Trader price vs player price

This is a question mostly for the people who power trade as their primary hobby in the game

Im curious to how accurately you can get the player buy/sell prices of materials/ecto given the npc trader buy/sell prices. Obviously the player pricing will be within the npc prices boundaries, but how closely does it correlate? Especially nowadays where npc material prices are so volatile.
