But some raise sadness - for things that got nerfed, bugs I missed witnessing - mainly the few areas that could earlier be mapped but can no longer - like the proph arenas or the part during the amnoon/la flooding bug.
Yes, but at least the """"good"""" thing is that those areas are still in the game, but only available to access with developer account powers (which are a server thing).
Some of the arenas can be accessed to see them with GWToolbox, because they are part of the map of the city itself to which they are merged (like the Amnoon Arena), but others are isolated maps and the maps are incomplete unless you enter the arena itself (Fort Koga arena).
For example, the outpost of the famous Fort Koga arena it's still there, but incomplete and locked with giant roots (entering from Henge of Denravi), but the preview map can still be seen with the free camera mode.

As some of you know, I am a fan of the "History" of this game even though I never got to play the Betas, I contribute in updating the photos of the wiki when I have time and I have tried to contact some old players to try to discover how certain things worked in the past (although with this I have not had much luck because the game is practically dead). I still have pending to create two or three new pages in the wiki compiling the info about some things discussed here in the past months about old weapons (that I will probably do at the end of September), etc.
Some of the sources:
https://www.gamepressure.com/games/screenshots_list.asp?ID=1547
https://www.tendocity.net/showthread.php?tid=7147
https://blackfalcongames.net/?page_id=1174
https://www.angelfire.com/games5/guildwarz/infopage/
https://www.angelfire.com/games5/guildwa…um/info-map?i=0
Anyway, I've been searching and saving old screenshots of the betas from various portals, webs and forums (some of them using the Wayback Machine, where I found old pictures of the Ahmtur Arena -in bad quality though- with the names of the players in the group, despite I've never seen any of them online again) and I thought it would be nice to compare a little how the change has been when Kyhlo was remodeled to what is now Ascalon City. There is not much content available on internet, but less is nothing.
Album: https://ibb.co/album/7QQbmG
* Think that some of them are my own interpretation of what I think it was before, keeping the base map but modifying the landscape.
* The last picture, Kyhlo's main square/plaza, is a combination of our current Ascalon and Lion's Arch, I merged both pictures trying to recreate it.

Prophecies here too. Also thanks to GW I discovered Jeremy Soule and since then has become one of my favorite composers.
More than missions themselves, my favorite areas are the Magumma Jungle and Crystal Desert for all the history it contains, I'm fan of Egypt and its forgotten history, so any landscape with sand, dunes, buried things, symbols in constructs, lost buildings, etc, is beauty in my eyes.
One thing I like a lot of Prophecies is the progression/transformation between maps or zones. For example, I remember arriving at Ventari's Refuge for first time and we know is not Magumma yet, but you start to see traces of it.

Amazing, thanks for sharing this piece of history Scryb Ranger

Also because except the Tengu mission, the other ones are a pain in the ass.

Clean as always
It would be cool too to take screenshots with weapons and skills or poses, there are plenty of possibilities. It's a pity that many of the photos that were in GW Guru were lost because they were uploaded via ImageShack, when they did the mass cleansing almost half of internet pictures were deleted, many forums ended empty.

Another chance to enter the Ahmtur Arena destroyed. Tears of sorrow ~~

I'm gonna ask the redundant question: if you played the first weeks of the release, do you remember by ANY chance something about the Brick of Mud or Clay Brick? It's a mystery that remains unsolved.

I was wondering if it's possible for ArenaNet to create a "GW Classic" like Blizzard has done with WoW (in this case, playing the game before Factions like in the first two months of the release) using a backup or image of the game from 2005.
I remember reading countless times that many of the code of GW is hardcoded and can't be changed or it's very difficult. I don't fully understand this since I'm not videogame programmer/designer, but in computing everything can be changed, it's a question of knowing. They have said many times that the character loading screen cannot be changed for something related to this, so if they can't even change that, I don't want to imagine what a mess the inside of this game must be. Too bad there is no developer left to talk to, to explain a few things.

We all dont know how many secrets are still around, but this is why we love it.
Counting on what ArenaNet has done with the game? Zero. Where each update seems more like a penalty than an improvement.
I still remember in 2005 how they did the marketing for this game. It was something like: "Join forces with your friends, combine a large number of skills to pass the challenges and be the best of all." (like Pokémon and that shit, and we know very well that Nintendoesn't give a shit about anyone
and it's pure facade).
And how this was after actually, of course: "Oh, a player discovered a way to do <something> using the system that we have created and that we support/encourage them to use. LET'S FUCK IT!! ejjejejejeje xdddd".
There is only 1 way to discover things in this game: 1) Discover it. 2) Shut up about it.

Got mine a few minutes ago.
Big thanks to Matthew Moore to acknowledge the existence of the weapon, to Endarkks Ziatri for being the first one to discover it, and to all the people in Discord and Reddit in this burning and passionate time trial hunt.

Congratulations to Endarkks

After reading everything including the Discord, I have only 1 concern: is not strange that no one discovered this when the gw.dat was dumped entirely finding all the discarded content like the old gods (Arachnia), etc?
I say this because, perhaps, the hidden weapon is not necessarily a "new" weapon, only a normal quest reward weapon like any other, but hidden. If the weapon has a different or exclusive name like a green from a boss, then when the gw.dat was dumped someone should have seen it.

This is the quality content that I needed again to awake the interest for this game, I quit in 2011 and returned in 2019 or so, so I've skipped almost all of this. I'm going to read it all carefully, thanks for the summary.

The weird part was I was spamming for this specific item. Convienently a few days later hes selling one obviously to try and get me to bite.
I know one in particular doing this shit almost every day of the week. Not the same user, but just as idiot.
