Hello everybody!
This week marks the 4th birthday of Guild Wars Legacy - this sunday is our 4th birthday! It's been quite a ride so far and we're ready to give you some gifts and give you some insights into our site!
I'll go briefly over every part of our celebration:
Software upgrade
A week or so ago, we upgraded Legacy to use the latest version of our forum software. It has some major improvements all over the place and we're starting to make use from the new features slowly.
A technical look
We'll be publishing an article this week that goes into quite some details about how Guild Wars Legacy is being run on the technical side.
It also gives you an early insight into some future plans.
A brand new style
We have introduced a new theme, which some of you will recognize from days long gone - it's based on the original branding that Guild Wars Legacy had featuring Nika.
The new style introduces some new changes as well, which might be rolled out to our other styles based on your feedback.
The biggest change is that we're broadening the width of this style, as a test. It will use up a lot more of the available width, leaving less wasted space and making it easier to browse things.
Since most displays have gotten bigger, this change should be quite welcome. For mobile, there shouldn't be an impact.
The theme has also received a new font and we're still performing some tweaks here and there to change the look and feel of Legacy some more.
On mobile, you might notice that we've introduced a new favicon for Guild Wars Legacy - it should now be more easy to see that it's GW Legacy.
Be sure to let us know what you think in this feedback thread!
New user titles and trophies
Thanks to the new version of our forum software, we're getting some new toys. We're now able to add more fun trophies!
These can be automatically given to you and they can also be automatically taken away, so this opens up some possibilities for us..
I'll be introducing some of the new trophies later this week. Next to that, some new user titles will also be added in.
Updates in the Xunlai Marketplace
The Xunlai Marketplace is getting some updates as well - more details about these will follow soon.
This will mainly be around the rules concerning the Price Check forum, where we had a trial run of new rules. We'll be formalizing the new rules soon.
That's the main brunt of the celebration for now, but know that we are working on some more stuff!
Game on,
The Guild Wars Legacy Team!
About the Author
Hello, I'm Iaerah (formerly known as Kevin - which is my real name), the Guild Wars Legacy admin.
The reason why I switched my name to Iaerah is mainly because Kevin is so generic, and if I ever want an NPC named after me in game, I'll need a more creative name
Joking aside, Iaerah is also my main in Guild Wars 2 (I know, I know, shoot me - but I enjoy both games. Just don't see GW2 as the sequel to GW1).
I'm not only the Guild Wars Legacy administrator but also the founder of it, together with some other great people like Richey (who runs the Guild Wars: A New Hope Facebook group) and Max Borken. I'm quite easy to contact and generally spoken I reply quite quickly, but I have a tendency to read my notifications and forgetting to respond. If that happens, feel free to send me a reminder.
You can contact me using the contact form on this site, you can send me a PM here or you can mail me on my Guild Wars Legacy email (hint: it's my real name @guildwarslegacy.com) and I'll get back to you as soon as I can (if I don't forget ;)).
In game, you can contact me on one of my two main accounts: my mains are either Leanna Goldwing or Inquisitor Karinda.
In general, don't be afraid to contact me!
Do you have an idea to improve Guild Wars Legacy, no matter how small it might be? Feel free to let me know!
