Need help with gearing, builds, and guides for leveling

  • Are there any sites that help a player with builds, gearing, and class combinations for leveling up while using henchmen? I've tried looking at PvXwiki, GuildWars Wiki (guildwars.fandom site of GuildWars Fanfic Wiki), the official wiki site, and Chompie's page on the official wiki site but they are to be desired to say the least. The PvXwiki for the most part only gives builds for class combinations you've already selected in terms of secondary professions, builds for endgame farming, or beginner guides that on the pages specifically state they are "outdated" and refer you to the official wiki for builds & recommendations. The GuildWars Fanfic Wiki just tells you how each class interacts with secondary professions without any recommendations for stuff. The official GW wiki oddly enough has recommendations that it says are outdated or refer to PvX & the Presearing site which obviously only has information for the core game classes and only for pre-searing information on top of that.

So I need help with class combo recommendations, gearing (weapons and runes & insignias to use for those class combos), builds (skills, spells, etc to use), and guides for leveling. I'll be using henchmen to level up. I do have all of the the campaigns available (Prophecies, Nightfall, and factions along with Eyes of the North). I have 11 character slots and have created one of each profession in various campaigns so I have one of each profession primary with one left over for possibly a PvP character if I choose to do that later on down the line. I would love help with all of this.

  • You can switch second professions, skills and attributes as many times as u want with every build later, and as u progress u can buy different armors for different builds.

My advice is just choose someting thats fun for you to play, you Will level up to max and progress in no time and you can try out different things then later on :)

Imo best part is to try out different skills and random combinations While learning how the skills and the game system work

  • Some of my personal opinions:

    1. Leveling suggestions: When you get to lvl 10, do EoTN first (or at least until you get Xandra and Livia, which are very helpful heroes), then proceed to Nightfall, and then Factions or Prophecies. This way you get heroes early on which really speeds up the gameplay. Before getting to EoTN, characters from Factions level up pretty fast by just doing the primary questline, so I would start from there.

    2. Progression suggestions: On a new account, the first goal I would set is to beat all campaigns once (preferably on a single character). This way you gain access to hard mode, most skill trainers, and bosses with elite skills. Heroes on other characters can use all skills you've unlocked account-wide, so you will have access to end-game hero builds on your second character immediately, which really helps if you plan to beat the game many times.

    3. Build suggestions: At first only a handful of skills will be available, so just try them out. Use the highest damage skills you have and don't worry too much. As you play through the game, you will find which playing style you enjoy the most. Get BiP on a necro hero early on, and you can try out more energy-demanding builds. I actually use the same bar for all the professions (yes even on a warrior)

I also love "fall back" on heroes to go through the game faster.

    4. Help suggestions: Consider joining an active guild (such as Lgit), people are usually friendly and helpful. Helping and showing others around is a very fun part of the game (at least for me) :)

  • The beginner team build + upgrade path towards the meta team build on pvx still works well. Following that and getting familiar with your own profession while getting semi-carried by your hero team is still very efficient no matter the outdated status on pvx.

Weapon and armor details matter very little while levelling (aside from damage output on the weapon and base armor, for which you always want the max asap from either crafters or collectors). You can care about that much later when you have a better feel for things.
