Display MoreHello, I'm looking for some information on "OS" weapons. I know it stands for oldschool but I hadn't seen them being quite so popular since this last time coming back to the game.
My main questions:
Despite it meaning old school are people still finding them?Yes, oldschool, as it is generally used today, means without an inscription slot. For example, most drops from NF and EOTN will have an inscription slot and some random inscription in it. For the most part (there are a few exceptions), any drop that has an inscription can have an equivalent "OS" counterpart. OS items are generally preferred by collectors because they are harder to come by with perfect, desirable mods. But (with a few exceptions), they offer no particular benefit over an identical item with an inscription.
Where to people find them?Generally, OS items are found in Prophecies and Factions.
Where do people currently find q8/q7 gear?Max q8 gear can still drop (in any rarity). However, these are currently limited to swords, shields, and foci. Q7 max gear no longer drops, but may be obtained by trading with other players. Anything q7 max or q8 max (including but not limited to the aforementioned 3 types) is usually referred to as "prenerf." These are items that were found in game between launch in 2005 and sometime in early/mid 2006.
Do gold purple and blue items all have value?Possibly, but not always. Rarity, as far as font color is concerned, is not the only determiner of actual rarity. A certain blue or even white weapon could be far more rare than a gold one. (The answer to this question is mostly "it depends".)
Can oldschool versions of each rarity type, gold purple blue, all still be found in game?
Yep! Primarily in prophecies/factions.

i think what you wrote about prenerf is a bit confusing: anything that can be found today as q8 (swords, shields, offhands that still drop q8 as you mentioned) is NOT prenerf. depends a bit on the skin here because some skins dont get dropped by enemies in the level range for q8. however any q8 max wand, staff etc is prenerf since it cant be found today
That part wasn't as specific as it could've been, yeah, but we're getting into details that I'm thinking might not matter too much for OP. But hey I could be wrong about that. But yes, OP, to change my initial answer, if it's q8 max and not a sword/shield/focus, it's def prenerf. If it is a sword/shield/focus, it could be prenerf, depending on a couple different factors (skin, inherent mods, gold value).
