Hello, Guild Wars 1 community!
I’m reaching out to you today because I know many of us share a deep love for what made the original Guild Wars so special—particularly the unparalleled thrill of Guild vs. Guild (GvG). It was the ultimate test of strategy, teamwork, and skill, and it gave guilds their identity and purpose.
For those of us who have moved to Guild Wars 2, or even for those who haven’t because of its lack of GvG, it’s clear something crucial is missing. I’ve started a petition to ask ArenaNet to bring back GvG in Guild Wars 2, and I need your support to show them how much this community still values competitive guild play.
Why GvG Matters to Us
- A Core Part of GW1’s Legacy:
GvG wasn’t just a game mode—it was the heart of what made guilds in Guild Wars meaningful. From the intricate team strategies to the excitement of fighting for a spot on the ladder or in the Hall of Heroes, it provided a sense of accomplishment that no other mode has matched. - A Competitive Void in GW2:
Many of us tried Guild Wars 2 and found it lacking the structured, guild-oriented competition that GvG provided. While it has sPvP and WvW, neither offers the focused team battles or the recognition that GvG delivered in GW1. - Players Are Hungry for GvG:
I personally know 15-20 players who won’t touch Guild Wars 2 simply because it lacks GvG. Imagine how many others feel the same way. Reviving GvG could bring thousands of players—both old and new—into Guild Wars 2 and give guilds a reason to thrive again. - A Low-Risk, High-Reward Opportunity:
ArenaNet already has most of what they need to make GvG a reality in GW2:- Balanced maps that could serve as arenas.
- A PvP ranking system that could easily be expanded to guilds.
- A player base craving meaningful competition.
Bringing GvG to GW2 wouldn’t just satisfy players like us; it would also attract attention on platforms like Twitch and YouTube, revitalizing the game’s visibility.
What We’re Asking ArenaNet to Do
- Create GvG Arenas: Dedicated maps for guild-on-guild battles.
- Add Ranked Ladders: A competitive system to give guilds clear goals and recognition.
- Host Tournaments: Regular events that reward and spotlight the best guilds.
- Bring Back a Hall of Heroes: A place to immortalize top guilds and their achievements.
Why I’m Reaching Out to You
The Guild Wars 1 community knows better than anyone how impactful GvG was. If we want ArenaNet to listen, we need to show them that even after all these years, GvG is something we still care deeply about.
I’ve already written to ArenaNet with these ideas, but we need numbers to make an impact. This petition is a way for us to speak with one voice and remind ArenaNet of the legacy that made Guild Wars great.

Let’s Fight for GvG Again
I know it’s been years, and I know some of you have moved on—but I also know that GvG was something special, something worth fighting for. With enough support, we can show ArenaNet that GvG is more than just nostalgia—it’s the key to reigniting the competitive spirit that made Guild Wars a legend.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you’ll join me in signing this petition. Let’s make our voices heard!
