I didnt further test this and this is just what i thought happened:
When using vampiric weapons the heroes dont realize there is damage taken somehow and wont start healing you. Reason for the rit healing you first could be that the aoe heal spell is a 2 instance skill (casting the ash and dropping it) and will automatically drop at some point eventhough the hero doesnt notice the healing is actually needed.

well, i didnt see many getting sold on here and while throwing arms left an right at some way more common stuff, i can see me throwing 20a on this ogre slaying knife. this might not be the most rare prenerf green - maybe even the most common - but the item regardless of being prenerf has a greater fanbase than most of the other green items.
good for me if no "bidwar" gets created, but i wouldnt call me out of i wanted it and sb offered 15a
id value the ogre slaying knife higher. would expect 20a min
