Ncsoft layoffs and financial troubles

Maybe ArenaNet will be bought out by another company. In any case, GW3 won't see the light of day under current conditions. It's also a reminder that online games, and all the content we accumulate on them, can disappear overnight. That's why, apart from the GW series, I'm no longer interested in starting other games in this genre. I prefer online games with no accumulation of content and no regrets in the event of closure or abandonment by the community. Long gone are the days when physical 1.0 games were yours for life once you'd bought them. Enjoy GW1 and GW2 while you can, but don't forget that the best things also come to an end.

i recall reading quite some time ago that anet became independent from nc soft, not sure about specifics though

In fact, according to our information, the opposite is true, with NC Soft acquiring ArenaNet since 2002 and ->

As a reminder, when GW1 was being developed, ArenaNet also developed Factions and Nightfall at NCSoft's request, in order to make more money from the license, which was not originally planned (hence some recycling of the 2003 project before the graphics overhaul, and copy/paste on several levels, skills, textures, profession weapon [Spear], etc.).

I saw nothing to indicate they are closing anet/guild wars or are even thinking it.

At first, it's the future developments that are going to take the brunt. The card game currently in development on Steam was already planned, but will it be released publicly (?)
