I doubt it. If new people are coming to the game/more people are playing on alts, more than likely what is happening is what Green mentioned above. Mercs need runes on every character you're on + a new mesmer hero.

Yep, and I'd also love to see spears, scythes and Para shields. And that's coming from someone who already has an OS scythe.
Man, voltaic spears aren't worth a hill of beans anymore but I'd kill for an OS Q9 +5e...

Obviously they would never tell us before these updates occur on what they're planning to do, but I wish they would at least discuss their reasoning behind some of these decisions afterwards. I doubt it would change anybody's mind, but it would be nice to know how or why they came up with adding OS crystas to the drop table/insc items to the presearing chest/etc.

In my opinion, what could (should?) have been done with the dungeon chest/boss drops is this:
- Nightfall/EotN insc items (dungeon exclusives included, but super rare) that normally would not drop in Tyria or Cantha can drop as non-insc. Balthazar's weapons, Deldrimor, Imperial, and Oppressor's could've been added as well. That'd be a HUGE pool.
- A selection of Tyrian/Canthan-exclusive items added to the chest as insc. This is a little more difficult, since a lot of those items already drop from the zaishen chest, but there are some that do not. Amber Aegis and Echovald for shields, for instance. There are also one or two decent skins that are collector exclusive such as the Lotus Staff.
No new skins required, and instead of annoying collectors, it would've given people something else to shoot for. The first q9 15^50 Dryad Bow, 20/20 BDS, or -2/+30 Darkwing to drop would've had people in a frenzy.
Honestly that would've been pretty sick. Give me that OS Silverwing.

Nothing you stated in what I deleted added to any part of this conversation, other than to unnecessarily shit on him for what he said that I already called out for.

What many dont seem to understand: even if you reverse everything that is prenerf or currently limited, there will be always extremely rare postnerf drops that will be unobtainable for most of the players. Item-communism is not the right answer to reanimate an old game.

As for GW, I think if all q7 and q8 items dropped again with tiny odds, it could bring a lot of players to hunt for them (some short term and some longer), and maybe it motivates people to play longer, keeping the game alive. It would also help the dying collector community since more items would be on the market (Kamadan has been dead af for years). I would be more than thrilled — sure, these hundreds of q7/8 items would lose something, but it could make it possible to obtain more q7/8 that are not possible anymore, and at least for me that would motivate me to log in for another 10 years more than looking at an empty Kamadan.I agree with this and think it's a nice idea, the only thing I fear is that they screw up the drop rate enough to where it isn't a hyper rare drop.

These are some interesting opinions from both sides, just let's just remind ourselves that we all love the game equally and we don't have to get uncivil in the discussion. Everybody is going to have a different perspective and that's okay, at the end of the day it's going to be 2weeks that's going to be changing things mainly without our input.
