As the title suggests, I think it would be beneficial for this game to have a sale, since it is quite expensive upfront when you compare it to most games, even though its quality makes up for this hefty price.
Not only that, but apparently there has been quite some time since the last sale this game has been through, so maybe that's something that ANet should think about.
I'm not well informed enough to hypothesize about the large scale of this, but anecdotally I can assure there's some friends of mine that are interested in the game but get stuck at the thought of paying 40 dollars (in our case, this is aggravated by the dollar-real conversion rate) for the complete edition, and maybe that's the case of more players that are just waiting for a sale in order to get into this wonderful game.
