eshield are only strength, but gloom can be both
the main reason to farm TopK rather than UW is, in UW you can only drop + undead mod, while in ToPK you can drop vs all proph creature mods (dwarf, charr, skele, tengu etc)

Pretty much know what it does but not how it works, i invite you searching for all the discussions about it on google it is very fascinating, i wouldn't claim myself as someone that got true arguments, it's pretty much 90% of speculation knowing that Anet would never explain how it works because it was made to counter botting
it does loot scaling, that's in the name 
but yeah, lot of speculations and no real clue

At this pace I average 1 chest every 1-2 minutes, which for this content it's not too bad!
Also. I assume you are farming it with a ranger, which is so consuming moneywise

In UW related chests (spawned by dryders, dream riders and chained souls), there's nothing added to replace shields drop rate
Without being rude, there's value in low req max damage items
For sure it''s a niche market, but definitely worth more than the merchant buyout
Max dmg *for a q5 bow* is 13-22
It doesn't change the price.
