I have looked into this, but it's not something that I can implement easily (or soon).
That's not to say that I'm not considering doing this or adding this - just that it won't be something that I can quickly do.

Right now, we are using MyBB (which is really great forum software!), and they're actively working on MyBB2.
The features that are going to go in there are found here: https://community.mybb.com/forum-193.htmlUnfortunately, I don't know when it's going to be released - but until MyBB2 comes around, changes like this would take a bit too much work to justify...
sorry!
-
I'll have to take a good look into this soon
However, I'm currently quite swamped in things I have to do (both work-related as in my private life). While I would love to check out everything directly, I fear I no longer have that time
This looks like something really neat though and I'll look into it this evening :). The current discord for Legacy is quite active and is more a chat - it hasn't got any other features.
I wouldn't mind merging the Discords though, as I'm not able to keep an eye on both the Legacy site and the Discord ;).So yes, I do encourage this and I think merging would be a great idea - renebulous, I'll get in touch with you
-
finally I got a little time and here is the updated listvisible.I´d propose some convenient changes - if that is possible (I´m not at all into this end of programming...):
a) maybe alternating color background for the rows
b) smaller height for the rows so the entire table doesn´t spread too far (with above idea it should be even better possible to have an overview)
c) Lines between cells and around the entire table - I see, the th version will do exactly that, but the text colour is too faint there
d) some options to highlight column and row descriptions
ok, I realised point c) and d) would be fixed by: 1. keeping lines with the td cells and 2. making the font black on the th cells
also does the table=5 mean anything? It has bothered me on guildwarsguru for a long time, as the 5 just seems to be a title for the table which is nowhere shown...
I'll look into all of those, but to be honest I've got a quite hefty to-do list already, so it may take a while.
a) I haven't added any styling to the tables yet - it's still the default theme styling. I'll look into it when I can
b) Same as above, I'll need to modify the styling of it
c) Same as above
d) Could do that
The table=5 indicates how big your table is. Putting it on 100 will let the table take the entire width, 50% half of it, etc.. -
Technically I heard it's because Trump was picked winner, even though he can't possibly be amongst the winners.
Always those computer glitches.. (mods, feel free to delete this post!)Well, he didn't win and is now blaming the Mexicans for taking his Grawls. Our legal department is looking into it.

Hello everybody,
We have a delay in announcing the Wintersday contest winners (caused by me - I'm sorry!).
We'll try to announce the winners this weekend.
Sorry!

I've been keeping my GW1 fire alive by coming here and the FB pages (and playing ofc), one thing that I love to do is read about people's love for the game and their past experiences, how its affected them in real life, etc... On occasion, I'll meet a random GW lover in real life and we can get lost in conversation until we run out of time. Once I read a reddit post where people gave their GW Testimonials about why they love the game, etc. Some of them were pretty deep and I could relate, It's cool when other people understand how you feel about something and/or share the same experiences. I would love to see a forum called "Lengthy Guild Wars Testimonials" lol (or something to that effect.) I considered starting yet ANOTHER FB group on this, but I think this is more of an appropriate place and also another good way to plug the site. Everyone loves to tell their story and see what their friends have to say.. Just an Idea.Something like this is already in the works and is slated to be released around April

Hi there !
I have an account that, I don't know why, GW says that it doesn't exist, what's weird is : when I put the connection info (email and character name) and then a bad password it's just : you enter a wrog email/password. But if I put the right password, it appears : error 021 email not found. How can I try to take it back, since GW 1 support didn't respond to me ?
Have you tried resetting it on the ArenaNet account site? https://account.arena.net/login
Both GW1 accounts and GW2 accounts are linked... That way you could try to recover your password - what happens if you try to reset the password there? -
Hello everybody!
Yesterday, Max sent me an image. It showed that we have reached 700 members, which is absolutely colossal and happened only a few weeks after we hit 600.
We've been growing quite a lot over the course of the last few months and I just wanted to say thanks to all of you - we couldn't have done it without you guys! Thanks for everything, we'll be doing our best to make this site as good as we can make it!
Yours truly,
Kevin
-
Hello! Never heard of this fansite before but I am glad I found it through reddit! I was wondering if there are any account age restrictions for entering the contest (as I just made an account due to never having heard of site before). ThankThere is no account age restriction in place
Good luck!
-
Working on that tan!
-
I've actually seen 4 of them already, but I'll withdraw from the competition since I'm one of the judges...
-
So if I'm reading you right, you want the entirety of the rules flashing red and white in individual letters the size of your screen really really fast before you proceed...I'll see what I can do.
Implemented per Max his advice.
Hola,I have no issues with the guidelines, except for the fact I need to scroll so far whenever I go to the Xunlai Market. Which I find extremely annoying. Might it be possible to put them behind a spoiler or what ever? I get that you want people to read the rules, but the people who want to read the rules will click a link, but the people who don't want to read the rules don't read them anyway. Even if you make a pop up with the rules they will just scroll down and close it.
Conclusion: People who want to read the rules, will read them anyway. People who don't want to read the rules, won't read them anyway. People who already read the rules, just find it annoying at this point.
~Emma
Nah, joking. You're right, it's a massive wall of text - I have hidden it behind a spoiler tag - it's easy to find but won't take all of your screen away.

This is great news. I was unable to participate during the original time frame. Thanks for hosting this, and for the extension! No problem and good luck!
The original timeframe was a bit too narrow, it was chosen to run the same period as the in-game festival, but due to several reasons we felt it was right to extend it.
We're curious what you guys can come up with! -
Hey hey everybody, like Max says we've decided to extend the deadline (loving the submissions so far!).
The new deadline will be the 16th of January. Good luck all!
-
I would also like to extend my wishes to all of you! Happy holidays!
-
We've received your entry
it counts, so no needs to worry!
-
front page is screwed up - I had to zoom out to 67% compared to 100% pre site updateTook a while longer but should be fixed now!
-
Yeah...So basically I reset my password back in March but stupid me forgot to write it down and it's all but forgotten now. I did play GW2 briefly with my GW1 HoM hooked up to it, but I can't find the serial code anywhere, which you need for password reset.
I submitted a support ticket, but I truly cannot find any information to speed up the process.
You need a GW2 serial and not GW1 right?
Thanks everyone!
Since the GW1 accounts are linked to GW2 accounts (which are now called ArenaNet accounts), you might be able to reset using this: https://account.arena.net/password-reset
I don't know if you've tried that and that that asked for the password, but that would be the fastest way.Password resets with GW2 on them will probably go a bit faster I guess.
-
front page is screwed up - I had to zoom out to 67% compared to 100% pre site updateI didn't have the time this weekend to fix it, but I'll try to do it today. Sorry for the delay! :3
Awesome! Thank you guys for the effort and the gifts that were sent to ANet
I'll be glad to participate.
Thanks for the contest and to Anet for the gifts
I'll try to make something as well!
Will try and participate in this. Thanks, Legacy team! Thanks for all the positive reactions! We've been working on this since early November and so much work went in it, so it's really awesome to see all the positive reactions!
I can't wait to see the first submissions!- Kev

Our first year is coming to a close!
2016, it has been something! Our very first year has flown and we've grown quite a lot over the last year!
From our humble beginnings in a Facebook chat to a proud fansite with over 600 (and counting!) members and over 2300 posts! We're really proud on what we've achieved together with all of you.
In order to celebrate what we have already achieved and to celebrate the Wintersday festival, we will be giving away 5 gifts to the lucky winners of our first contest!
We're still keeping it a secret what we're giving away - but Max has been way too excited for this, so you know it's good! We will unwrap the gift soon...
Our thanks go out to ArenaNet for providing the gifts that we will be giving away!
You can participate between the 19th of December 2016 until the 16th of January 2016.What can you win?
5 x Miniature Grawl
(Ain't he cute?)The contest
So, what do you have to do in order to join the contest?
The idea of this contest is that we're planning to spread some Guild Wars cheer into the real world - the contest itself is very simple: print out an image of a Guild Wars character/NPC or monster, cut it out and place them somewhere and photograph it.
For example, you could take out Prince Bokka the Magnificent on a romantic date to a restaurant or you could take a henchman on an adventure somewhere.
Try to be as creative as you can be and you might win!
We do expect you to print and cut-out a character/NPC (or multiple ones), Photoshopping them in isn't what this contest is about and will not be accepted. How to participate?
Participating in this contest is easy - all you need is an account to Guild Wars Legacy.- In order to join, you will need to submit your image as an attachment to the contest-thread. Once it's live, you'll find the link to it on this page.
- Once you've submitted an image, you are officially entered.
- You can submit as many images as you want, but you can only win 1 prize per person.
Rules
The rules are as following:- All staff of Guild Wars Legacy is exempt of participating in this contest.
- A Guild Wars Legacy account is required.
- You can submit as many images as you want, but you can only win 1 prize per person.
- A single person can only use a single account to enter. We won't send multiple prizes to the same address.
- Should you win we will contact you in order to get all details required to get the prize to you. If we don't get a reply within a week the prize will go to the runner-up. Emails about this will be sent from
- The winners and runner ups will be decided by the Guild Wars Legacy staff.
- You can participate between the 19th of December 2016 until the 16th of January 2016.
- Winners will be contacted by mail.
- Images used must be from Guild Wars, Guild Wars: Factions; Guild Wars: Nightfall or Guild Wars: Eye of the North. Images from Guild Wars 2 will not be accepted and neither will images from any other game.
- The contest is open to participants worldwide. In the case of shipping costs, Guild Wars Legacy will try to cover these. If these costs should be exorbitant, we will contact you for a solution.
How to submit an entry?
In order to submit an entry, you will need to open up a new thread. The image you want to submit should be attached as an attachment.
The size limit is 2 MB per entry. If your image is too big, use an image compressor online (http://compresspng.com/ | http://compressjpeg.com/nl/)Don't post multiple entries per thread - open up a new entry per thread please to keep it easier for us to find entries.
If you submit multiple entries in one thread, only the last submission will count.Good luck, and may the odds be ever in your favor!
-
Kevin: if you mean the increasing of traffic at that very exact site, I'd prefer it not to, and have the reference mentioned only within this thread. You're welcome, Marty.
I mean hosting it myself on a server so it lowers traffic on yours. I'd also make it searchable..
-
You're welcome, as today is the day to place the corresponding mark:
http://www.sotzone.ru/gw/guildwarsguru/The whole archive will be remaining there for one month (and may be a little bit more). The only thing which isn't out there is a part of the Selling section in between the February of 2006 and the April of 2009. The rest of the threads are all there, so pretty much, the entire forum.
Is it okay for me to mirror this?
-
front page is screwed up - I had to zoom out to 67% compared to 100% pre site updateHey hummin, I'm aware of this - it's going to get fixed tomorrow.
It's being caused by the Wintersday banner, I'm going to change the implementation tomorrow.- Kev
-
Since you've all been so patient while we've been teasing you so hard... we're giving this a little early as a little gift and thanks to you all! (and sorry for the teasing...)
We're very proud to announce that Guild Wars Legacy has hit 625 members and nearly 2300 posts in a little over 6 months!
It's something that we are immensely proud of, and we've been teasing you over the past few weeks for something... And I'm really proud to announce that we're organizing our very first contest AND that the prizes we will be giving away are graciously being provided by ArenaNet!
What we'll be giving away is going to be a secret for a few more days, but believe me, it has gotten Max excited for as long as he's known what it is... you're all going to like it!Our contest will start on the 19th of December and will run until the 2nd of January - read up on the rules and what you'll need to do on https://wintersday.guildwarslegacy.com/ - submissions will be allowed starting on the 19th.
The submissions will happen on a seperate part of the forums.
Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor! -
Hey all, I received a message from ArenaNet that they're going to perform server maintenance:
QuoteI wanted to let you know that our server team is going to be performing maintenance on Guild Wars starting at approximately 9:00 AM Pacific this morning. We do not expect any downtime, however players will see that they are pulling files as if there was a game update. This is a process of ensuring that our update system is working properly but there is in fact nothing changing in the game at this time.
So, that's the reason for the update
Kev
-
So what's the news? You'll have to wait, but it's oh so close.. Check Twitter/Facebook..
-
Thanks for giving us the option to pick our favorite theme!! Black background is my fav. Oh, lets do a poll! The intention is to make a few more variations as well :).
I really like how the Wintersday/Shiverpeaks theme turned out. -
Sounds wonderfull! Thanks for your hard work, time, & effort. You're welcome :). Guild Wars have been everything for me.
It was about time I paid it back for everythingI advise you not to name a server "Rurick", things could happen....
Some names are exempt, e.g. Rurik and Master Togo. Obvious reasons.
Cynn has been behaving well though, but Mhenlo isn't nearby ofcourse. -
Hello everybody,
As some of you might have noticed, we've been offline for a few hours today. This was a planned maintenance to allow me to implement some changes.
First, we've had email issues on the site for as long as I can remember. I have tried to solve these in several ways, but it ran deeper than I suspected.
I decided to take the time to fully fix it and hopefully it will stay fixed now.
During the maintenance, we moved over to a new server instance called "Aidan" (all of our servers are named after Guild Wars characters. The old one was called Barradin).Next to that, another major reason for the downtime was introducing a hugely improved backup system. The previous backup system was the one provided by our infrastructure provider and didn't take backups often enough and it was way too much work to restore files.
Our new backup solution runs on a new server, named "Cynn". This server is fully responsible for taking backups and is doing a good job so far!
The backup system has gone from a low 1/10 to a 9/10 for me, and it's something we all fully benefit from! This brings our total amount of servers to 3, being Aidan, Cynn and Devona.
Cynn is hosted by a different provider compared to Aidan, even in a different country, to make sure that if something goes wrong in our main location our backup location is not affected.
I've been able to do this huge overhaul of our backup system thanks to our donators, so thank you for your support!
- Kevin

Sorry to hear that. One of my former coworkers was in a relationship for 10 years only for it to not work out. I can't imagine what that must feel like.Regarding sport, I was talking in terms of being a fan, not personal participation. That's not obvious, in retrospect. Soccer (football, as you'd call it) is the main interest in Belgium, is it not?
The sports most popular here are indeed soccer, cycling and cyclocross. I'm not really a fan of sports though... it hasn't ever been really something for me.
To counter that I put a lot of time into listening to music.Soccer in Belgium is really strange too, in my opinion. When they're doing great, you see merchandising EVERYWHERE. Absolutely everywhere, everybody talks about them.
When they lose a single match, the mood totally swings to the opposite. Quite funny. -
ah, sorry to hear about your gf (sounded pretty serious if you remember how long you had been together).(and I cant go on ANY rides anymore--not even its a small world at disney--that one because of the boat, the rest because of an inner ear disorder). Loved to swim when I was younger too, just cant seem to ...well, with my hair it would take hours after swimming to dry it, so while the swimming is great, the hours afterwards just dont justify it---but it is great exercise!
I even proposed to her (in the Efteling, I think it's kinda typical for me...)
At this castle in the Fairytale forest (the castle of Sleeping Beauty):She said yes, but in the end it never came to be. Well, I'll find someone with whom I'll marry one day ;).
I hope that those issues don't affect your real-life too much
wish only the best for all of you!
-
I just found this on the twitter of Matthew Medina (https://twitter.com/barefootmatthe…1958616252417):
Some very old maps from when GW1 was still in development. He also added that pre-searing was added in because people found the intro too grim...
What do you think of this?
-
Magical is exactly the word to describe that place. It looks amazing. You couldn't pay me to go on a rollercoaster though. What about sport? My life revolves around it.
I know, it is truly a special place, I love it there. They have a few rollercoasters, but nothing too extreme - the focus is more on family things compared to the most thrilling ones.
The Fairy Tale forest in the Efteling is soo big that it can easily take the better part of a day if you want to fully explore it - even after all those times I've been there I can find new things. They also have 2 of the most beautiful dark rides in the world: Droomvlucht (Dreamflight) and Fata Morgana:

Concerning sport, I have never been quite a sportive guy but I've been trying to better my life in that regard: I try to go swimming three to four times a week, sometimes more. I always try to do 60 laps in the 25 meter swimming pool. I also use my bike quite a lot and like to take a walk. But nothing more than that I fear
roller coasters used to be fun....now I cant go on them either.
and since I think everyone knows I am married....got a significant other?
I used to have a girlfriend until September, but I broke up with her because it didn't really work out anymore.
We were together for 2 years and 7 months, but hey, I'll find my princess one day. -
I have been using it as well and it works quite well, though I have made some small edits to make it suit my playstyle.
The mesmers really do a good job, but I prefer having a UA-monk in there as well, so that the moment someone goes down they can get up instantly.Just a little preference of mine, but this build really works well.
-
This video doesn't actually provide anything useful outside of pausing halfway up the initial pathway to allow the Margonites to ball, and even then you haven't made that obvious in any way. All this video demonstrates is you steamrolling through content with what appears to be garden variety hero meta bars, which is of very little interest or use. This mission is a noob trap (and probably my most favourite in NF because of it) and if you want to help people get through it it's imperative to explain why: an absence of offence is as much a problem as an absence of defence. In most PvE situations you can get through with team builds that are weighted heavily towards defence - builds with an anemic offence don't get punished outside of things going slowly, which isn't obvious to people if they haven't seen what a properly balanced team can do. This is not the case in Grand Court of Sebelkah (and, not incidentally, the other major noob trap Thunderhead Keep) as the constant stream of enemies forces you to keep up offensively, and if you don't you'll eventually get overwhelmed even with a loaded defence. What people often do in this situation is think "well, we died, so obviously we need more healers" and then drop a damage dealer for another monk, which then makes things worse. It's the responsibility of the backline to keep people alive, but what people neglect is that the offence in turn has a responsibility to kill things in a timely manner, hence the THK Monk strike in 2005. Oftentimes you can remove defense from a team build and the survivability doesn't drop because the damage you include in its place more than makes up for it. Killing things is always the best means of keeping your team alive. I've seen people, even in normal mode, running four backliners. Again, an absence of offence is as much a problem as an absence of defence.Wow, extremely well said Marty. I agree with all of what you said, and in a way, I kinda miss the variety of olden days...
Something that can also be exiting is that you try to build your own herobuilds, or take a 7 hero team build and modify it - swap out some heroes, add in new ones and try out things.
It's not because it's meta that it's the only way - meta is good for most situations, but you can vary things according to your own style: if you're more offensive, throw out some defensive heroes. Add in the explosive stuff, but know what you're doing.Meta makes things really dull..
More on topic, I never really had an issue with the Grand Court, but that's mainly because my characters are all setup to be quite offensive: e.g. a AoE warrior, an assassin, a ritualist and a necro. All in all, they all deal out quite a lot of damage, though some of them are quite slower in killing.
The Grand Court is super-easy if you burn down the enemies fast enough, the issue lies in getting overwhelmed, pulling too many foes at once. It's really a well-designed mission in that if you know how it works, it becomes very easy. If you're trying to rush it, well... you might not have the best time.Reminds me of a mission that I used to have quite a lot of problems with, but that was a month after Factions came out and I wasn't really a good player back then... That mission by the way was Zen Dajiun. Was such a pain for me back then...

Hello everybody,
I think it's time for me to talk a bit more about who I am, what I do and all of that :). I'll hope you'll like what I post here :p
I'm Kevin, at the time of writing 25 years old and I live in Belgium (known for it's plethora of beers, chocolates, waffles and fries). Professionally, I work as a system administrator but I'm currently trying to move my carreer more into programming (PHP and C#, currently investing quite a lot of time towards learning more C#/.Net).
Because of my professional experience, I have been able to start up Legacy together with a few people and I'm really proud of what we have become so far - and there's still quite a lot of potential to grow further!I'm tri-lingual, speaking both Dutch, English and (not entirely fluently though) French.
My hobbies are mainly playing Guild Wars (I do play both Guild Wars 1 and 2, but I strongly favor GW1) or Planet Coaster (I have spent way too many time builidng my entrance building...). Next to that, I try to go to the swimming as often as I can (about 3 times a week), I like to go for a walk from time to time and one of my greatest passions is themeparks.
I know a bit too much about themeparks and rollercoasters (in most cases, I can tell you who built which ride just by looking at it). My favorite themepark in the world is The Efteling, which I try to visit at least 2 times a year (prefferably in the spring season and once in the winter season, since it's nicely decorated in the winter). If you don't know the Efteling, this video is just enough to tickle your senses:External Content www.youtube.comContent embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms. We have provided more information on this in our privacy policy.
The Efteling's slogan isn't World of Wonders for nothing, it's probably one the most magical places on earth and it's thematization is incredible. Just look at their newest coaster Baron 1898 or De Vliegende Hollander (The Flying Dutchmen).
One of the things that makes it really magical too is that it has a really big Fairytale forest, which is what the park started with. Even today, the original fairytales that are 65 years old are still in the park and are really well-maintained. They added a new fairytale in 2016, Pinnochio. It's breathtaking. But, enough about that. As you can see, theme parks are quite important to me :P.
I also love music, and in particular I'm a fan of metal. I like the symphonic side of metal, combined with power metal and several others. Bands I enjoy in particular are Ghost, Nightwish, Epica, Delain, Sabaton and others.
About Guild Wars, I started playing it in April 2006. Haven't stopped since.
Well, that's about it... Should you have any questions, feel free to ask
-
A while ago, I implemented a solution that solves this.
When you use an image, even when it's not hosted on a HTTPS-secured server, it will load using our own HTTPS-server. -
Well it's nice to know they at least know of the forums. And without saying anything specific, what's the reason behind your feelings that they haven't forgotten about us? I know that's a hard question to answer without giving details, but at least try.
And I'm now able to lift the veil only a little bit...
Follow us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/guildwarslegacy/), I might drop some hints there in the following days.Everything will be made clear on the 15th of December, if everything goes according to plan...
I just hope everyone will like what we've been working on ;).
