As if bringing us two new dungeons and two new heroes in a single month wasn't nearly exciting enough, ArenaNet has announced that Guild Wars will be coming to mobile devices in a few months!

This is extremely exciting news, but also raises a lot of questions - I'm going to list everything we know so far.

What is Guild Wars Reforged on mobile?

Guild Wars Reforged will launch on Android and iOS devices this summer. This isn't a stripped-down spin-off, but it's the full Guild Wars experience as you are used to, with a redesigned user interface and control scheme that has been adjusted for mobile usage. The gameplay, quests and everything else stays exactly the same and mobile players will share the same game servers as the PC and Steam Deck, so you can also cross-play with mobile players.

It is absolutely possible to switch from your existing account on your PC over to the mobile version and play a few more minutes in bed, no worries!

If you own an Android device, you can pre-register on the Play Store page: https://play.google.com/store/apps/det…ldwars.reforged. For iOS/Apple devices this isn't yet possible but should this change, we will update this article here.

Free to play - what!?

The mobile version will be a free-to-play ad-supported version. Newcomers can download the full game and play through the entirety of the Prophecies campaign for free. The catch here is that free accounts will have restricted chat options (likely mirroring these from the old trial accounts) and trading will be restricted as well. You will also see ads on the loading screens (this was confirmed by a change in the EULA).

If you want to play the other campaigns and content, you will need to purchase these seperately:

  • Factions and Nightfall will each cost 6.99 USD
  • Eye of the North will cost 9.99
  • Bonus Mission Pack will cost 5.99

The free version does not include PvP access.

Purchasing these add-ons will go through the store on your mobile phone. Purchasing an addon will remove the chat/trading restrictions from your account.

Existing accounts

If you have an existing account, you will be able to login on the mobile version, but this will most likely not be the case for Steam accounts for now.

You can log-in with your existing ArenaNet account.

Existing accounts will not see any ads.

New mobile players

When you create an account on mobile, you will create a Mobile ID. You will have the option to convert that into an ArenaNet account later on if you want to play on PC as well or on Steam Decks.

Mobile IDs can, at his point, not link to Steam accounts.

When and where?

Testing will first occur in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the Philippines. A full global launch is planned for later in this summer. A precise date has not been given yet.

Once we have more information, we will update this article.

About the Author

Hello, I'm Iaerah (formerly known as Kevin - which is my real name), the Guild Wars Legacy admin.

The reason why I switched my name to Iaerah is mainly because Kevin is so generic, and if I ever want an NPC named after me in game, I'll need a more creative name ;)

Joking aside, Iaerah is also my main in Guild Wars 2 (I know, I know, shoot me - but I enjoy both games. Just don't see GW2 as the sequel to GW1).

I'm not only the Guild Wars Legacy administrator but also the founder of it, together with some other great people like Richey (who runs the Guild Wars: A New Hope Facebook group) and Max Borken. I'm quite easy to contact and generally spoken I reply quite quickly, but I have a tendency to read my notifications and forgetting to respond. If that happens, feel free to send me a reminder.

You can contact me using the contact form on this site, you can send me a PM here or you can mail me on my Guild Wars Legacy email (hint: it's my real name @guildwarslegacy.com) and I'll get back to you as soon as I can (if I don't forget ;)).

In game, you can contact me on one of my two main accounts: my mains are either Leanna Goldwing or Inquisitor Karinda.

In general, don't be afraid to contact me!

Do you have an idea to improve Guild Wars Legacy, no matter how small it might be? Feel free to let me know!
