  • PSA - Impersonations / antisocial behaviour in game

    Hello everybody,

    Just a small message here to inform you that someone has been impersonating other people lately, including Max Borken and Richey but also many other players.
    Keep in mind that anybody claiming to be someone might not be who they are claiming to be - always ask proof to be certain.

    In the case of Legacy staff, you can reach them on <username>@staff.guildwarslegacy.com - all of our staff will have an email soon.

    Should this happen again, please send screenshots to us ([email protected]) so that we can take action against this and send it the right people so hopefully action can be taken against this behaviour.

    Keep in mind that everyone plays this game to enjoy it - behaviour like this is good for nobody.

    Should you know the in game names of this user, feel free to post them here and add him to your ignore lists. So far the names reported are Dwigt Schrute

  • Announcing the winners of the Wintersday contest!


    Hello everybody - we're finally ready to announce the winners of our first contest!
    First of all, sorry for the delay - I'm fully to blame for it, but I have had a few busy weeks.

    We had a lot of submissions for this contest and we really had a though time picking a winner!
    There were a lot of great submissions, very creative and funny ones indeed! It was so hard that we ended up with a tie for the last Grawl, so without further ado... here are the winners!

    Yeah - I found a neat plugin for MyBB that did exactly that - I looked over it last time :)
    I added something else which shows notifications in your browser, even when you are in another tab. Could that popup be from that?
    I didn't add anything for @mentions.

  • GWGlobal on Discord (Open Beta): Party Search, Price Check, Kama Log And More...

    I'll have to take a good look into this soon :) However, I'm currently quite swamped in things I have to do (both work-related as in my private life). While I would love to check out everything directly, I fear I no longer have that time :P

    This looks like something really neat though and I'll look into it this evening :). The current discord for Legacy is quite active and is more a chat - it hasn't got any other features.
    I wouldn't mind merging the Discords though, as I'm not able to keep an eye on both the Legacy site and the Discord ;).

    So yes, I do encourage this and I think merging would be a great idea - renebulous, I'll get in touch with you ;)

    I'll look into all of those, but to be honest I've got a quite hefty to-do list already, so it may take a while.
    a) I haven't added any styling to the tables yet - it's still the default theme styling. I'll look into it when I can :)

    The table=5 indicates how big your table is. Putting it on 100 will let the table take the entire width, 50% half of it, etc..

On occasion, I'll meet a random GW lover in real life and we can get lost in conversation until we run out of time. Once I read a reddit post where people gave their GW Testimonials about why they love the game, etc. Some of them were pretty deep and I could relate, It's cool when other people understand how you feel about something and/or share the same experiences. I would love to see a forum called "Lengthy Guild Wars Testimonials" lol (or something to that effect.) I considered starting yet ANOTHER FB group on this, but I think this is more of an appropriate place and also another good way to plug the site. Everyone loves to tell their story and see what their friends have to say.. Just an Idea.

    Something like this is already in the works and is slated to be released around April ;)

    Have you tried resetting it on the ArenaNet account site? https://account.arena.net/login
    Both GW1 accounts and GW2 accounts are linked... That way you could try to recover your password - what happens if you try to reset the password there?

    Hello everybody!

    Yesterday, Max sent me an image. It showed that we have reached 700 members, which is absolutely colossal and happened only a few weeks after we hit 600.
    We've been growing quite a lot over the course of the last few months and I just wanted to say thanks to all of you - we couldn't have done it without you guys! :)

    The original timeframe was a bit too narrow, it was chosen to run the same period as the in-game festival, but due to several reasons we felt it was right to extend it.
    We're curious what you guys can come up with!

    Since the GW1 accounts are linked to GW2 accounts (which are now called ArenaNet accounts), you might be able to reset using this: https://account.arena.net/password-reset
    I don't know if you've tried that and that that asked for the password, but that would be the fastest way.

    Password resets with GW2 on them will probably go a bit faster I guess.

    Our first year is coming to a close!
    2016, it has been something! Our very first year has flown and we've grown quite a lot over the last year!
    From our humble beginnings in a Facebook chat to a proud fansite with over 600 (and counting!) members and over 2300 posts! We're really proud on what we've achieved together with all of you.
    In order to celebrate what we have already achieved and to celebrate the Wintersday festival, we will be giving away 5 gifts to the lucky winners of our first contest!
    We're still keeping it a secret what we're giving away - but Max has been way too excited for this, so you know it's good! We will unwrap the gift soon...

    The contest
    So, what do you have to do in order to join the contest?
    The idea of this contest is that we're planning to spread some Guild Wars cheer into the real world - the contest itself is very simple: print out an image of a Guild Wars character/NPC or monster, cut it out and place them somewhere and photograph it.
    For example, you could take out Prince Bokka the Magnificent on a romantic date to a restaurant or you could take a henchman on an adventure somewhere.
    Try to be as creative as you can be and you might win!
    We do expect you to print and cut-out a character/NPC (or multiple ones), Photoshopping them in isn't what this contest is about and will not be accepted.

    How to participate?
    Participating in this contest is easy - all you need is an account to Guild Wars Legacy.

    • In order to join, you will need to submit your image as an attachment to the contest-thread. Once it's live, you'll find the link to it on this page.
    • Once you've submitted an image, you are officially entered.
    • You can submit as many images as you want, but you can only win 1 prize per person.

    Rules
    The rules are as following:

    • All staff of Guild Wars Legacy is exempt of participating in this contest.
    • A Guild Wars Legacy account is required.
    • You can submit as many images as you want, but you can only win 1 prize per person.
    • A single person can only use a single account to enter. We won't send multiple prizes to the same address.
    • Should you win we will contact you in order to get all details required to get the prize to you. If we don't get a reply within a week the prize will go to the runner-up. Emails about this will be sent from [email protected]
    • The winners and runner ups will be decided by the Guild Wars Legacy staff.
    • You can participate between the 19th of December 2016 until the 16th of January 2016.
    • Winners will be contacted by mail.

  • Wintersday Contest - our first contest!

    Since you've all been so patient while we've been teasing you so hard... we're giving this a little early as a little gift and thanks to you all! (and sorry for the teasing...)


    We're very proud to announce that Guild Wars Legacy has hit 625 members and nearly 2300 posts in a little over 6 months!

    It's something that we are immensely proud of, and we've been teasing you over the past few weeks for something... And I'm really proud to announce that we're organizing our very first contest AND that the prizes we will be giving away are graciously being provided by ArenaNet!

    What we'll be giving away is going to be a secret for a few more days, but believe me, it has gotten Max excited for as long as he's known what it is... you're all going to like it!

  • Guild Wars server maintenance

    Hey all, I received a message from ArenaNet that they're going to perform server maintenance:

  • Server maintenance (03/12/2016)

    [font="Hind, sans-serif"]As some of you might have noticed, we've been offline for a few hours today. This was a planned maintenance to allow me to implement some changes.[/font]

    [font="Hind, sans-serif"]First, we've had email issues on the site for as long as I can remember. I have tried to solve these in several ways, but it ran deeper than I suspected.[/font]
    [font="Hind, sans-serif"]I decided to take the time to fully fix it and hopefully it will stay fixed now.[/font]
    [font="Hind, sans-serif"]During the maintenance, we moved over to a new server instance called "Aidan" (all of our servers are named after Guild Wars characters. The old one was called Barradin).[/font]

    [font="Hind, sans-serif"]Next to that, another major reason for the downtime was introducing a hugely improved backup system. The previous backup system was the one provided by our infrastructure provider and didn't take backups often enough and it was way too much work to restore files.[/font]
    [font="Hind, sans-serif"]Our new backup solution runs on a new server, named "Cynn". This server is fully responsible for taking backups and is doing a good job so far![/font]
    [font="Hind, sans-serif"]The backup system has gone from a low 1/10 to a 9/10 for me, and it's something we all fully benefit from![/font]

    [font="Hind, sans-serif"]This brings our total amount of servers to 3, being Aidan, Cynn and Devona.[/font]

    [font="Hind, sans-serif"]Cynn is hosted by a different provider compared to Aidan, even in a different country, to make sure that if something goes wrong in our main location our backup location is not affected.[/font]

    [font="Hind, sans-serif"]I've been able to do this huge overhaul of our backup system thanks to our donators, so thank you for your support![/font]
