Best way to learn which skins / mods are good or bad?

  • I've played this game as long as I can remember but I've never been into the collector side of things. Now that I'm a little older, sager and wiser (or at least the first), I've got more interested in it.

I was wondering if there were any tips and trips you use as you play through to make sure you keep hold of the things worth selling / owning? I'm finding at the moment I'm holding everything til I can sweep the forums and kamadan to find evidence of it's value. I feel there must be a better way of benchmarking in game, purely from a knowledge standpoint.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Changed the title of the thread from “Beat way to learn which skins / mods are good 9r bad?” to “Best way to learn which skins / mods are good or bad?”.
  • Honestly its just something you pickup with time/experience. It can be quite unintuitive sometimes. Double checking things on kamadan toolbox can be a good idea, just keep in mind that if you see someone selling something at a certain price it doesn't mean that they found a buyer.

Alot of things in this game are technically worth something (2-5 ectos), but also require you to sit in kamadan for days selling them to eventually find a buyer, in which case you're probably better off just making money playing the game instead. I'm thinking of some of the more niche weapon mods, q9 weapons with not very desirable skins, non q9 weapons with decent skins, things like that.

I'll try to give some very general tips though:
-For insc stuff, non q9 stuff is generally a very hard sell, unless its a very desired skin (BDS, obby edge, froggy, eternals, things like that). This is especially true for martial weapons.
-For OS shields/wands/foci, you can discard anything that's single mod.
-Non-max inherent mods will pretty much always tank an items value (20/19 staves, 14^50 on martials, things like that)
-If you can farm it easily its probably botted and therefore probably not worth much. Good dual mod shields/wands/foci can be a exception to this since it can be so rare just to get a good matching dual mod on them in the first place. But something like a 15^50 celestial sword is probably a very hard sell in this day and age, even q9.

In terms of which skins people like or dont like, its kinda hard to make a complete list, but if you look something up on kamadan toolbox and you see that a specific skin isn't being traded much, its probably a sign that there's not alot of interest for it.

    Hopefully that helps a bit

  • Thanks a lot!

The OS stuff is one of the areas I just never had considered. I doubt I've ever come across one worth anything but up to this point I wouldn't have been considering it either.

And agree on kamadan trade chat, its useful to see if stuff is mentioned but as a guide for prices it can be very misleading.
