• Hello all. I like to keep GW open on a 2nd screen even when I'm playing a different game on my main monitor. I realized: if that different game is a controller game I am also causing input (even though GW is not the active window) in GW moving my GW character around running into walls ect while I'm shooting zombies on my main monitor. Is there a way that I am not seeing in the options to disable gamepad input? Thank you for the help in advance!

  • months and several patches later i don't see a disable controller option.

you think it would be a basic and important functionality:/

edit: i actually somehow reset my game UI without looking while playing another game with controller, which makes things even worse

  • alright, ive done some (ai slop-)research on the topic and found solutions that aren't the hax known as toolbox:

    Steam

-this should work on both Windows and Linux-

in your steam library right-click on Guild Wars Reforged,

    click on "Properties".

a new window opens where you click on "Controller".

in the field "Override for Guild Wars Reforged" select "Enable Steam Input" from the drop-down options.

then open the "Controller Configurator" right above the field from the previous step or by clicking on the controller (settings) in GW Reforged's window in your steam library.

now "Edit Layout", where you set all Buttons, DPad, Triggers and Joysticks Behavior to "None".

once done, back out of the window (there is no "save" button). on your way out feel free to "View Layout" to double check.

don't forget to close Guild Wars Reforged's Properties window and test the game for controller inputs.

this method overrides GW's internal controller recognition with steam input, and having removed all inputs from steam input, we have effectively removed the controller from the game.

    Windows

there is a program called "HidHide", have not tested it but there are videos on youtube how to use it

    Linux

if you launch GW through Heroic Games Launcher:
go to the settings of the game (GW), under "Advanced" scroll down to "Environment Variables".

add Variable Name SDL_GAMECONTROLLER_IGNORE_DEVICES_EXCEPT and Value 0x0000/0x0000 to block all controllers (or use the ID of a specific controller as the Value to allow it as the exception)

    OR

add Variable Name SDL_GAMECONTROLLER_IGNORE_DEVICES and add your Controller's ID (find out with "lsusb") as the Value to only block that specific controller.

after filling out both fields click the "+" on the right, then close the settings window.

this does what the Variable Name suggests: gamecontrollers get ignored for a specific game (GW).

many thanks to the amazing devs at anet and 2weeks for making me jump through these hoops:thumbdown:
