I have a +5e 20% enchant Katana I'm willing to sell. I think I saw one go for 25e in another thread, and I'd be willing to sell it for that if you're willing. IGN is Eronia Exumey - feel free to message here or in game.

Hi there, nice find. These items do not drop anymore in Q8, neither with inscriptions or without them, so they're definitely worth something. The wand is only singlemod (although the mod is ok), and the longbow doesn't have any inherent mod (naked/clean), so as far as prenerf items go they're on the less expensive side. I'd guess they'd go for somewhere in the 30e-80e range, but I'd wait for more input on exact values or put them up on sale and see what people bid. Definitely don't merch them though, as both are prenerf and don't drop anymore from anything in the game.

I have been doing this for like my whole gw life.
Recently, i started gambling with salvaging white items. I cannot say which option is better, i just don't have the time or data to create a working model. But in General, what I have noticed, is that unless the item salvages in the overpopular materials like wood, chitin fragments, leather squares, the value of salvaged materials is a bit higher. Lets say, you have a white sword, that sells to merchant (after ID) 80g. You salvage it and get 5 iron. 1 Iron at the trader costs roughly 45g. With this salvage you have increased your profits by 225 (iron price) - 80g (max value of he item) - 20 (use of a salvage kit) = 125g.
With blues it is a bit more tricky, because you have to id it, that adds 5g more and thus reduces your margin. Not much, but it is a honest work
It doesn't work for all the materials, but mostly you are looking for the ones in high demand like iron, dust, bones, plant fibers etc. .
A little tip to increase profits even more, use regular salvage kits for things that salvage into dust/iron/bones. They're (I think) 5g per use and guarantee you get iron instead of i.e. steel, which is usually higher profit. There are some items where the rare salvage is probably worth it for the chance, but for most items I think you profit more getting 10 iron vs. two steel ingots, for example, not to mention saving quite a bit on salvage costs.

As someone who recently returned to the game and has (likely) very different expectations about what my minimum/maximum would be as compared to someone extremely seasoned like Pleikki, I find it extremely helpful when a veteran gives an honest assessment of what an item is worth to them. The person asking for the PC has the agency to determine for himself or herself whether they're going to follow the PCer's judgment: maybe they set unrealistic expectations, try to sell for a high price, and decide (maybe in disappointment) to lower them rather than hold the item until it's sold for the value that the PCer has appraised. I find this to be far more just than the alternative (and probably far more common) situation of not getting an honest PC and selling the item to a shark who PM's the person a lowball offer and snags the item far-below its actual worth. Imo, let people decide whether they have the same opinions about their items as the people who PC them. Like SC Ele said, there are no objective truths about what items are worth other than merch value, and giving more opinions with more perspectives lets people make more informed decisions and protects them from people who would buy their items below-value.
