That would be great as a solution for me and others interested in visibility, but if that is a regular complaint maybe a standardized fix to the font and/or text size would be useful. That was really my point.
Even just the current font bumped up one size is far better. Right now our font/size combination is a little below the point of easy legibility, at least for me.
Add this in a Stylish stylesheet and it'll change all the post fonts to Georgia 18pt:
Quote@-moz-document domain("guildwarslegacy.com") {
.post_body {
font-family: Georgia;
font-size: 18px;
}
}

I like the color choices/vibes. Definitely more fitting for Guild Wars.The multiple browns(the darker one of the "quick reply" bar I'm looking at right now vs the more red/lighter shaded one bordering posts) does come off a little funny though.
Another complaint - readability is still shaky for me. With this board pulled up side-by-side with other forums, it's quite hard to read. The text is thinner and smaller than any other forum I can think of.
Maybe a bolder default font, or a slightly larger default font size would help?
For example, I can read this far better(Times New Roman, size four.)
Five would be even better, but perhaps too bold.
Six is definitely too far, but I hope this scale gets the point across. Georgia is a quite nice font too. This is actually my favorite font for writing, but TNR is more "standard".
If I could filter the site into my own font preference, Georgia 5 would be my choice.
I'm not really a fan of Times New Roman/serif fonts myself (though I do like Georgia). But I can create a small stylesheet for you that you can use with Stylish for example to change the fonts into Georgia 5. That way, you can browse this site like you want to
Hello everybody,
I think it's hardly a secret that we've been working on a new theme that would solve a few issues that people have/had:
In order to solve this, I started working on a new layout - codename for this was "Stormcaller". The alpha versions of those themes are still available, as "Stormcaller" and "bickycheese".
However, I decided to use another theme as our base and started customizing it for our needs.
That theme was MyIPB, which bases itself on the base theme of Invision Power Board. I modified it quite heavily, incoporating several new features (like the "Recent Activity" on top. I couldn't miss it ;3).
Now, this new theme is available for all to test! Should we get no complaints, we'll put this theme as our default. The current default, Revolution, will stay available as a choice.
You can enable the theme by going down on the page and choosing for "MyIPB" in the dropdown menu!
So, please let me know your feedback!

Well dear Sadness, as it happens, I got a reply today (what a coincidence!).
I got a reply from Gaile, and she states that she is pleased that we're continuing to cover Guild Wars, which is still a game that's very dear to her heart.
In regards to an interview, they're not able to do one now, but should the opportunity arise, they'll think of us. That's not a no, it's a well, not right now, but perhaps in the future.
Further some general things and she wishes us great success :).
All in all, quite happy with the reply and we're also added to the community mailing list, so yeah, all in all quite positive.
- Kev
I actually like that one.
Forgive me if i'm off topic, but... what is "the AMA" ?It is also the Tag of my guild, and as the taulier, i'm curious :p
Ask me Anything - even since season 3 started, ArenaNet likes to do a ask-us-anything about the release on Reddit.
That's where they posted this.
And we've gotten some new information with the AMA for the new GW2 release about this.
Hey hey all
The monthly breakdown is as follows:
* € 10 - Main cost for the server that is running our site
* € 2 - Cost for snapshots (backups) of our server, occuring about once a week
* € 3 - VAT for the server + snapshots
* € 2 - Domain costs
* € 10 - Costs for our backup server that makes daily backups of our site + database
* € 2 - VAT for the backup server
* € 5 - Extra bandwith costs (variable) (mostly traffic between backup server and main server)
That brings us to about €30 a month for hosting costs alone.
The other €10 is mainly used for transaction costs that are billed to us when a donation is made (unfortunately, we have to pay a chunk of each donation).
If we get 10 donations of €3, that means we won't get €30 but about €25-€27.
The rest of this is used as a net to cover unexpected costs, chargebacks (a chargeback always costs us €15), a rainy day fund and to allow us to organize contests with cool prizes.
My ultimate goal is to have an extra server ready as well, so that when our server would go down, we still wouldn't have downtime because of our secondary server. That's however not feasible for me to pay right now.
These costs are actually very low for a VPS that we're running on and that is because I am managing it completely myself. Managed hosting easily costs 3-5 times more.
I also had no clue about this, but I'm glad it's fixed - properly this time.
This proves that ArenaNet still cares about us, even though it's probably only 1 person (I'd put my money on Joe Kimmes), who has been a bit more active on the wiki a few weeks ago.
I'm glad that they did this :).
And that kind of attitude makes me even gladder that we started Legacy... even though Guru should be seen as lost now, at least we have a site now that's not in Curse it's hands...
What makes me afraid is that Curse has these Guild Wars sites on their server:
* GuildWiki (I can't imagine that it's still that popular, with the official Wiki... won't they kill this next?)
* PvXWiki
Yeah, they kinda lost my faith in them now.
And that's more than a week... any new updates?
Kev
I've sent an email a while back to them Sadness, and I haven't gotten any reply on that yet.
I'm going to send another mail though to request an interview... but no further news yet.

We have some people who have backups. Any idea who?Let's start getting ready to do it.
1. Do we have enough bandwidth to host it here?
2. Do we have any complete backups of the entire site?
3. What are the legal implications?
4. Can we make a completely searchable version?
5. Do we need more personnel to make this happen?Admins, let's take this discussion to the group chat we are using to make it all work. There is much to be done
I'm going to answer these the best I can...
1. Yes, we have more than enough bandwith to host it here. That's not the issue - the issue would be the size of the website, we don't have enough diskspace for it. I can set up a seperate server, with extra storage, but it would need to be funded by the community every month to stay online. Guild Wars Legacy is running on a server that I also use for other projects, so while income is handy it isn't required. For the archive, that would be required. Last I heard someone had a backup with a size well into 500 GB.
2. I'm not aware of any full backups - if you do know it, let me know.
3. Legal implications? Well, if the original content is down, we're just mirroring it. If we listen to takedown requests, we wouldn't do that much wrong.
Since we're not located in the USA, we're not required to follow the DMCA though (our servers are located in the Netherlands) - we however do need to respect the copyrights.
4. No, we wouldn't be able to do this. However, we would be able to use a Google Custom search to make it searchable, but it wouldn't be perfect.
5. We would need more people and money to realize this.
- Kev
/sadpanda
perhaps whomever was backing it up has done so and can get it up and running so we dont have to rely on curse.
If this is how they're going to do the archive, yeah, better get a backup up and running asap.
Hello everybody,
In order to make our website more secure, we have been using HTTPS/SSL since the beginning of our site.
However, quite a lot of you are using http-images instead of those protected by SSL (https).
When an image from a non-secure source (non-https) is loaded, our site "loses" it's lock and is marked insecure.
To solve this, we're now displaying all images from a non-secure source as a link.
If you use an HTTPS-source, it will display like it always has.
Most image hosts support https, like for example Imgur.
Try to change the http to https, in most cases this will work.
This helps secure our site and maintain our lock on all pages

Go, Kevin Go!Have you done any progress so far?!
I've started working on the new guild recruitment system, I decided to wait until Laravel 5.3 came out since it has some really nice changes which will come in handy.
The domain name is also taken care of, it's just programming now! I'm kinda busy right now with my job, but I'm working on it. Hopefully I'll have something to release at the end of September.
I'll start testing the system with some guilds as soon as the basics are ready and I need feedback :).
For the tag that shows character names for members only, it's still something I'm looking into and it's looking a bit more complicated to implement than I had hoped, but I also hope to implement this during September.
- Kev
They're aware of it, we haven't actually got any information that they're working on it
My thoughts are that they:
* Got an error with the web server which went down, but this should be an easy fix and could be implemented automatically. Should also be resolved with a server restart.
This makes this one unlikely.
* They are performing server maintenance, but an unplanned and unnotified one. It's also taking very long.
* Something crashed on their server.
* The forum got hacked (not unlikely, since it's running on a very old version of vBulletin, and vBulletin isn't really a well-written forum: https://www.cvedetails.com/vulnerability-…/Vbulletin.html)
* They shut down the servers on purpose.
* Something else.
Not going to speculate any further on this, but that's why I think is likely (I'm a sysadmin specialized in Linux, so I have knowledge about these things).
Kev
My current goals are to push a few more characters through every ounce of content, as I have mainly done that on 1-2 characters (my Warrior mainly, and my assassin a little bit).
Next to that I finished my HoM, I'm still working on getting GWAMM. To get it, I'm working on getting Drunkard/Party Animal and one title I haven't decided upon yet.
If you want to help, all help is welcome I'm at 6000 points on Drunkard/Party Animal.
Next to that, I also enjoy playing the game So yeah, you can find me online quite often
We can also upload it on something on like Mega..
Kev
I can't promise though that I won't bite. Sorry.
It's actually being used on this forum, it's what renders things like this: [build=OQJTAQBbVCu0tZ6x0xGcDwmE6AA]
Okay, who has seen this coming... Twitch has announced that it has acquired Curse.. (https://blog.twitch.tv/twitch-and-cur…cf91#.3s2twdhjs).
Not sure what this means for their websites, but I'll guess we'll see what this brings...
Kev
You said you loved me. I feel used.
Well, I would be the people you'd need to sleep with for that.
And I still love you Max. We all do.
I would also like to point out that Gaile is still a player and a member of our community in the first place - the second place is that she works for ArenaNet.
Forcing her into answering questions will only drive her away and for a good reason.
Don't forget that even though you're a developer of a game, you can still very well be a player in it, without having to be a representative of the company you're working for.
As such I'm pretty certain that Gaile has been playing a lot more Guild Wars than we're aware of (the possibility exists that she has a private, non-work account too). So don't try to be so aggressive towards her let her enjoy the game.
While we all would like more information from ArenaNet in the first place, I think that we should all be aware that the main thing that bonds us is the love for this game.
I'm pretty sure that if Gaile had something to share with us, she would do it in the first place.
As of now, the main channels of communication for Guild Wars are, afaik, Stephane Lo Presti and Joe Kimmes. Both of them are still somewhat involved with the Guild Wars on a professional level (https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User:Stephane_Lo_Presti / https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Feedback_talk:Joe_Kimmes) and both of them are more involved than Gaile still is (Stephane being a community manager and Joe being a member of the Live Team afaik) - and we should try to avoid hammering her for information.
Don't forget that Gaile's role for the last few years has been that of a Support Liaison and Forum Communications Team Lead for Guild Wars 2 - she might not even be up to date with what's going on for Guild Wars 1 - it's a big company after all and I doubt that in her current job Guild Wars 1 is something that pops up often.
While I absolutely agree that a feedback channel should be available, I'm currently trying to find another way to get this - hammering Gaile won't help us with that.
Instead, I think that we should, as a positive community, try to reach out to ArenaNet in the best way possible and ask if there's a way that we could get a feedback channel - be it official or unofficial.
The best way to start there might be to contact Stephane, as he's one of the community managers.
In the past week I've mostly been listening to The Mars Volta. Muse before that.EDIT: Why is this in it's own subforum?
ask Kevin...he created this...I did the reg OT threads...
Yeah, shouldn't be the case. Fixed it!
I'm currently listening to Alpenglow by Nightwish!

.....
That's actually a great idea. I have been longing to someone propose something like this for a huge amount of time - maybe since 2011 when I definitely decided to quit the game.
But how would you achieve him? Or approach this matter?
As far as I could see he pretends to be at Guild Wars 2 forum from time to time, but never compromise on answering anyone, so does Gaile Gray.
The best idea of all would be to interview him by an email, send a lot of questions about a array of things and expect honest answers, knowing that he would settle feedback.
I for sure have at least two things on my inquiry list.
1) How does he views the Diablo III success on the same business model that Guild Wars 1 has and not take advantage of that to bring the game back from the dead (PvE).
2) How can he watch something that he started 12 yrs ago (PvP and e-sport) flowing affluent and not take benefit from a solid game that is just waiting for skill updates and being f2p to take massive players coming back again.
To be honest I don't even care, I wish that either Patrick Wyatt or Jeff Strain could answer this too. I know that they have left ArenaNet for a quite good time but I would love to see their insight on this too.
PS: Don't scold me or even get started with the rant that Guild Wars doesn't need to go f2p model because it's cheap. When even them recognized that GW2 needed this model to keep and held advantage from them, why that wouldn't be true to Guild Wars too?
Honestly, I would rather have that they don't make Guild Wars F2P. They don't have a support team in place right now and the game clearly wasn't built for it.
In GW2, you have the gem store that is completely integrated to make it easy to spend money, while in Guild Wars there is no such thing, except for the external shop which doesn't really have that much except for some costumes.
They would seriously need to ramp up the security measures of this game and start making sure that there are quite a lot of measures against gold sellers, because it's already a huge problem.
Unless they decide to drop a big bag of money on Guild Wars, I don't expect that to happen.
I would however like if they would put a small team on GW1 again... but one can dream.
For the rest, I would like to ask an interview yeah; but obviously we would need to talk about GW2 as well in order to get their attention..
Well, I'm just glad they didn't do what they usually do on GW2:
* Fixed a server crash.
And that would introduce a server crash that affects EVERYONE. It has happened so often...
I didn't expect it, but we got a new update today!
Unfortunately, it was only for server maintenance...

Actually, it was a complete coincidence and I was not aware of that

chocolate or ice cream?
The poster above me likes cookies way too much.
I think this speaks for itself
I'm currently listening to Universal Death Squad by Epica (can you think of a more metal title than that? :P)
PS: to embed video's, use .
Can you give some more information about this or that, the poster above me, word association? So I can put in the description ;).
I'll also add what music are you listening to.
off topic and absurd....pwnd and I used to hang out there (and he was the mod for that section)....besides a general off topic thread, we had a few games (this or that, the poster above me, word game, etc)...it was also where we had really off topic stuff like when people passed away or real news that was not gw related (movies coming out, cons etc).
We also had a thread called 'get to know your mods' where people could ask questions of the moderators.
We should do that too :). What threads should I make ^^?
You can't really expect much support for a game that has a sequel, honestly they should just shut the gw1 servers down. Just be glad that they have the damn game still up for you guys to play.
Couldn't agree more - the game is quite healthy.
have spent plenty of time on the vbulletin modcp, while not bad, not really good either --though we did have quite a few things we never used. Was able to get the job done, usually.
What are your impressions of the mod tools here? I can always try to improve it
