Before we begin, I'd like to say that this is not intended to be a guide on how much a specific item is worth. What I intend to accomplish with this post is a general guide on how much an item could be worth with all the circumstances accounted for.

This guide is intended for items that are currently able to drop in game. For any pricing related to items you believe to be pre-nerf, see following posts:

For pre-nerf (unique) items, see this post by Unholy.

For pre-nerf (rare) & (uncommon) weapons, shields and focuses, see Weapons and Shield & Focus by Evelynn Roscoe.

And lastly we have the beautifully compiled General guide by fsc1 for anything else.

    • Perfect/imperfects vs. req (Wands, foci and staves)

A 20/20 high req staff/wand/focus is worth substantially more than a q9 20/19, since a 20/19, when equipped, will not have the highest modifier allowed on weapons in game. They're usually called one-offs. They still hold some value to people that really like the skin and won't mind the 1% off, but expect 1-10% of the value a max one would have. 20/20 Q9-10's are the ones holding the big money, but as always, it all depends on what skin.

    • Skins

I want to adress a crucial phenomenon when it comes to Staves/wands. Any of these that are a "profession" skin, can ONLY roll HCT/HSR of their respective professions. I.e, a core elementalist staff/wand will only roll elementalist HCT/HCR's (Earth/Fire/Water/Air) while "zone specific" skins can roll into all attributes, excluding FC/SR/ES, thus making zone specific (which I will go into in a second) by far rarer in perfect 20/20 mods.

There is one exception that I'm aware of, and that is core Earth staves. Earth staves in this specific skin (obsidian) are very rare and quite sought after.

These items are very common and very often roll perfectly into 20/20 of the matching attribute, since there's only 3-4 different HCT's to roll. The only exception again, would be the Obsidian Earth staff. I frequently merch these items because they're hard to sell and there's more of them for sale than people looking to buy. I might try to sell a q9 20/20 one for a couple of ectos, but even then it's a hard sell. Don't expect anything much from these skins. You'll find the occasional player liking the look of the skin and wanting to buy one but that's about it.

Edit: a few of these staves are less likely to drop than other prof specific staves, (thank you Oldschool Cool) see his comment down below for stats from his chest running data.

Disclaimer: This does not include the "profession" wands/foci. Even if they too cannot roll outside of their main profession attributes, having both of the mods on a wand/focus roll into the same attribute is rare enough and will have some interest.

I hope this then makes you realize how insanely rare it is for a wand that is not a profession specific skin to have both mods roll into the same attribute.

Q9 Rare skin focus with perfect matching mods, sold for 300a

    17684-straweffigyos-png

    added: A few desired mods on wands/foci are a combination of any of following mods;

    • 19% or 20% HSR
    • 19% or 20% HCT
    • 10% HSR
    • 10%HCT
    • +15/-1 Energy
    • +14/-1 Energy
    • +1 (20%) mod
    • +1 (19%) mod
    • And on the rare skins, +5e^enchant

    "Zone specific skins"

Now here's where things gets interesting.

These following items are not bound to any specific profession, and can drop for them all. A Bo staff can drop in q9 water and roll a HCT 20% restoration magic. This makes these skins a lot more valuable when they're 20/20 matching HCT's. Since there are so many attributes to roll from, these are naturally rarer than the previously mentioned skins, and harder to obtain in "20/20".

These skins are also valuable when dropped in 20/10 and usually sell for anything around 5-20e.

Restoration, prot and healing staves would be the exception, since they do not drop in OS reqs, and can only be found as HCT's.

Divine favor staves do drop, and are collected in any combination of the monk attributes as well as 20/20 matching.

These three items drops throughout Cantha and are very rare so I decided to include them as well. Any of these will have some kind of value when they're dual modded with max mods. Matching, max, and useful mods? Could be hundreds of arms.

I've always thought of creating this post because of the weekly "what is my q9 blood dark tendril staff worth" posts and the fact that their subsequent answers always contain the word "merch".

I intended to include shields as well but there's just too many variables when it comes to them. Skin/req/mods, max/min mods etc.

I hope I've been able to add something to your price-checking knowledge, and hopefully you'll have a reference point for future questions about skins and their rarities.

Advice for the higher end skins; don't rush the sale. Post it here and try to sell in Kamadan, and make sure to give it some time. There are a lot of collectors that would pay big for these items but aren't active enough to see a selling post that is closed after a week of bidding.

    Have fun :)

Want to bump this because un-id packages are getting more and more common. Quite a few of them are for sale right now.

I'm not here to try to get it banned either, just want more people to be aware.

I want to add that I've now bought a total of three unid packages, (almost 100 shields) and not gotten a single perfect HP shield. I've gotten single mod +29's and lower, +44-41^stance +44-41^ench etc. But not a single max HP modded shield (single or dual modded).

    Now does this say anything?

Maybe, maybe not. I'm not here to argue if my sellers have checked their shields or not, because frankly nobody will be able to tell. I bought them being fully aware of this.

The probability is high enough counting that there's absolutely no way to get caught, unless you're a streamer and forget that you're live. :D

Maybe it's my insane luck (I actually recently did max the unlucky title), or maybe I got cheated a bit, but in the end, we will never know.

But the gambler in me really makes me struggle to resist when my favourite skin is for sale, in a juicy package, all ready to be identified by my sweaty hands.

Please be aware when buying, and know that you're literally leaving it all to the morality of a person who won't have consequences if they were to act in ill will.

    Have fun :)

Well, this would be my contribution

    -The Monk

    -The Sin

Now I know, full obby armor, how original right?

Well, I'm more into colours than the items themselves so I've been trying to dye with multiples of a single colour with a fourth different one etc, because dying it black never sat right with me, it feels like the colours gets dull... So What do you do? You PAINT THEM WITH THREE BLACK DYES, (a splash of white might've been involved), AND VOILA! I Call it obsidian purple, the most expensive paintjob currently for sale ingame. (Excluding pre-nerf dye, please don't bash me).

The monk is just a smiter Balthazar would send your way when he feels like you've been bad and should be double RoJ'ed while right wall blocked.

Edit: And while fooling around with skins and dyes, I recently found out that Envoy Axe, oddly enough, is the only Envoy weapon that can be dyed.

    *Cry in dervish*

Agreed with Shaggy. I wouldn't even consider accepting anything under 10a for such an item. Max +45hp shields with vs creatures are rare, plus its a q9, AND tactics. Don't forget that only warriors can put attribute points into strength, everyone else has to stick to tactics shields if they want to maximize armor. On top of that, it's a clean value.

Even if the shield are tested, lets say there is still a chance u can get a -2stance / -2ench + 10 creature or + 10 earth/fire etc...

Of course, but I believe it’s a risk worth taking for the seller to let these slip through and not bother testing every creature just to not totally blow their cover.

Just like the allies did when they cracked the enigma code in WW2... they had to occasionally let german assaults pass through just so that they didn’t suspect that their coms had been compromised.

Let’s just call them calculated losses :D

As long as they can cherry pick the +30/45 +10 creatures etc it’s still a big win.

Absolutely! The game is too old to be coodling anyone.

For every player who actually thinks like this, theres one that wants to help others.

That’s why this forum, and every GW forum/wiki exists.

And to be fair, it’s not too obvious to know that un-id items actually have their bonuses already rolled, just that the text isn’t revealed without using an identification kit to “ID” them.

    Why?

    Why not?

Why does trade mods exist then?

They've clearly put boundaries up earlier when the potential to scam is high.

The tyriant serpent axe is a great example. You cannot know if you've bought the advertised item until you equip it, and that's too late.

The whole concept behind "un-id" stuff is that the mods on the items haven't been identified yet, and that the seller is selling the gamble to someone else for a more stable income rather than the rare holy grail drop.

Testing the shields and then excluding shields that give +30/45 hp from the package sales kills the whole concept. You're actively excluding shields that might actually be worth something. And as crayon showed, you can even go one step further to test the -2 w/e or stance mods aswell.

    I've said it before and I'll say it again;

the potential to scam players this way is too high to not be on a sticky or outright banned from the forum.

You're far too liberal with the word scam when you admitted yourself you have no proof that there is a scam happening.

Reading comprehension isn't your best side I see. I clearly said potential scam. And since there is no way to prove that it is a scam, we are discussing precautions that could be taken to at least let the buyer be informed that they're POTENTIALLY buying items that have been tested and they aren't as "un-id" as they thought they were.

    Ignorance is not an excuse!

This game can't really be pulling in 'new' players anymore, and anyone worth their salt should know the tricks on the trade when it comes to trade in GW.

    Sorry but what?

This isn't a "goldmaking" discussion where you can share "tips" and "tricks".

This is about a potential scam that we cannot prove.

If you wanna sugarcoat ugly scams as "tricks of the trade" that's on you but I want it to be clear that it absolutely is a scam.

Cherrypicking shields with mods that can potentially be holy grails and excluding them from package sales is scamming.

Agreed. But looking at the market, the best selling (by far) shields are the +30/+45 hp ones. The last q9t +45 demon shield sold for 200 arms? I believe it was a bladed one. Correct me if I’m wrong.

That’s more than enough arms to be a big problem that needs to be addressed.

The worst part about this imo is the fact that in conventional scams, you realise that you’ve been scammed after the fact, but in this case, you will never be able to tell if the scammer doesn’t confess. And how often will that happen?

There's absolutely no way to know if they have been checked or not. So if these unid-package sellers are checking their shields, the chances of them getting caught scamming people (let's face it, it is without a doubt a scam if you sell shields that you've checked the stats on) are ZERO. They just have to say "no, I haven't checked them" and there's nothing else you can do.

And since GOOD dual modded max shields are so rare, it's not hard for the seller to say "better luck next time" when you've bought 5 packages without a single good shield. There's literally NOTHING you can do to stop getting scammed this way.

I occasionally buy unid-packages just for fun when they're not batshit expensive, but I do it fully aware of that I can get scammed and that I'll never even find out if I did get scammed or not.

I wouldn't mind if the mods banned the sales of unid-shields, but I do not know how they see at the matter. To be fair, the forum is potentially being used to scam other GW players.

For me, the LEAST mods could do is to put a sticky like the tyrian serpent axe sticky they've got, so people can themselves decide if they wanna take the risk or not.

My first 20/19 useful wand... Hopefully next one will be 20/20

Still a good start for the day!

So you know how people always say: "be careful of what you wish for"?

Well I wasn't specific enough with my wish and the RNGods played a nice joke on me.

    Display Spoiler

    OK so now.

Hopefully, the next one will be 20/20, with MATCHING mods, on a REQ 9 (NINE) USEFUL attribute, and PREFERABLY on a nice skin.

    Thank you.

    Merch

For future reference, there's core staves for every attribute. Dark tendril staves are the core skin for blood magic, which makes them quite common.

But the biggest downside lies in the fact that they can't roll a HCT outside of the necro class, which makes it WAY easier to get a matching 20/20 one.

Even perfect q9 20/20 (matching) are a hard sell, so I wouldn't bother with them.

The only core skin that I know of which is rare is probably the core earh staff (obsidian skin).
