    Need help! again!

Oh how I wish this was just a funny meme.

Ever since the day before the update, I've had difficulty sleeping, and even more so after it went live. I play until late, LATE night, and my body is on the brink of collapsing. I can't stop playing even if I know that I can still play tomorrow. Things were going rather smoothly and the addiction was under control before the update hit. What happened? Yes I love all the new content, but my mind just can't have enough of it! An irrational part of me wants to self-drop all the new items as soon as possible, no matter what it takes.

I really, REALLY need to come up with a way to regulate how much I play... before it's too late. Or maybe it's too late already. I don't know. For anyone reading this, including my future self, I do hope that you're doing better than me right now.

*Edit: My current solution: No farming until end of event! No more raptors or repetitive killing of mobs of any kind! I'm imposing this rule on myself! Starting immediately! Oh, and also no chest runs!

There's probably no minimum level, someone got low q items from raptors in nm.

Seems like only elite areas/beyond/eotn foes and general hm chests are capable of dropping the new items.

    Anyone know where soulbreaker drops?

Yes, the minimal level is probably the same as other drops. But as of now only PVP reward skins have been seen in low req.

Some have already reported drops from foes not of elite areas / beyond / eotn / hm chests etc.. I'm guessing they do drop from regular foes, just very rarely.

As of now I have no idea where Soulbreaker or Glacial Blades (and a few others) drop. I've only seen them in trade posts.

Okay, let's address the big elephant in this update...

Like others have said, the new Necromancer mod is game-changing! Just imagine these on all the mesmer heroes, and all the others too! This crazy mod can potentially make us forget all the forget-me-nots!

But I was thinking, is SR 5 really superior than, say, a 40/40 set on a mesmer? :/

15 energy gain per 15 seconds does seem too good to miss, but you will sacrifice a 20% HSR mod, which helps pump out spells a bit more. Energy was never a problem with BiP on the team (BiP gives a steady 20 energy per 10 secs, and is readily available. Heroes get casted on once their energy drops below half). If the enemies are hard to kill and fights are drawn out (with seldom deaths), SR 5 cannot upkeep the energy very well on its own, so you will still need a BiP. If the enemies are easy and deaths are very often, you probably won't need the extra energy anyway. In both cases maybe having 20% HSR can lead to faster kills?

On the other hand, if you have a minion master, or better, one with Aura of the Lich, SR 5 almost guarantees very useful energy gains early in fights. And maybe BiP can be changed to a damage-dealing elite. This can potentially be another E-surge mesmer or a spirit spammer (which also uses SR 5). And if you use cons to speed things up, oh my, SR 5 will be very strong. Not to mention your necro hero will no longer be a liability losing 33% health every now and then.

All in all SR 5 is indeed game-changing! Can't wait to test it out.

So what about it? Are they really that good, or rather overrated? Any new theories or in-game experiences? Would love to hear.

Red Fireball Just as I was about to say I haven't seen a Canthan Targe, one popped up! Most of the drops have surfaced, and from the pattern I'd say most drop universally in the areas the update notes said they will drop.

A few exceptions are the "greater, normal, lesser" series from PVP reward skins. They seem to have specific regions. Etched drop in Norn areas; Granite and Stone drop in Asuran areas. I have not seen Arced and Greater Arced at all, but I suspect they have a region too.

Some other obscure ones that I haven't seen are: Bear's Sloth, Rhino's Sloth, War Pick, Sunspear. (But from Kamadan chat, seems like someone is already selling Rhino's Sloth and Sunspear)

I wouldn't worry about the requirements too much. In a few days we will all be familiar with them, just like the old stuff. Of note, the shields seem to drop in Leadership, Strength, and Tactics.

I would say though, it's strange that I haven't seen any dungeon end-chest drops. With people running them for the minis, I thought there'd be more. But up until now, nada. Did the devs forget about dungeon end-chests?

Again I thank everyone for participating! It's amazing how much we found out in the last 3 days. I really love this game and the community! The game is very much alive! What a 20th anniversary! I will try to complete the list a bit more, maybe until we're all familiar with them and don't need lists anymore. Then we might gradually move on to the official wiki.

    Cheers!

We are making good progress on the requirements!

Need some more info on: Censor's Icon (monk or all), Dragon's Envy (primary attr or all), Lion's Pride (ele or all), Snake's Envy (nec or all), Bone Idol (nec or all)

All help is appreciated! Thank you!

    [Unresolved Questions]

    1. The items have been seen in NM! But do they drop as q8 or lower? Theoretically yes, but it will be exciting to really see one!

    2. A Leadership shield with +10 vs. Demons was spotted! But what about +1 attribute mods? Up until now the mods seen on Leadership shields were mostly identical to other OS shields. Also, I'm keeping an eye out for Leadership insc shields!

    3. What rarities do Arced Blade, Etched Sword, Granite Edge, and Stoneblade (the ones with Greater or Lesser counterparts) drop as? We know Lesser ones were seen in all rarities. The update notes imply regular ones drop as uncommon (purple).

    4. Can the new items be salvaged for materials? Maybe they retained their trait of being unsalvageable (as bonus items)?

Exciting! Now I must get a leadership shield for my main ^^

I've updated the list to show locations (instead of specific farms and runs), hope everyone likes it

Also, a Q&A section for new information is added

    Unanswered Questions: :/

    • Do the new items drop in NM? (confirmed in-game?)
    • Do they drop as q8 or lower? (confirmed in-game?)
    • Can all new shields drop with req Leadership (in OS)?
What about insc and req Leadership?
What about OS and req Command or Motivation?

    Dear friends,
What a time of joy! Guild Wars is getting a 20th anniversary update!
New weapons will drop across all campaigns, something we haven't seen for a long time!

    The Plan

Personally, I wish to do everything all over again to get those exciting drops. But then I thought: Why not do it together? :) So I started this thread to record what new items drop where.

    How can I help?

When you get a drop, please reply in this thread. Screenshots are welcomed but not required. I will update the original post to record the information. If possible, please specify whether the drop was in NM or HM, and from which foe (or which foes were near the chest). Thank you!

Wait! Wouldn't this encourage the bots?

Well, I thought about this for a while. :/ The truth is, no matter what we do, bots are going to binge-farm everywhere. Farms and chest runs are mostly common knowledge. Recording the drop locations might help us estimate what prices to expect when trading. It may also help new or returning players find the items more easily.

    ❅ ❅ ❅ ❅ ❅ The List ❅ ❅ ❅ ❅ ❅

The following list contains drop details provided by players. If NM or HM is not documented, HM should be presumed.

❅ Summary: Previous bonus items mostly drop campaign-wide as specified in the April 9, 2025 update note (but some foes seem to not drop any at all). Previous PVP rewards drop in specific regions in EotN.

    ❅ ❅ ❅ ❅ ❅ Questions & Answers ❅ ❅ ❅ ❅ ❅

This section lists some commonly discussed topics concerning the new drops.

    New Findings

"Of the (Profession)" mods drop for all professions across all campaigns. For example, a Dervish bow mod can drop in Prophecies. When equipped with an unidentified item with a profession mod, the attribute bonus will appear in the skills window. If a foe in PVE is carrying one of these mods, the streak effect will appear on them as well.

Leadership shields (with new skins) are now available (both non-inscribable and inscribable versions). The new shields may also require Strength or Tactics (but not Motivation or Command). Non-inscribable mods (e.g. + 9-10 armor vs. creature, + attribute 19-20%) can be found on non-inscribable shields as usual.

❅ The new items drop in both Hard mode and Normal Mode. Items that require Ritualist attributes can drop in Prophecies.

❅ Bosses and high-level foes tend to drop more new items. Some low-level foes seem to not drop any new items at all (see the following section).

❅ Foes may drop new items from categories that were previously not in their drop table. For example, a Raptor boss may drop caster weapons such as the Hourglass Staff.

❅ Items that were previously bonus items cannot be salvaged for materials. The previous PVP rewards can be salvaged for materials as usual.

❅ The previous PVP rewards drop in rarities other than gold. Also, they may drop with requirements less than 9 from low-level foes. Weapons with "Lesser" names, such as the Lesser Etched Sword, drop in all rarities (white, blue, purple, gold); Their regular counterparts, such as the Etched Sword, drop in purple and gold. Their "Greater" counterparts only drop in gold.

❅ Items can drop with no inherent mods (naked) as usual.

❅ The bows have the same class as their bonus item counterparts. All are flatbows except Darksteel Longbow.

This section summarizes the information concerning possible q8 or lower drops.

❅ Tip: When foes with levels ≤ 20 drop a gold item, check the unidentified gold value. A value of ≤ 35 indicates q8 possibility. For more information, see this amazing thread by Red Fireball.

    ❅ ❅ ❅ The End ❅ ❅ ❅

Sorry, let me be more clear:
I was not being sarcastic. I genuinely think the game IS enjoyable as always

Bots and spammers have been around for quite a while, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the game

First Post after long time. Starting of with some little ones

why are these still taking up space in your vault? :/

I don't see a single zero in the gold value 8|

    all merch :D

(edit) wait wait wait, lemme do some calculations

    Summit Axe
    6-18+8+15+10+20 =41 ≠88

    Elemental Sword
    13-18+7+33+5 =40 ≠156

    Colossal Scimitar
    14-20+5+5 =4 ≠136

    Fellblade
    13-19+8+7+9 =18 ≠236

    ... alright, all merch :D

I'm not an expert, but if you look at the pre-nerf thread, there are purple pre-nerf ranges listed, so anything not there is post-nerf.

these are the purple pre-nerfs listed

    Purple Shields
    - Any PURPLE shield with a +19hp or lower inherent mod
    - Any PURPLE shield with a +29/[stance or enchanted] or lower inherent mod
    - Any Purple shield with -3/xx%
    - Any purple shield with +5armour or Below vs specific damage type

    Purple Weapons
    - Any PURPLE Non-inscribable weapon with +11 or 12%[condition]
    - Any PURPLE Non-inscribable weapon with +xx%/-5 energy, +xx%/-10 armour or +xx%/-1[energy or health] regen
    - Any PURPLE Non-inscriable weapon with 11-14% While hex
    - Any PURPLE Non-inscriable weapon with 11-14% while below 50%

Also, there are rules for some specific skins in low req :)

PVP is mostly dead, JQ and HA is full of bots, still playable ?(

PVE is still active, loads of people trade in kamadan (crazy inflation for high-end stuff), bots fill the game with consumables, regular gameplay stuff like materials and mods are cheap 8)

Still some good guilds active, and you will get invites in no time

The game goes on sale a few times a year, next sale may be during anniversary. I think the game is still enjoyable as always :)

Make one that's pleasing to the eyes :) as you will watch your character run around a lot. Class does not matter too much because you can have any class as a secondary! Also you will have heroes and henchmen to help you fight, so any class is beginner-friendly

    - Necromancer, Mesmer, Elementalist, Monk, Ritualist: those are spellcasters, they stand at the back and cast spells (Monk and Ritualist also heal)

    - Warrior (axe, sword, hammer), Assassin (daggers), Dervish (scythe): those are melee, they run up to engage the enemy

    - Ranger (bow), Paragon (spear): those are ranged attackers

perks for each class (in my opinion)

    - Necromancer: can summon minions, gets energy whenever something dies

    - Mesmer: best damage-dealing caster

    - Elementalist: (no advantage, overshadowed by Mesmer)

    - Monk: can heal and protect (but heroes do it better)

    - Ritualist: can summon spirits

    - Assassin: can damage, can tank, major role in dungeons (speedclears)

    - Dervish: similar to assassin, best solo farmer

    - Warrior: (no advantage, overshadowed by Assassin & Dervish)... sorry, no offense, this is just my opinion

    - Ranger: can have a pet

    - Paragon: (no advantage, overshadowed by everything) ^^ play centers around two skills (Heroic Refrain, Save Yourselves), can make the strongest team of heroes, the class I played the most

Up until you say "Greenland, Antarctica or Himalaya"
I was thinking of Lion's Arch or Ascalon :D

    ...

Then I thought... aren't we doing this daily in Kamadan? :D

    ...

(edit) my thoughts: Due to work I will not be able to participate. For me personally, reality and Guild Wars are two separate lives. One does not cross into the other, normally. However, I do find the idea of meeting in real life interesting. :)

I recall that GotT went from 4e~5e to 10e a few years ago, and then dropped to 7e~6e as of now.

Sadly, everything that can be generated and that a lot of players want is probably botted right now. The prices only reflect how badly people want them and how many bots are botting them.

I agree with Red. Limited minis and pre-nerfs are the way to go. But people owning these (especially the good ones) have little reason to sell them. Whenever something comes to an auction, prices skyrocket out of a normal player's range of paying ability. If you don't own something to begin with, the only way to win these auctions is real-money trading or botting, which in my opinion is pointless, and also against the game rules.

    :S

All things considered, I would suggest simply spending currencies on things you like. Get that cool weapon skin. Get that armor. Get the most enjoyment out of the game. What you enjoy has the most value in this game.

Pleikki, I admire your collection very much. Well done.

I have to say sorry to you. A while ago on a thread about customized items I might have made you feel bad with a comment. I am sorry. Wish I could take it back.

    Best wishes.

I've seen mobs with animal names a few times, but this is the first time I saw a gold pile that wants me to attack it so badly

After I killed some foes and re-selected it a few times, it was still red. During that time, other gold piles dropped and were all normal. This pile was then picked up normally.
I actually hoped I could kill it :D

    Some of my personal opinions:

    1. Leveling suggestions: When you get to lvl 10, do EoTN first (or at least until you get Xandra and Livia, which are very helpful heroes), then proceed to Nightfall, and then Factions or Prophecies. This way you get heroes early on which really speeds up the gameplay. Before getting to EoTN, characters from Factions level up pretty fast by just doing the primary questline, so I would start from there.

    2. Progression suggestions: On a new account, the first goal I would set is to beat all campaigns once (preferably on a single character). This way you gain access to hard mode, most skill trainers, and bosses with elite skills. Heroes on other characters can use all skills you've unlocked account-wide, so you will have access to end-game hero builds on your second character immediately, which really helps if you plan to beat the game many times.

    3. Build suggestions: At first only a handful of skills will be available, so just try them out. Use the highest damage skills you have and don't worry too much. As you play through the game, you will find which playing style you enjoy the most. Get BiP on a necro hero early on, and you can try out more energy-demanding builds. I actually use the same bar for all the professions (yes even on a warrior)
    [Build=OAdTYUP/RaBaX0mMmURE3JCitBA]
I also love "fall back" on heroes to go through the game faster.

    4. Help suggestions: Consider joining an active guild (such as Lgit), people are usually friendly and helpful. Helping and showing others around is a very fun part of the game (at least for me) :)
