Current tb cant open chests from far away right?
I believe so yes, this feature was removed in attempts to make tb less intrusive to the game. (less bot-like)

If you want to hit max volume of chests to look for q8 the nm pongmei will be your best bet, lots of neat factions skins there but this is pretty heavily farmed, there is also the plagueborn chest that can spawn outside of Kaineng that requires very little/no effort, and my personal favorite is the Elona Reach nm mission.

Runes don't matter where they are placed and since you are using all the same insignia there are no choices to make with placement. rule of thumb is you want to at least keep armor boosting insignias on chest and legs as they are hit more often. The only thing you should have to worry about is if you use a stonefist insig (I like to put mine on the gloves for thematic reasons but it doesn't really matter)

Yes, it isn't an inherent mod so you just need the Sword Pommel of Giantslaying then you can add it to any max sword you like
