Best inscription for martial weapons in PvE

  • Hi, Returning player here.

I'm wondering which inscriptions are best for martial weapons in PvE (in the general case).

I've read some opinions and it seems that 15^50 is very popular.

But if i'm correct it applies only on the weapon damage, not the additional damage from skills. Meaning it's at most +5% overall dps in the best case scenario.

Isn't +5 Energy better? Especially on classes with low Energy (Warrior, Assassin)

  • It really depends on your Party Structure I suppose...

If you have a Class that is more dependent on Adrenaline per say, instead of Energy then the 15^50 is going to be ideal. Because your build is likely focused mostly on DPS via Adrenaline (maybe some CC depending on your weapon), therefor that damage buff (unless I am mistaken which I very well could be) should be increasing the Damage Floor, meaning your lowest possible damage will increase, which is always a good thing with melee builds. Especially considering how much AoE melee classes can pull of these days (looking at all you Dervish).

Also, you have to keep in mind that thanks to the cleave/AoE that a lot of melee classes tend to have, your better off using a Zealous Mod (-1 Energy Regeneration / +1 Energy Gain on Hit) because you gain +1 Energy for every single proc of damage.

Therefor, once again increasing the Damage Floor (lowest possible DPS) still seems ideal. Using a Zealous Mod and 'Strength and Honor' inscrip at the same time kind of gives you the 'best of both worlds' so-to-speak.

Yet, on the contrast if you are running a VERY Energy Dependent build, and your Heroes do not have the ability to supplement you with Energy Regen, then it could very well be the better idea to bring 'I Have The Power' for that +5 Energy.

Also, keep in mind that you can add Energy to your Armor via Runes or Insignias (perhaps both, I always forget)

Anywho, this is once again just my personal insight on this matter. I am certain there are people here with far more knowledge that will be able to assist with actual analytics to back things up.

All the same, I hope this help!

P.S. Welcome back to the best game ever made! ^^

  • One thing about +5e on say a warrior, lots of warriors use warriors endurance as energy management, but, the skill has a cap as to how much energy it will charge to. Adding the energy mods makes you have a larger energy pool but low warrior regen for that last bit, no skill help.

In pve i use a +5e on my assassin sometimes if i'm bringing pain inverter just to have the extra energy..
