Personally I don't try to recreate myself generally in most games. I did make a first main character to kinda represent me, but all the others where not me. And appart for my main in Guild Wars, I usually like to imagine characters. - maybe it's related to my interest in theatre.

I did - unconsciously ... made my ex girlfriend as one of my Guild Wars characters - and realized it later on.
I mean she was short, red hair... at least that's what I suspect, I know I wasn't thinking of it at the time, but I had broken up recently and it was my first true love. Because I never viewed the character as her I just brushed it off and see the character as their own.

thanks for the link to the study. I'm definitely interested in seeing the results. - unsure if I'll participate.

Wondering is MMORPG really will stand for; Multiple Men Online Role Playing Girls after this survey.

I'm not going to stop you from filling 50 pages with fantasies, but the company that would (eventually) develop GW3, is not going to take these into consideration.

Welcome IRL, that's my only thought for GW3.

Come on, share your fantasies with us.

I'd imagine GW3 would start occurring when we get a GW2 massive player drop.

Anyone have link to Active population for GW1 or/and GW2 ? I'm curious what it's been like, is like.

Yes, I think Extremely disappointed is the correct feeling.

I adored and still adore Guild Wars 1. I started at Beta and bought everything as it came out. When I heard GW2 was coming I bough the PC Gamer magazine about it, I was really hyped, in my mind it was going to be Guild Wars 1, but even better.
It was a no brainer to me, I pre-ordered, did all the hall of monument stuff.
Then I started playing Guild Wars 2 and something was wrong,...

After 6 months of playing GW2 I stopped and just admitted to myself, it's a huge let down and just not the same.

To me the game was inferior. (in retro-spec, it's just different)

And it was clear, I played guild wars one for about 6 years and #2 for 6 months. It was clear I didn't enjoy it as much.

Since I first played GW I've always returned to guild wars 1 at random interval, but not for GW2.

It's simply a very different game.

As for missing the past I think it's normal. I too have a huge friends list, and everytime I look at it there's no one on. My guild shows the last login for my friends and it's soon to be a decade. But you cannot live in the past. If you want to enjoy Guild Wars 1, best to make new friends and new experiences in it, and understand that time changes, people too and it'll never be the same, because everything you lived in it was a unique moment.

Enjoy what you have when you have it, nothing last forever and everything changes.

I've returned to Guild Wars 1 more seriously these days, and GW2 just to play with my kids, it's easier and more casual, but I accept it for what it is.

And like most GW1 players say; be happy you can still play the first one.

You know I just got this crazy thought.
You know how World of Warcraft has made available their earlier version of WoW, vanilla Wow.

I was just thinking, wouldn't it be cool if GW2 had some GW1 style servers. So in essence they'd reprogram to make 2 versions of GW2.
Imagine GW2 all played as GW1, but with jumping and parkour. - Yet still have body block, I find that was key in PvP fights. Walking through people is unappealing to me.

Selling on Nostalgia might be our only hope for a return to form to GW1. Generally speaking, creators look forward, not back. But I wouldn't mind a 2 for 1.
