New gameplay type „respecting skills”

  • Hello dear GW fans :whistling:

Enjoying guilds wars sometimes makes you wanna try new ideas to spice up gameplay. Being Ironman enjoyer still I like to play my regular account with all stuff that makes playing smoother.

What I thought about this time which I’m sure some one did before is playing character from start with intention to finish GWAMM title limiting myself to skills and profession from current campaign. This way I myself would use more build variety as well as my heroes would change more often. Let’s name this gameplay challenge - „Respecting Skills”. Of course you could add another options like deathless, iron making it harder. For eotn proph + eotn skills would be my choice. This rule also includes pve only skills.

P.S. this gameplay style forces player to be core campaign but starting campaign could be any as It doesn’t have to be in order. All depends on player as long as you respect skills from current campaign !

Removing core skills could be very challenging too 🫣

Let me know what you think about it and of course if you wanna try this.
I’m summoning my friend and build master Gentleman Xander

Another person that I would summon for this challenge is king of deathless GWAMM’s Cataphract

Let me know what do you guy think and if you wanna give it a try 🔥

  • I like the idea, but is your plan mercs or heroes once you get them?

If we’re doing a skill challenge, I’d also put a limit on the amount of 2nd profession skills (for example max 2 per bar, or a 16 limit for the whole team or something)

I think merc re okey but I would use both

Edit. 2 cap limit per build sounds like great idea to block standard meta necro healer for example and make use of monks core and maybe dervs and rt in their campaigns Gentleman Xander

  • I'm on a challenge exactly like this, though it's with a little side-note: I use mercenary heroes (1 of each profession, except in Prophecies where I can have two duplicates to form a party of 8), and all these heroes can only use skills that I obtained on this specific character.

Other rules are akin to the Ironman challenge: no trading, no storage, no consumables, and only team up with people as long as they are also "respecting skills".

So far I'm focusing on all Tyrian content, and I can tell you that it's not an easy challenge! Getting Protector was fairly straightforward, but hard mode content gets very hard very quickly.

For now I've put this challenge on pause because life is a bit hectic I needed something that's less intense to relax with. :D
