A big update just went live for Guild Wars: Reforged, which dropped out of nowhere.
New game modes
The new game update introduces 2 new game modes: Reforged Mode (alpha) and Dhuum's Covenant (beta)!
Reforged Mode
Reforged Mode is a new way to play with new characters only (for now). It changes the way you play and has mostly effect on Prophecies characters. Upon character creation, you will be able to toggle on this new mode.
When you enable this feature, you will not only receive a new badge in the game - that all other players can see - but you will also gain 5% more XP and gold when playing in Guild Wars Prophecies.
There are also updates within pre-searing, as monsers will have lower health and armor when this mode is enabled. The Northlands in pre-Searing Ascalon has additional spawns.
The most glorious update to pre-searing is without a doubt the addition of a new outpost with Piken Square being a new unlockable outpost (only for Reforged characters), but you will need to get there first...
Next to that, henchmen have been retuned and have additional skills.
For multiplayer parties, all players need to be in Reforged Mode in order to see the new/updated content, otherwise you will only get old content.
This is an alpha feature, so expect changes to this mode to come often.
Dhuum's Covenant
Dhuum's Covenant is the other new mode and needs to be toggled on with character creation. It is ment to be the ultimate challenge mode in Guild Wars, where you want to avoid dying ever - remember, Dhuum didn't allow resurrection!
Characters with Dhuum's Covenant active also get a badge in game that everyone can see. Upon dying, you will lose the badge permanently but you can still play the characters.
Any titles earnt while you are under Dhuum's Convenant will have the badge in the hero panel, but if you lose the status, future ranks earned for that title will not display the badge.
Once again, this is a beta feature, so changes to it might happen and occur often.
Party size increase in pre-Searing
This update is for everybody - even for those that are not in one of the new play modes - but the party limit in pre-searing Ascalon has been raised to 4.
Choose the character selection and login screen!
You can now choose between the original Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall character selection screens, so you are no longer forced to look at the same screen you've seen for 17 years!
So, are you going to create a new character in one of the new modes?
About the Author
Hello, I'm Iaerah (formerly known as Kevin - which is my real name), the Guild Wars Legacy admin.
The reason why I switched my name to Iaerah is mainly because Kevin is so generic, and if I ever want an NPC named after me in game, I'll need a more creative name ![]()
Joking aside, Iaerah is also my main in Guild Wars 2 (I know, I know, shoot me - but I enjoy both games. Just don't see GW2 as the sequel to GW1).
I'm not only the Guild Wars Legacy administrator but also the founder of it, together with some other great people like Richey (who runs the Guild Wars: A New Hope Facebook group) and Max Borken. I'm quite easy to contact and generally spoken I reply quite quickly, but I have a tendency to read my notifications and forgetting to respond. If that happens, feel free to send me a reminder.
You can contact me using the contact form on this site, you can send me a PM here or you can mail me on my Guild Wars Legacy email (hint: it's my real name @guildwarslegacy.com) and I'll get back to you as soon as I can (if I don't forget ;)).
In game, you can contact me on one of my two main accounts: my mains are either Leanna Goldwing or Inquisitor Karinda.
In general, don't be afraid to contact me!
Do you have an idea to improve Guild Wars Legacy, no matter how small it might be? Feel free to let me know!
