Well, I think for such items I agree to your statement. But there are still lower value commodities for which price checks are much appreciated by threat owners.
Also, there is a sense of utility itself by telling returning players a RoM and pointing towards auction.

I had three black dye drops in two days on my perma pre character. Had to escape death before I got to pick up the last one, but I still can't complain! Probably the sickest dye drop event in my 19 year gw history.
I got a double GHero drop in HoH. Then went back-to-back chestrunning in pongmei where I got a q8 20/20 Paper Lantern, and both q8tac 10demon/45ench GotH and Bladed Shield in a single run.
Sad, that I forgot to take screenshots.
