Once again devs are making updates to the game that is actually more damaging long term.
Why destroy an existing market? a better way of doing things is making a new market for new and old players, this lets everybody win.
New dungeon dropping oldschool shit wtf?, when we think of the pinnacle of OS, all veterans know Unconditionals, Crystallines, Dwarvern and Tyrian Serpents sit at the very top of this.
What's the point in making this new dungeon drop item's that were part of GW1's trading history, basically just destroyed 95% of the Cryst and Serp market.
A better way of welcoming new player's is to introduce *new* oldschool items through Renamed item's, that way you can still have extremely rare drops with the same skin's as above, i would even welcome them to drop req7/8's if that was the case, but no the dumb ass dev's that haven't actually played the game throughout it's entire history just casually goes and destroy all value the Vets and loyal player's hold dear to this game.
I logged in today and found out my OS crysta req10 15s perf is absolutely going to be worthless in a months time, if it isn't already, i'm keeping it for sentimental value but this game has probably lost me for good, i always try to login a few times a year, i think this might be the last time. Im sure there are many veterans of the game that are really dissapointed in the way the Devs have rolled out this update.
What's the point logging in knowing everything you've accumulated is no different from what some new player found in a starter zone. An item that was born 20+ years ago has now lost it's identity.
You've made some good points but unfortunately, the developers seem to have new goals with Reforged. I believe they are targeting a new and younger crowd rather than veterans or returning players. Hence the move towards mobile gaming as well.
It's possible that if ANet/2weeks reboot the entire item drop mechanics, most items will lose their current value but end of the day, they'll still shine as personal accomplishments. (Some of which, are truly hard to beat tbh...)
Personally, I doubt a reboot is likely but if it does happen, I guess I'll be able to finally complete my req 8 Summit Axe collection
That's really shortsighted, the amount of newer players that will stay compared to old/returning and current loyal players will be far less than the ones leaving.
I'm all for a bigger player base, but reintroducing certain items this way is going to piss off the players that have been loyal this entire time. As i said in another thread, this is like if WotC reintroduced indistinguishable power 9 cards back into the market and crashed it.
If they somehow reintroduced MORE pre-nerf items back into the pool, it will literally be the final middle finger to all old/returning/loyal players that kept this game pumping for so long.
As i said, there's ways to attract new players without sticking the middle finger to the past.
