zippy boy and post it in the gw drama section. Anyways let’s get back to the topic. I’m excited to get myself a mkg
As excited as my first rank 6 on a character... get it, then 1 hour later we move on. I mean, it's how you get it that's important. When it comes to skin of minis , if they were all free, some players would switch. (Too few minis have special animation when they move).
I’ve always liked pairing minis with professions, islandguardian ranger, mkg necro, grawl warrior, kuuna sin, the list goes on. But among my favorite are the Aatxe, jungle troll, siege turtle for standing in lobby at For aspenwood, and of course the OG chard shaman. It’ll be nice to complete my dream pairing of minis without kamastanding for the next 40 years though!
For reference, they do indeed exist.
How long ago did you screen this one? I saw one in trade with a different gold value recently.
Way to be a debbie downer...... RIP minipet market
I don't think so. It is a proven fact that socialism has never worked in the past, and it always ended in a failed state. This update is pretty much the same approach, in an in-game economical sense, since, unlike many other online multiplayer games, Guild Wars is set with a very unique trading system which requires items not affected by inflation, which is now being taken away with that update. Even if this type of economical transformation wasn't intentional by ArenaNet (Let's assume it wasn't), it was ultimately thanks to it, that led to the amazing game that you like so much today. They may never admit it, but ArenaNet eventually began to realise and intentionally used it to their advantage.
Minipets over the past few years have just been a colossal problem, it fed directly into RWT heavily and they were constantly, and consistently being sold on the black market. This hasn't been the case with other valuable items for the most part. I think it was just addressing something that was a long time coming, much like adding the 7th year presents with previously rare minis because of the duping problem and inability to ban every account that participated. The brink of absolute abuse by a select few, who controlled the market and sold them as they pleased, some of which could have been old duped ones from an un-banned account. Anyways, it hurt a select few innocents, which is very unfortunate, but everyone can agree it had gotten out of hand.
Display MoreYou folks are all excited about the updates, but will your excitement continue to last, when almost everybody will run with the same formerly "legendary" pet as you?
"Look man, I've finally got a Kanaxai!" - "Yeah, me too!" - "Oh no, looks like everyone has it now..." - "Hey, where is your Kanaxai?" - "Well, I am not using it because don't like it anymore."
It is human nature to aim for something that not everybody can get their hands to that easily. This update is going to take a major part of that away from everybody because those pets meant to be something special for a reason, when they were given out only to the players who truly earned it in the old days during the PvP contests. You may realise this sooner than later, and then we will see how much longer you will continue to like the changes.
I personally don't care, since I stopped playing Guild Wars some years ago, but it is worth noting that Guild Wars doesn't have much to offer anymore that credits fame or excitement. The whole excitement of finally getting your hands on those pets will be nothing but a shadow of the past.
So this change is unusual for ArenaNet, since they realised it was a mistake with the asia pets back in the days during the 8th anniversary already - hence they never repeated this mistake ever since (up until just recently that is). So this step of giving away the most famous items out for such trivial things like clearing hard mode missions makes me wonder, if this is just an attempt to allow players gather all the last good things that the game had to offer just easier, to make it less impactful when ArenaNet finally announces the shut down of the servers with their next step.
I guess, only time will tell.
Way to be a debbie downer...... RIP minipet market
Except this doesn't really address the underlying problem. Now the RMTers will spend money on gold trims, rare weapons and in game services. The bots will still operate and people will dump money into other things.
Perfect! Least there will still be a trade market of some form. Not everyone was an RMT'er like ACWhammy mentioned. Many did things the right way also. I feel for them 2bh, only basically to be screwed by anet. they sure showed everyone who's boss hey!
So question now is what to use for big in game purchases since minis are now trash? there will be no way to do large trades unless it's done by RMT. Many used pandas, IG, MKG ect for higher end trades.
In reality anet didn't solve anything but screw over the loyal players for the last 25 yrs & give free stuff to everyone that left GW long ago. Thank you anet! your the best!
mate, again, its not 25 years......
A q10 15^550 Great axe, it's forever eluded me
Ill keep an eye out for ya
We dont understand xD
That is ok
Display MoreThe real problem here is that there were legitimate players who spent years farming and grinding to afford these minis through honest means. All of that effort is now wiped out overnight.
Maybe instead of devaluing everything, we address the real issue: the rampant botting that has infiltrated nearly every part of the game.
It seems I have a kindred spirit here. Some of you remember when I wrote a petition to Anet regarding banning the bots and RMT'ers. I got a lot of flak for that. That's when I realized that it was an unwinnable battle, as most of the game's community supports bots and RMT because "without them the game would die" to put it in their words.
Many also know that I was a victim of a massive hack in 2013 where my NC Soft account was hacked. I lost all of my high end undedicated minis (Kanaxai, 4x MKG's, EL Reindeer, etc, etc.) that I earned through legitimate trading over 6 years. Since then, I've never been able to catch up back to where I was, as the RMT'ers and bots can ALWAYS outpace players that are achieving things in game legitimately.
I've always stated that the #1 update I'd like to see from Anet is banning cheaters. For some reason they can't or won't do this.
I don't know if this update is meant to be a soft fix on RMT or not, but I agree that the RTM'ers will just move on to the next big things that make them money.
Another thing to consider is the owners of these untradeable minis. Two types exist - ones that still value them and others who see them as lost value. The ones that see the lost value most likely will try and liquidate those assets to reallocate their investment elsewhere. I can't blame them for trying to get as much value as possible, as would anyone else in their position. Hopefully in these rounds of liquidations, the minis end up in the inventories of people who truly appreciate the collecting rather than RMT and profiting.
As far as the current owners of the minis. I imagine that there are very few in the hands of people who did not RMT their minis (this is my speculation, of course, based off of personal conversations and information - I have no way of proving this.) But any time I've found these minis over the past several years, people wanted real cash for them. I do believe, however, that there are a small few in some collectors hands that earned them legitimately many, many years ago when they were actually affordable through in-game means.
The ones who are truly affected by this are the ones who paid real money for them, and for them, I have no remorse. As far as the legitimate owners go, well I'd like to hear what they think. Many of them have had their minis exclusively for 10 years+ and are truly collectors and held on to them for sentimental value and not for the purpose of flipping them for real dollars - so in that instance I'm not even sure this update effects them.
Personally, I'm glad I get to have my minis back - although it's bittersweet because A) It's 13 years later, B) Justice was never served, and C) The new mini are not exactly the same because they're untradeable.
Maybe I'm showing my cards here but I'm glad to be able to finally dedicate these minis and move on. Yes, I'd still like a "real" Kanaxai, MKG, etc. but no way am I going to spend all my hard-earned armbraces from the past 13 years on them now.
So take it from a true collector - yes, these minis will maintain some semblance of value as there will always be demand by guys like me - BUT they will never reach March 2025 prices (whatever real world-converted-price-to-armbraces price that is) because people like me will never pay them, and the RMT'ers will never see them as a safe investment anymore.
In fact, I'm still willing to pay 1000 arms. Any takers?
Very Eloquently put ACWhammy, and very spot on. I am sorry to hear of your hack all those years ago.
I have seen quite the decrease in bots recently across the game, except for a few places, although it is much more rare to spot them. It seems the team is actually putting an effort into getting rid of them from what I have seen, and let's hope it persists.
Display MoreAll this did was give fuel to the toxic lowlifes in guild wars imo. Baffles me the childishness of once kids now adults in a 25yr old game lol
Prices will level out eventually. it's not even known what players will have to go through yet to get these minis etc.
Prime example below & 10 fold in kam lately. So Anet has a bad habit of screwing with the mini prices mostly in GW2. What happened in this event upcoming is prime example.
Anytime a mini holds Any type of value in gw2 someone complains & cries to support then they release them to the public for some form of their RMT Gem currency. mostly black lion statuettes out of black lion chests.
Anet doesn't actually care about the people playing the game. Past practice shows this.
Is your vision so blurry from the tears in your eyes that you can't even identify what anniversary we are dawning upon? I'm guessing you had some mini pets stashed away buddy..
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I feel Stephen did a great job listening to the community, everyone's been talking about this for the past 3 years. Should have paid attention to what the community was asking for!
Update -- April 10, 2025
For Steam Deck.
That's wicked cool. Might have to get myself a steamdeck
The toxicity is not unwarranted, sorry to those caught in the crossfire who are innocent of the plague this has caused to the economy over the past 3 years and RWTing developed from this. That said, finally a depletion of those who have been dumping irl into, hoarding, and selling gold, all which is directly correlated to the minis. Most of these end up being bought or sold for irl cash so it’s about time it was nipped in the butt per-say. GG
The coping is real with these minipet people... Anyways
I got 55E on it
I asked them in party chat about any plans for 20th anniversary, and they said we should be getting new quests, including rewards of rare minipets that haven’t been available for years! Really awesome to see the ANET team online and interacting with the community!
This guy actually said exactly what they were going to do lol anet dev troll?
you maybe thought about the untradeable copies of the pets?
maybe they are not only not tradeable. Maybe you also can see it in their outer look? i was thinking about a "ghosty" version. Maybe like the celestial version of a kuuna und the real kuuna ...
That wishful thinking and serious coping there
Well see, there is that last line "And you'll want to keep an eye out for some other rare drops."
Maybe we get reindeers at drops and OS weps? or other minis
But what makes me wonder most is the line of randomized drops and ranges of mods, could this mean the skins drop OS in tyria/cantha and insc in nf and eotn? And do they also drop in pre ???And do they drop in q8 then in the relevant areas (sword/shield/focus)
I’m thinking they will, I need me a req8 expertise chimperic prism with a +30 mod
Yeehaw, even more excited eventho its quite what was expected
i get to finally get a chimeric prism too
Bahahahaahahahahhaha GG mini pet nubs! Finally I can get my IG back lul alittle disappointed I can’t get a frog!
Wtb unded IG 50e
IF they do in fact bring back q7, q8, DR, etc to the global drop table, it would only be fair to bring back the key less chests too. Personally I'd like a coupon to make an item of my choice unconditional. xD
Side note, I would absolutely LOVE to see Team Arena's make a return. That was some wonderful content right there that should have never been changed. It'd be a huge trip down memory lane, and something everyone would get excited about. Hoping that was a teaser, and not just someone slapping a random image up. Please PvP updates for the 20th!!!!
If this image has a purpose: I could think of introducing an embark-like pvp outpost
They have since deleted the twitter post, and reuploaded with a picture of lions arch instead
weakk
Granted, it took about 220 birthday boxes to get it. Maybe a few more. Still, beats Mad King #9, Charr Shaman #12, or Nian #15
Fun fact, disregarding the Shiro'ken Assassin, the least common drops I got from the boxes were MOX and Zhu Hanuku (both 3x), followed by the Flowstone Elemental (4x). The most common ones (seemed) to be Koss and Candysmith Marley, but I didn't count all of those.
May be a phenomenon, but I’ve noticed if I open the gifts on a certain character they give me the same mini pet. I’ve gotten 4 zunukus or w.e they are called on my warrior, 3 flowstones on my derv, and 4 bone dragons on my ranger. Strange
Ecto, In the end some pay 100a for single mod q8 staffs also. This is much rarer than most q8 10% staff that regularly hit 50a mark.
For years ive personally sold prenerf 1mod shields wands and offhands, even Core skins 10-20a each, think seen some rare skins like magma etc sell even higher here in legacy and exalted is among rarest prenerf skins around. It might aswell go higher
Dont need to be smoking to know what ppl willing pay, but as usual post for sale to find out
Pekki ensuring his entire single mod stash is holding its value so he can peddle it to the poor suckers who get tricked into paying 10a for a singlemod..
May the best chimp win is right, less than 10a is my price check for the ugly duckling
Annoy Red Fireball You Say,
Imagen his storage had a nasty fire, all of his shields would burn to ashes as he watches helpless to save any of themRed Fireball watching his Storage and shields go up in Smoke.

Red Fireball sorry mate.
Only a little man with a TiniWeni could think of such atrocious things… dw red I will defend your towers and defenders with my life!
Someone showed me how to do this the other day! I don't recall the time we completed it in, but it was astonishingly fast.
Nice hammr and rod compatriot!
Thats a sick drop

Woah bro chill, that fuzzy maths is already too complicated
