This Guide was created by Misty but due to some formatting issues meant it needed to be re-published.

Nicholas the Traveler is an NPC that collects different items each week. In exchange for these items he will give you up to five Gifts of the Traveler per week.

    • Players will buy the Gifts for around 4 or 5 ectos each, so farming them is very lucrative.
    • Opening the Gifts yourself and trying to sell the contents is usually less profitable, so don't do this unless you enjoy gambling!
    • If you are unable to farm the items Nick is looking for, you can still mkae good money through buying the items from other players, turning them in to Nick, and selling the gifts.

That said, it's not too hard to set yourself up to farm each item. There are videos out there for each individual farm [Reborn's Video Series], but really you only need a handful of different builds to farm all 137 different items Nick seeks.

Choose the appropriate build from the ones below and have some fun farming.

    Vow of Strength Dervish

    Key Skills

For enemies without dangerous spells, Vow of Strength Dervish is great. VoS and Sand Shards provide sustained AoE damage.

    Counters

The main counter to the build is enchantment removal, since you are reliant on your enchantments for survival as well as damage. Cover enchantments can be effective, but you also have to worry about interrupts, hexes, and simply taking too much damage.

    Build

    [build=OgCjsysaKOfbzL7FAAAAAAAAA]

    Additional/Optional Skills for Solo Farming

The PvX page linked above is aimed at general PvE rather than farming, so here are the other skills you should be considering.

[Eremite's Attack@9] Eremite's Attack hits all adjacent foes, triggering VoS on all of them, making it exponentially more powerful.

[Staggering Force@12] Staggering Force is a good choice for a feeder enchantment because it applies cracked armor, magnifying your damage.

[Conviction@12] Conviction is a good alternative for areas with annoying conditions.

[Ebon Battle Standard of Honor@5] Ebon Battle Standard of Honor adds armor-ignoring damage, allowing you to farm high level foes.

[Mirage Cloak@12] Mirage Cloak has an extemely high block chance, allowing you to tank a lot of attacks. Combine with Extend Enchantments to maintain it.

[Veil of Thorns@12] Veil of Thorns significantly reduces incoming spell damage, allowing you to tank most casters.

[Armor of Sanctity@12] Armor of Sanctity effectively shuts down incoming melee damage.

[Death's Charge] Death's Charge gets you out of bodyblock, heals, and easily jumps to the centre of a ball.

[Drunken Master@5] Drunken Master increases both your movement and attack speed; moreso if you use alcohol.

    Whirling Ranger

For large numbers of enemies with ranged attacks, a Ranger with Whirling Defense can be ideal.

    Key Skills

With enough foes attacking you, [Whirling Defense] Whirling Defense will deal a lot of AoE damage over time.

[Shadow Form@12] Shadow Form removes the threat from spells, and [Shroud of Distress] Shroud of Distress is sufficient protection against most attacks.

    Disadvantages

The downside is that Whirling has a fairly short duration and a very long cooldown, so you need plenty of ranged aggro to guarantee you can kill the enemies.

    Build

    [build=OgcUcXs5lPP8Id2BEAAAAACnjD]

    Obsidian Flesh Elementalist

Against enemies without dangerous attacks, an Obsidian Flesh Elementalist has extremely high damage potential.

    Key Skills

[Obsidian Flesh@12] Obsidian Flesh removes the threat from spells and [Stoneflesh Aura@12] Stoneflesh Aura neutralises any remaining damage.

With enemies unable to cast, [Wastrel's Worry@12] Wastrel's Worry and [Wastrel's Demise@12] Wastrel's Demise are free to deal huge AoE damage over time.

    Counters

Unfortunately this build is very vulnerable to attacks; interrupts, stance removal, health degen, and just too much damage can easily get you killed.

    Build

    Vow of Silence Dervish

A more resilient build is the Vow of Silence Dervish.

    Key Skills

[Vow of Silence@10] Vow of Silence provides spell protection and [Grenth's Aura@11] Grenth's Aura steals enough health to keep you alive.

    Disadvantages

The biggest disadvantage is that for general use, the damage is not as fast as other builds.

    55 Monk

A popular but somewhat outdated farming build is the 55 Monk.

    Key Skills

Having low health and using [Protective Spirit] Protective Spirit effectively removes any danger from damage, so you can tank as many enemies as you want, with a free Elite Skill and other optionals to kill them.

    Counters

This is entirely dependent on Protective Spirit not getting stripped; in areas with no enchantment removal, Vow of Strenth may be a better choice anyway. Still, the effective invincibility and opportunity to use this on any character with secondary monk can make this a nice choice for some farms.

    Flashing Blades Assassin

Against small groups of melee enemies, a Flashing Blades Assassin Dagger Spam can excel.

    Key Skills

Spamming the [Jagged Strike] Jagged Strike -> [Fox Fangs] Fox Fangs -> [Death Blossom] Death Blossom attack chain deals exceptional single target damage, and the build has room for plenty of defensive optional skills.

    Counters

The greatest threat is having these defences removed, or simply taking too much damage from the enemies before you are able to kill them.

    Spirit Spammer

The most popular general farm build, and the default for most farms, is the Spirit Spammer Ritualist. Spirits provide not just a continuous barrage of single target damage, but also several distracting bodies for you to hide behind so your enemies don't kill you. Spirits are immune to hexes and most conditions, so their only real counter is damage, but they can easily be healed and moved out of harm's way, or just replaced if they die. The real drawback is that spirits strictly deal single target damage, making them relatively slow, and sometimes incapable of overpowering healers.
