Updates to Price Check and Selling boards + auto closing of threads

  • Hello everyone,

I've just put some new features live that were made possible by calincalin!

These new features are ment to make the trading boards easier to use and to keep threads honest. These changes are only live on the Price Check and Selling boards, but let's go into some more detail about each.

    Changes to Price Check

One wish we received from users was to bring back upvotes - these were disabled a while ago due to griefing, but we have worked towards another solution here and this is now live.
I'll let calincalin describe the changes himself:

    Quote

    - Every reply now has a thumbs-up button. If you find an estimate helpful or accurate, upvote it. Click again to remove your upvote. The count is visible to everyone, so the most trusted answers stand out. You cannot upvote replies in your own thread, or your own replies.
    - As the thread author, you also get a Thanks button on each reply, to mark the ones that answered your question.
    - The first post of a thread can no longer be edited once posted. You get a warning before posting so you can double check. This keeps the item being priced the same from the first reply to the last. If you made a mistake, reply to your own thread with the correction, or ask a moderator.

    Changes to Selling

The changes to the Selling board are more aimed to ensure that a trail of posts and bids is now possible to maintain.

This is how the changes work, again described by calincalin:

    Quote

    - Replies on Selling can no longer be edited once posted, and you get a short "reread before posting" prompt when you reply, including from the quick reply box. Offers stay exactly as they were made.

    - If you need to walk an offer back, use the new Retract button under your reply. It posts a new reply quoting your original with a red "Retracted" header. Nothing is deleted, so everyone can still see what was offered and when it was withdrawn.

As usual, moderators can still edit posts on both boards if needed.

    Auto-closing of threads

We've now set up things so that posts that are posted in Price Check, Selling, Buying, Services Offered and Services Requests, Giveaway will now automatically be closed if no activity happens in the thread for a while.
The amount of time before this happens depends on the boards themselves.

If you notice any bugs, feel free to let us know here so we can go ahead and fix things.

Once again, my eternal thanks to calincalin for developing these nice additions to Legacy!
