    Haha Red is right, it is inscr. I am of the camp that a q8 Fell can drop OS somewhere, but as with most things drop related, Red is the leading authority and we need solid evidence to prove him wrong! Which I am sure he will be just as happy to see as he would knowing that he is in most cases right about what can and cannot drop :P

    I can't be the only one who has quite a list of skins - including all the hammers and bows - that they still haven't seen, despite being a few hundred gold items into killing angry cows. The caster stuff on the other hand isn't too hard to get (both here, or in the other good places) if farming for it.     I'd also point out that we haven't had a Soulbreaker yet either, and the only reported Sunspear I know of was from a chest. If Chance Encounter wasn't as good as it is, I wouldn't be surprised if the Japan shield proved equally elusive.

    If you exclude the Tolkano swords (which are clearly different, dropping at non-gold rarities etc) we haven't identified any location specificity for subsets of the promotional items that "might" drop in that campaign - it's like a creature either drops none of the new items or gives a whole heap (potentially all) of them.

    I completely agree with this. I think the Glacial Blade, and for that matter some of the other skins, have a lower weighting, and just drop usually, but we dont have the gift of ACE to help us get them. I've seen Glacial Daggers drop in Norn areas, and I have seen them drop in Shards, so they obviously arent linked to a specific area/mob. I think the same goes for Darksteel and of course the fabled blade too. I personally have got the Darksteel and Daggers outside Boreal.

    I have been using the peacekeeper and polar bear as examples within my own circle, but if you think about the drop rate of polar bear being 0.02%, if the blade had a similar weighting your looking at a 1 in 5000 chance to drop, which of course when calculated means you'd have to cycle through 23,000 golds (or mobs depending on how drop chance is calculated) in order to have a 99% chance of getting one. Either way thats a lot of golds/mobs. I personally can kill the Berserkers outside Olaf at about a rate of 100/7mins, and I get anywhere between 0 and 5 golds a run, sometimes a bit more. So lets assume I need to do 1500 runs to meet the 5k golds for the average drop chance, thats 10500 minutes of farming, or 175 hours of straight farming for the average chance. I mean its exactly why the polar bear is still so expensive after being botted to oblivion since it came out lol, because you can do it on like 10 accounts for the whole event and still not see a single one.

    do you by chance have an unid value of that quicksilver? and if not an ided value?

    looks like this made some more hopes for q8s of the new skins...

    Got this in Arbor Bay NM. Unfortunately, I was not paying attention to what level mob it was - the Redhand Simians in every group range from level 20 to level 24, however, from all the evidence so far, I am inclined to believe it was a level 22+. Still, if it is a mob coded drop table, a level 20 Redhand Simian could be the closest we have got to a potential source for req8.

    It was also req9 Dom and obviously inscribable, which is very nice :D

    Got Quicksilver from NM Shiverpeaks Chest in Ice Caves of Sorrow mission. Was attached to White Mantle drops, which I think as a good rule of thumb, we should document going forward. The chest loot table is loosely related to the mobs it spawns with as well as the area and type of chest. Could be that White Mantle (which can be found at level 20) can drop the new skins, or it could just be because it was a Shiverpeaks Chest.

    Not exactly exciting, but we need as many data points to narrow down if and where req8 can occur :P

    On a side note, has anyone tried farming Missing Daughter or Slave Spirits since the update?

    Thought this was interesting, since we need accurate drop research to understand if Q8 is possible:

    This is the first NM drop I have seen OUTSIDE EOTN. Got this in Barbarous Shore NM, although unfortunately the mob is level 22 so does not help confirm if the shields etc could drop req8.

  • 20th Anniversary Mini-Pet Impact Discussion

    The effort spent over the years to get such items was still spent and rewarded. The only impact to that is the owner or observers belief that the reward has value beyond the time spent (the reward has no intrinsic value since it cannot be legally exchanged for real world currency). Maybe you can be a bit salty if you bought a panda or IG within the last few years because of the crazy prices they got to, but thats the role of the dice. You buy a new phone as it comes out knowing that in a year or 2 it will be half the price of what it is that day. You invest in stocks knowing that they could tank at any moment (quite relevant I guess).

    Who cares about the market? Who cares about trading? Who cares about the economy? Its a freaking game. If you are getting into debates about morale's of doing XYZ action, you are taking this waaaayyyyyy too seriously, especially after 20 years. Players do stuff I dont like, I probably do things other players dont like, but at the end of the day, who actually cares? I will always enjoy this game, and if you need to have value in your items to do the same, it was never really the game for you.

    Just be grateful that a 20 year old game is still receiving meaningful updates even when its revenue probably doesn't cover its running costs.

    I owned a q8 inscr purple Crystalline shortly after the EoTN weekend, if I can dig out a picture of it I'll post it (unlikely - but do have some old HD's lying around), but I have never seen it or another one since I sold it. Bought and sold it in the Ascalon ID1 days, so its pretty ancient at this point. No idea if its still floating around somewhere or if there are anymore, also no clue where it dropped.

    Shoulda coulda woulda :P

    Battledepths - as I know its the only place to really target Darkwing's and Enamled. You could farm Drakes or Whisps, but I find the Whisps easier to farm, and as they are spread out further, the anti-farming code doesn't impact the drops as much as killing all the Drakes in one go. Still, taken me years of farming them on and off to get a max req8 rare skin. You wouldn't believe how many req8 command and motivation Reinforced Defenders I had to go thru XD

  • Loot Discussion

    From my understanding, the way the loot code was changed is that you get more drops per player in that instance with some variable of how big the instance is and how deep into an area/campaign it is. For instance, you will get more drops farming in the Jade Sea solo than farming in Kaineng City, and you will get more drops farming Underworld or FoW solo than either of those. Hard mode impacts this somewhat also.


    To get the most drops, you would have to run alts in the same instance to claim all "possible drops" (my belief is that the drops are there - generated upon map instance - just not available to the solo player in an instance. We can observe something similar to this when multiple tomes drop from a chest for one person). Some people believe changing spots with a regular rotation or doing a mission in-between helps to alleviate the loot scaling, and ANet have said something similar to this, but you will never see the same type of drops over a long period of time when comparing farming solo to farming in a team.


    Again its all speculation, players like Agent Chevy and Red Fireball are much more knowledgeable in this area than I am!

  • Unicorns

    I did over (if my memory and maths is correct) 20,000 runs of moddok split between NM and HM and never once got a max sword. I got many 1 off max tattooed (enough to have one for each character!), but that was it. From my experience, the only place these could drop are similar to the max colossals which AFAIK doesn't include moddok in the history of the game. Perhaps targeted kournan chests in barbarous shore or something would be the best bet? Never seen or had one though.

  • Sunqua Blades

    Almost certain that the Naga in the cave on noob Island would be your best bet (and just generally a good place to farm). I can't remember what town it's outside of but I'm sure one of the guys who still play could tell you.

    I think sunqua blade is in the jade brotherhood/am fah drop table, so if you run dragons throat you might find a q8 one after a million chests. AFAIK the drop table between early factions and late factions main island changes, so running jade brotherhood at matuu keep won't work.

    The tengu drop them too where people normally feather farm. Do that in HM with SOS or something and your bound to come across them between the drops and chests.

    I haven't played for a couple years so I cannot say these things for certain, but I have a horrible knack for remembering the most useless information, and it all relates to guild wars šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

  • Does it exist?

    I had multiple q8 Briar & Bramble blades while chest running at Barberous Shore. That's your best bet for those skins imo. I had a q8 blue Briar drop on noob island HM in NF but cannot remember how long ago that might of been so am unsure if it's still possible.

    In fact the one you bought came from me and Weeeeeeee chest running Barberous Shore haha
