I will answer the last question for you: yes it is possible. Just look at the amount of damage we have done on our own planet in the last 250 years (that is about the age of the USA), wars, poor farming practices, droughts, volcanoes, deforestation, typhoons/hurricanes... oh, yeah, it is more than possible!

as it is part of the password login, yes, it is wise to NOT list your ingame name on a forum, similar to not posting your password anywhere.
Yes, it is frustrating, if you need to contact someone---suggest a time to meet up or tell them when you will be available. If they dont get together with you in a goodly amount of time, you have the option to sell to someone else (or not sell at all--see sellers rights).

You can use the code, but you will not get extra nightfall stuff.
I have done this on my accounts so its easy to do...just go do 'add key' when you log in.
