    Black backgrounds may seem "cool" in theory but they rarely work well in practice. It is the reason books still print dark on a light background. Our eyes just aren't geared for night vision in the end. Fine as a menu selection but maybe the default should be Stormcaller because I almost didn't come back here after the first look see cause I couldn't read the boards well at all and had no idea I could opt out of the dark on dark on dark look. Only found out cause I asked about it. How many posters do that? First impressions for first time viewers for a new site are important after all.

    So now I can finally separate the quotes and the messages and the posters and see the thing as a whole clearly. Now I feel comfortable and at home for the first time. Thanks so very much for replying.

    And Kevin not meaning to come down on you. I'm sure some people like black on black. And you have done tons of good work here and in such a short time. Props! And I love Stormcaller!


    Well, I've been working on a few small tweaks for the forums that should improve the 'read-issues'. The intention is that Stormcaller will get a 'toggle' between a light/dark version, as well as (hopefully) multiple backgrounds. But it's still in a concept phase, and what is online now is just something I quickly hacked together (after our current theme was installed).
    It won't be black on black, but this theme was the best I could find in a short notice ;). It all had to go quite fast. So I hope you'll like Stormcaller when it's finished. I understand that this theme can be quite hard to read... and don't worry, you're quite right to bring this up ;). I want this site to be for all of us!

  • Legacy Website

    The reason for this is because people are using avatars or images that aren't on a secure (https) location. The website itself is secure, but these images aren't.

    Unfortunately, this is no easy fix for me: it would require me to download all the images and host them on this server, or change the links to a https source (if there is one).
    But, don't worry - there is no risk for security. We don't handle sensitive data, and everything is encrypted. Your passwords are hashed, so they are stored secured.

    In my test on Firefox, all I got was a small warning (a warning sign at the lock), because this kind of issue isn't really such a big deal.
    You'll also notice that this doesn't appear on all the pages.

    In general - no need to worry. The reason that Legacy even uses https/SSL (the lock) is to make our site even more secure :)!

  • Problems with activation mails

    Okay, we have moved servers today (that's why we had the downtime), and I've worked on a definitive solution for the activation (and other mails) issue.
    This should be solved now and emails should be going to your inboxes instead of going to the SPAM folder.

    Hopefully this solves the issue that we had!

    Shasgaliel, if you can login, you are activated :)
    I manually activate any accounts that are in the queue, until this problem is solved. Working hard on it, but we're actually sending the mails - it's the receiving that's the problem, which is mostly caused by us being such a new website and us being marked as spam. I'm working hard on fixing this.

    We've been having some issues with activation mails not being received - we're looking into this.
    In most cases, the email is being received but being marked as spam. So if you don't get it, be sure to check your spam-folder.

    I'm also activating all pending activations regulary, so if you haven't received it, you're most likely able to login an hour later.

    I'm sorry for the troubles - I'm working on a final solution for it!

    Hello everybody!

    It's been a hectic few days, so I'm glad I can finally write this down.
    As you all know, we've only recently started Guild Wars: Legacy and we are still looking for moderators and people who would love to help us.

    Right now, we're still looking into how we're going to manage everything, but I already want to say these things:

    • All moderators from Guild Wars Guru will be guaranteed a special Moderator rank here. It will differ from the normal Moderator rank, call it some added prestige. We'll get these handed out soon - if you are a mod from Guru, please send me a PM so we can sort things out.
    • Secondly, everybody who wants to help us, be it either with moderating (though I think we'll have enough of those), programming (HTML/CSS/PHP/Javascript), content creation and what more - feel free to contact me using a PM.
    • Do you want to contact us? Feel free to send me a PM.


    For the rest, I'd like to say hi to everybody and call you all welcome. It's still a bit hectic, I'm doing the best I can, so sorry if we missed something, or if we don't respond at all, or if we haven't given you your Guru rank yet. We're working as hard as we can.

    Those are all good suggestions! First of all, I'm going to create a suggestions sub-forum!

    A new theme is in the works that will fix the black theme. We're going to get a light and dark version soon, but right now the focus is on getting the site running.
    I'll do a quick fix soon though once I can.

    I do intend to add gwBBcode soon, but it's on the to-do list once we've got everything set-up. I'll probably have to modify the code to make it work here, but I feel it's more than worth it!

  • Introductions Thread!

    Hey all, I'm Kevin (but that should be obvious!).

    I'm the technical guy behind this site, so if something mis-behaves, be sure to let me know!

    I started playing Guild Wars a few weeks before Factions hit. I still remember being in the store and picking up 2 games: Guild Wars or World of Warcraft. Which one should I pick? The choice was obvious, and I brought with me Guild Wars: Prophecies GOTY. Best game I have ever bought and I have never regretted it at all.

    I've made many friends in this game and it saddens me to see that my friendlist is mainly something from the past... I need to change that! I need some people to play a lot more with ;)!

    My main character is my warrio though lately I've been playing a lot more with my necromancer (which is my oldest character... I kinda neglected her for years... poor thing!).
    When I'm online, which is quite a lot, I'm mostly trying to max the last three titles I need for GWAMM (I never rushed to it, until only a year or 2 ago...). If you want to help, you're always welcome! :P
    For the rest, I just enjoy playing the game - doing missions, vanquishes, quests, everything.

    I just love this game!

    We aim to be a helpfull community, where you can ask all the questions you have. A site where you can try things - where people work together.

    Today, we only started the website, but other things are already being worked on, and we hope that you guys will love the things we come up with!
