Wondering what everyones thoughts are on the current state of GW1. Any changes or improvements that people think is needed?
Thoughts on the state of GW

In event pvp such a Dwayna v Grenth I see people come and go from the starting area with waiting very long. I think it would be helpful to be able to see how many players are waiting to start.

a dye overhaul could be good, a discount/bundle deal for name changes and make overs/storage would be wonderful.
I'd also love to see quests to have the new classes end up in pre, it would need a few quests added but could be really cool. -
Personally, I think the state of the game is in a really solid place. Still plenty of content to do in a variety of ways, especially with the 20th anniversary. Any changes would have to be minimal, but I have a few that I dont think would be a huge lift (probably wrong):
- For the 20th Anniversary, there should have been a Title introduced for all minipets obtained via NPC for 20th - something like "Minature Collector (1)" or "Dedicated (1)".
- Any more titles to add? Add a few more and we could have another GWAMM tier: Legend of the Guild Wars (7)
- Bring back Hero Battles (assets are overlayed with Codex Arena, but surely can make a new map location next to it, copy & paste job)
- For undyeable weapons (e.g. Tormented, Envoy), make them dyeable.
- Platinum Zaishen Coin (250x Gold Zaishen Coins + 100p + 50skill) - or add them to Gold Vendor. Extremely premium rewards. Ideas include locking #3 behind #4 (dyeable Envoy, Tormented, FDS as example), Permanent Essence of Celerity/Aos/GoM, Consumable Backpack (Heavy add-on 20 slots)
- Any more cape assets we can steal and add more options for? Colours, trims etc. leveraging assets already available from GW1 and/or GW2 in terms of shape etc.
Just my 2 cents.

Should ban botters and make the super rare stuff that only botters can afford worthless

Then remove anti farm code

Do we know what it does and how it works ?

Pretty much know what it does but not how it works, i invite you searching for all the discussions about it on google it is very fascinating, i wouldn't claim myself as someone that got true arguments, it's pretty much 90% of speculation knowing that Anet would never explain how it works because it was made to counter botting

What's there to think about? The game has been in maintenance mode for over a decade. ArenaNet has made it perfectly clear that, aside from a couple of employees doing things as a side project, and the anniversary additions, the game is "dead." There's plenty that can be added and improved in the game, but it's simply not in the realm of possibility unless NCSoft decides it wants to pass the game off to an independent developer who is willing to take on the burden of rezzing it.
Overall, the game is solid, and still worth playing after all this time. I still have content I have yet to complete in the game. But that's as far as I think about the state of GW. It's pointless to think any deeper about it because it just ends up being disappointing that it was pushed aside in favor of the inferior GW2.

Low effort suggestions to improve player count:
1) Increase GWAMM to 8 ranks (40 Max titles), at which point you get some unique emote.
(these are 38 easy titles that everyone can get)
2) Add 5 non-pvp titles to be able to hit GWAMM 8 without PVP, each tracking completion of an elite area in HM: DOA, Sorrows Furnace, Slavers, Underworld, FOW
(make ranks in each 1/10/25/50/100/200/350/500/750/1000)
3) Remove pvp titles (these are unattainable unless you bot)
4) Introduce a hard control against botting - IP ban once detected, to motivate non-botting players to grind content (a normal player currently has zero chance of even competing with a bot when it comes to gold/ecto/arms). Max one account per IP/location.
5) Make in-store features somehow obtainable in game (i.e. additional storage panes/bonus mission pack/mercenary slots). Somehow as a 1% drop from above dungeons, or maybe even as a reward for hitting max 40 titles).
6) Reduce Favor to 10 titles from 20 - The reduced playerbase means that we get favor 1-2 per day, this would be helpful.
This game is dead because players who are aware of botting know they have 0 motivation to grind for anything. Anyone returning to the game plays it for several months, re-runs DOA/UW/Dungeons/some quests a few times, then quits. One of the reasons Runescape is so popular, as an example, is because it takes like 20 years to max grind all skills to 99 and then you flex on people. GW 1 has lost this element (and people who bot can pay xxxx a to finish all titles fast regardless).
This game has such insane potential - the addition of the anniversary weapon drops literally boosted monthly player usage from 2k/mth to 12k/mth (6x). I would personally be happy to pay a monthly fee for a proper reboot.

IP bans are easily circumvented and have been proven to not be an effective deterrent against cheating and botting.
And with one account max per IP/location, you have just prevented normal, everyday families and friends from being able to play the game together, and people in the same household from even being able to have an account for each person.

Wait until you hear my most controversial idea - wipe the server clean and have everyone start from scratch.. same level of arms, no pre-nerfs, giving new players and equal opportunity to catch up to legacy players that have xxxxx arms stashed and just hang out in Kama.
I have a decent amount of arms that I've farmed but I would welcome a server reset if it means more players joining. This is common in the MMO world once a server starts stagnating to increase player count.
