It is the first of April, and while you would expect some joke update notes, ArenaNet decided to surprise us instead with a brand new update for Guild Wars: Reforged, which includes the first new dungeon in over 15 years!
So, let us dive in what is new!
New dungeon in pre-searing Ascalon: Forsaken Tunnels
A new dungeon has been added to pre-searing Ascalon, exclusively available for characters that have Reforged mode enabled. Don't have Reforged mode enabled? No worries, later in this article we will explain how to activate it for your pre-searing character.
To reach the new dungeon, you will need to:
- Ensure that Reforged Mode is enabled
- That you have completed Accross The Wall (aka: the quest in the Northlands where you rescue Ben Wolfson).
- Search for Ben Wolfson near the Northland gates and wait until he offers the quest Bastion in the North.
- Complete the quest Bastion in the North, which requires you to battle charr and go to Piken Square. Keep Devona alive and clear out Piken Square and defeat the incoming waves. Collect your reward from Prince Rurik in Ascalon City.
- Return to the Northlands via the Northlands gate and travel back to Piken Square, which should now be an outpost you can enter (warning: all of your team members need to have Reforged mode enabled).
- Talk to Adept Mullenix in Piken Square and accept his quest. Travel out to the Northlands and try and find the entrance to the dungeon...
-
- There are 3 levels in the dungeon and each quest in the chain (3 in total, for now) will require you to restart the dungeon and you will be able to go 1 level deeper each time. There are 3 levels.
- There are new bosses and new reward items available.
- Once completed, the dungeon becomes repeatable.
- A post-Searing version will be added in the future!
Activating Reforged mode for an already-existing character
First, go to Ascalon City and walk towards the bridge near Sir Tydus, but walk towards the water. You will find a blue stone, the Shrine to Godly Accoutrements.
Choose Reforged Mode (Alpha) and confirm - you are now in Reforged mode.
A new hero: Devona
You will be able to get a hero - the first one in pre-searing ever. The honor for this goes to Devona.
Unlocking Devona is the reward for the final quest in the chain. Devona is a normal hero that has access to all unlocked skills, including those of all other professions.
You can also unlock Devona by visiting her in Lion's Arch (she is located near the exit to North Kryta Province), but you still need to have Reforged mode enabled.
Keep in mind that there are some strange things, like you being able to bring Devona as henchmen and hero to the same mission.
Guild Wars: Deforged
There is a new graphics setting available called "Nostalgia Mode" which will make the game render like a good old CRT at 800x600. This is a permanent addition to the game.
Play Guild Wars as it was originally intended!
Quality of life updates
Inventory management updates
You are now able to identify all items in your inventory all at once, provided you have identification kits in your inventory. To do so, open up your Inventory by pressing I and you will see a new button, Identify All.

Another update is that you can now transfer all crafting materials to your storage in one click. To do so, open your Xunlai Chest and press the Deposit All Materials button.
Finally, the Extra life Pets have been added to the game and Smiter's Boon has been buffed. Heh.
So, a very exciting update with a new dungeon and another one coming in the future!
About the Author
Hello, I'm Iaerah (formerly known as Kevin - which is my real name), the Guild Wars Legacy admin.
The reason why I switched my name to Iaerah is mainly because Kevin is so generic, and if I ever want an NPC named after me in game, I'll need a more creative name ![]()
Joking aside, Iaerah is also my main in Guild Wars 2 (I know, I know, shoot me - but I enjoy both games. Just don't see GW2 as the sequel to GW1).
I'm not only the Guild Wars Legacy administrator but also the founder of it, together with some other great people like Richey (who runs the Guild Wars: A New Hope Facebook group) and Max Borken. I'm quite easy to contact and generally spoken I reply quite quickly, but I have a tendency to read my notifications and forgetting to respond. If that happens, feel free to send me a reminder.
You can contact me using the contact form on this site, you can send me a PM here or you can mail me on my Guild Wars Legacy email (hint: it's my real name @guildwarslegacy.com) and I'll get back to you as soon as I can (if I don't forget ;)).
In game, you can contact me on one of my two main accounts: my mains are either Leanna Goldwing or Inquisitor Karinda.
In general, don't be afraid to contact me!
Do you have an idea to improve Guild Wars Legacy, no matter how small it might be? Feel free to let me know!
