Oh I remember MuDs, a bit before internet changed the world as we know it! While I wasn't that much into them at the time, it does bring back memories.
I've been tempted in a bit roleplaying in Guild Wars, but always found it hard to realize. I doubt it would work in a more serious roleplaying session, and dmost definitely not with everyone using thy and thee's lol. Sadly I never really got to try any roleplaying in Guild Wars. I think it could work if it's a bit more free and casual, no medieval words (hey, if the merchant doesn't speak thee and thy, why should I?). My take would be:
* Keep it casual, no overzealously strict rules.
* Avoid talking about things outside the game if possible, such that you got yourself a new Smartphone.
* Do missions but with your own twist. Build a simple backstory on why your team doing this mission.
Are you in search for something? Can all your team members really be trusted, or are they plotting something.
* Give all team members a personality trait (honorful, deceptive, paranoid, anxious, optimistic, ...) and let them develop their character around it.
* No long games, give new players a chance to join in on the "story" next time around so they won't feel intimidated to join something that lasted for ages. -
If I had the time, I would like to rewatch all the original Star Trek episodes, or possiblt The Next Generation.
Have to agree that the more modern Star Trek movies are more action related with a bit less story. I'd still watch them but they wouldn't mean more to me than any other scifi movies. -

The poster above me loves Trek. Perhaps even Trek-related cookies?

No replies? Sorry I'm late to the party!
I grew up with Star Trek and it surely affected most of my life and my choices in life. Both the original series as well as some of the newer ones.We could all get together and create some teams and replay the game again. Create some Nimoy/Shatner/Kelley/Nichols/Dohan/Takei, or other characters, or by their trek names.
Then we get together on regular "away missions" when enough people online
Away missions like "We crash landed in a strange alien world known as Fissure of Woe with extremely hostile inhabitants. Ship damaged but we discovered an alternative fuel source known as Obsidian Shards, perhaps we could harness this source of energy to get away from this dreaded place?". -
Late reply as I just joined the forum (used to be Bristlebane on old forum).
While it's a nice gesture to send Anet a "forget-me-not" appreciation, we have to remember something. Anet is not the Anet that made Guild Wars, most of the team is gone.In my opinion, we would need a bolder plan. Something along the line when using kickstarter to create a new Star Trek series using a lot of the original actors (another story).
Point is, appreciation should go to the original developers that made it happen. Ultimately even raising money on kickstarter or indigo to get (most) of the orginal team together to work on Guild Wars again with Anet's blessing. They already expressed that it was getting prohibitly harder to add new contents to the game, campaigns in particular. In my opinion a "remastered" Guild Wars would have been better. Something that could work with current servers, or perhaps a prequel. Taking all the experiences from the old days, avoiding mistakes that only can be avoided when doing things fresh while still keeping the spirit of the original game alive. With enough settings to allow older computers to run the game on lower settings, while high settings should cater to the ones with more modern hardware./Lexx (Bristlebane)
