Posts by Surge goes pre

While I can appreciate a short and succinct answer, I want to extend this line of reasoning.

If you're selling an item, Item A for example. In the last 24 hours, the bids for Item A jumped from 5a to 30a. You know all of the bidders in that period have earned their proceeds from botting. Do you sell it to the winner that bid 30a or to the bidder that bid 5a?

I don't think there are any easy answers to this question.

I think most people would take the 30a. The cynic in me thinks that if you sold it to the 5a buyer, many of those 5a buyers would just turn around and flip the item for 30a and pocket the 25a profit that you were too righteous to take.

If the difference was 27a or 30a, I think maybe you'd get some different answers.

Unfortunately, all items look the same, whether they are botted or not. It's not like the items that were botted have some way of telling you, like a big red "B" printed on them. If you won't purchase an item from a seller you think or know bots, someone else will. Some day down the road, that person will go to sell the item and at that point you won't have the slightest clue the history of the item.

For example. It's pretty safe to assume that 99% or 100% of the 20/20 Dragon, Platinum and Bo staves that have been sold in the past 24 months were botted. But I mean, what are you gonna do about it? Are you just never gonna buy a 20/20 Dragon, Platinum, or Bo staff unless you can pry one of the originals from the pre-bot era out of the strong hands of one of the few who still owns them? If they wouldn't sell them during the pre-bot era when they were worth a large fortune, they aren't gonna give them away now for the next to zero market price they are going for now relative to what they used to be.

If you are worried about bots, own items that are not bot-able. You'll be limited to items that are unattainable to most people. q7 max, prenerf, kanaxai/ig/panda, and a few other select items. But most people don't have this kind of luxury.

Yeah I've ran probably 7500 Vermin chests. The body blocking on the narrow paths is a little ridiculous. So are Bo Staffs similar to Dragon/Platinum? I'm confused because I saw a Dragon staff sell for 150e and people are PC'ing the identical Bo staff at 15a.

It feels like so much has changed these days with Canthan staves compared to what they used to be. As someone who at one point collected Canthan Staves, I remember a hierarchy post about canthan staffs in terms of rarity and price. Maybe it was on gwguru.

Back like 8 year ago, the hierarchy as I remember it was:

    Dragon

    Platinum/Bo

    Big Drop

    Zodiac

    Celestial

    Big Drop

    Plagueborn and Cockatrice

    Big Drop

    Jade, Amber, Others

But it seems like today that hierarchy is completely changed. It seems more like it's

    Zodiac

    Celestial

    Big Drop

    Plagueborn and Cockatrice

    Others

    Big Drop

    Dragon

    Platinum

What happened to Bo staff? Where does it fit in? Don't Bo staves drop from the same foes as Dragon and Platinum? Yet Bo staff seems to have held its value compared to the other two? I just saw a 20/20 q9 death dragon staff sell for 150e here. This is a staff that 7 years ago would have been a near priceless treasure. Yet, people are PCing a q9 Death 20/20 Bo staff at 15a? I thought it would have been more similar to the 150e Dragon staff that just sold. Is the Bo staff still valuable?

I think there’s something to the above - think how there was only one known r8 colossal scimitar for so long, even though chests that dropped them existed from nf release. Obscure chests/mobs with a low drop rate. Even now with extensive farming I think only another 3 have been dropped afaik, 2 of those quite recently. Perhaps a resident expert can confirm if my own knowledge is lacking here.

I still own the original q8 colossal. I’ve had it for at least a few years now. It will always be the greatest inscribable item in guild wars in my opinion. I know mine was #1.

I know Tramp Ollin owned it at one point. So did Coast Monk. Not sure who else got their hands on it overtime. I’d be curious if anyone else knows. But it’s in strong hands now.

Editing as this was combined with my other post before I realized.....

I think the moderators should ban this nonsense and potentially dishonest behavior here. It should not be allowed. It’s bull crap.

It takes literally 5 seconds for the seller to test the item for all the relevant mods people want.

It’s gambling with a casino that is potentially rigging the game against you on purpose and we don’t have a gaming commission to keep them honest.

Hello all. Some of you know me, some of you don't. But that's ok. Either way I decided to do some chest runs to max my treasure title (Almost there) and sell some pink sparkly things from those chest run. So here they are. I'm pretty reasonable, if you want an item, make an offer.

    Sold items:

    1. Cockatrice Staff q12 Earth 20/20 Earth: 130e

    2. Cockatrice Staff q9 Spawning, 20/20 Spawning: Sold to a friend for a fair price.

It takes a lot to make me log into legacy but holy hell this post did the job. If this is real, Wow.

It’s been said before, but do not sell any of these items to PM offers. I’d call many of these items priceless, or close to it. People are going to try to take advantage of you. I wouldn’t even tell anyone my character name.

That q7 +5e celestial sword.... kabong has a cousin now. If I owned that, there is literally not a single number of armbraces that would convince me to sell it. 1000a wouldn’t do it. Neither would 1750 frankly. But that’s me. And the fact that you have a 15^50 too...............,

Yes, Q9 war hammer 15^50 matchstick skin exists. My warrior is holding one right now. They can be hard to find, I'd call it rare. I don't think there is a good farm for them, pretty sure they are just an unlikely random drop in many places. Want to know something cool? At least one Q8 15^50 matchstick war hammer also exists. That is a true treasure, an under-rated rarity in my opinion.

Since I'm stuck at home because COVID 19 has shut down the country, I figured I might as well try to get to 50/50 HOM. In order to do that I need:

    Weapons:

1x Tormented Weapon (Any) - Please write your price and what item it is.

1x Oppressor Weapon (Anything but staff) - Please write your price and what item it is.

750x iron material - Please write your price.

2500 granite material - Please write your price.

    Hero Armor:

10x Primeval Armor Remnants - Please write your price and how many you have.

Thanks for helping Buzan finally finish his HOM.

Also if you're curious about his titles, 27/30. But during the double faction donating weekend, I will be able to max luxon with what I already have and I have the sweets to max sweet. So I need 1 more title.

Disagree. This is a basically useless and ugly staff as has been stated. But it's matching q9 20/20 and I am sure some collector wants/needs it. selling this staff for 20-40e would basically be giving it away. My guess is 250-500e++ if multiple bidders get involved. I personally wouldn't sell this staff for under 250e.

I will also confess like Kromp that I did not read the walls of text in this thread. But I am going to offer my opinion anyways. My opinion is that the price checking system is fine. It's dead simple. You post your item you want priced in your thread, and people comment with prices and other comments. What could you possibly want to change? If I came back to guild wars after 6 years of being inactive and posted a priceless item to the price check thread, I would want to hear that it was priceless. Likewise if I posted merch crap, I would want to know that. Or anything in between.

I don't agree with the idea of voting for price intervals. That doesn't work if the owner hasn't been playing guild wars for 6 years. The hyperinflation we have seen destroys all sense of rationality in prices and an owner from 6 years ago who had an item worth 100e then would have no idea that the same item is probably worth 100a+ today without being told in a price check thread.

Lastly, I also agree with Kromp that price checks aren't perfect. But you know what? That's life. Guild wars these days is such a sparse economy that there is a lot of variance in prices. So price checks by definition can't be very accurate. So we can get rid of price checking altogether, or just leave it how it is. Getting rid of the ability to use words would just be foolish.

I agree with Max. Please please please do not sell these to any private message. You are sitting on a massive treasure here. Especially the third item. That short sword is worth a massive fortune. My guess? More than 1000a for that sword. Maybe 2000+. That item will go for a massive fortune if it was listed for sale.

Lowballs are everywhere now and would love to steal these items from you for cheap. Again, Please don't sell to any private message offer.

Rare is beyond an understatement for these items, especially the short sword. It's probably the first uncustomized unconditional weapon I have seen in what 5 years? 8 years? It's worth a massive fortune.
