Fort Aspenwood/Jade Quarry Activity

  • Afternoon all,

Getting back into Guild Wars proper and would like to ask the following:

Is Fort Aspenwood & Jade Quarry active? If so, what days & times (incl. time zone) are they active?

I used to use them for my Imperial Faction farming, so would like to get back into it.

    Thanks,

    Donut

  • FA should be active on the weekend when the community make events to play it, atleast it was this case few years ago. JQ should be "active" because bots farm the zkeys there afaik.. dunno if this is still a thing or not.

  • Hello everyone :cookie:

Something strange is going on at JQ recently:

I recently returned after 10 years of absence to GW 1.

Since last week wednesday around I suddenly couldn't enter a single JQ match anymore, wether on Kurzick nor on Luxon side. Tried it at both sides for several hours, it's just an endless repeating queue for me...

Before last wednesday, I could enter JQ Arena like every 2nd queue on Luxon side and like every 5th/6th queue on Kurzick side. So it was still very good playable - a lot of quite obvious bots were playing with you on both side - but hey, I don't really care^^ - They even actually held JQ alive and accessible for "normal players" on a regulary basis... :/^^

:?:Now I wonder: Do you guys recently have experienced any similar problems entering JQ? :?:

What has hapenned now? From what I heard and read, my theory for JQ so far is:

The bots are obviously not inserted by ANet or something like that, much more they are most likely "playermade-bots" in order to keep JQ alive (hopefully) and probably to obtain a lot of ZKeys.

Many of the bots were just simple PVP Eles with no secondary class, they often looked exactly the same (lol), played pretty much the same Ele builds and sometimes even had suspiciously similar character names.... :S

This leads me to the conclusion, that most of the bot accounts are owned either from a very small group of players, or maybe even from just one single person.

What do you think of this issues? :?::?::?:

    1. How likely is it that Arenanet banned those bot accounts?? I mean, they still were pretty useful, please bring them back ^^

    2. There seemed to be a very small GW1 update on 14th of November. Could that be a reason?

    3. What other reasons could there be, why there are suddenly no bot players in JQ anymore?

  • The "small update" was actually quite a large change. It changed the backend of gw and took away compatibility with certain older windows versions and changed the gw code. The bots are all written for the old version of gw pre update, and they all got broken by the changes. None are updated to the new version yet, and they're probably waiting in case other 'small update' hotfixes happen that would re-break any new changes.

Ahh, thanks for your answer Looney, that explains a lot. ^^
I only heard about the update in passing and quickly assumed it was only a small update.

Cool, so it's probably only a matter of time before Jade Quarry is playable again :thumbup::thumbup:
