was a home run when it came out, would be cool if they could do a redux version with updated graphics engine and maybe some control tweaks
