• Hello. I would like to ask for some advice for an investment. Since i am not a big trader but i got a decent amount of arms i would like to invest them in something stable, since i dont want to lose my hardly achieved arms.

    Thank you for any advice.

  • If you want to be sure you're investing in the right items, you need to know what items are limited in the game today. It's easy, though, and you don't need to ask 10,000 questions. The rarer an item is in terms of copies, or the fact that it can no longer be obtained in the game (prenerf), the higher its value is likely to rise over time. Taking into account the time when you could duplicate items. How many Pandas are available today (?) good question, at least not the number Arena created for the players who earned them back then. (But nothing's impossible... who knows if a duplicate doesn't exist today... let's not forget that GW2 also had duplicate)

The real question is: how much do you have to invest, because these items are expensive. 1k armbraces? 10k armbraces? more? If it's just a few stacks of ectoplasm or one stack of armbraces, it won't be enough. And given the demand and supply, you'll never be able to keep up with the botters who've amassed far more than you over the years. If that's the case, you've already lost out on before starting your investment.

  • I wouldnt invest in minis a month before 20th yo anniversity, eventho its super unlikely they would add someting, its still possible :P Remember so vividly how some ppl spend crazy fortunes on vizus etc before 7th yo anniversity xD

I'm hoping that when your character turns 20 a panda appears in your inventory.

  • i think there are some left but not as many as it was back with the 7th. And if so not all of them host 25 years old Characters.

Also its unlikly they add petz becaus what would be the arts of having 15 years between the 7th voucher and the 25th , yet the chance is not 0% but there are not a hole bunch off them left to file the rarity gap between white and green ones.

And i dont think they release a complete new set with only gold or greens. so even then i would expect a lower drop rate for the more rare ones too.

Sure they can do Purpel aswell but there would be only 2 left (Grawl and Yeti), compared to other rarity petz like greens and especially gold Petz they would likely become the moste common hits than.

So it would not change the value that fast, surely it will drop enorm over some time period.

  • Yep. The inflation is the reason i did ask my question. I did manage to buy a nf collectors gift yesterday.

As i did observe the last 1-2 years the prices did really got out of controll. I am wondering about when the ecosystem will get back to normal. I assume arenanet wont really do anything about the situation of bots.

  • Hmm then i dont know. I am left with like 120 arms to spend.

Than 120a to invest and make long-term profits with game elements that are no longer available or limited? You won't get far. Put aside +1k of armbrace and ask yourself again. In the meantime, anything that might be interesting at that level will be worth more, and you'll be able to set aside even more armbrace. In short, you need to accumulate armbraces faster than you do now if you really want to talk about investing. Sorry, it's the law of the jungle. Even IRL bank interest rates have become non-existent. You have to be (already) rich to be (even) richer. Otherwise, you'll have to rely either on luck or intelligence to make a profit, since you're not (by far) among the first on this path.

  • I think i did not explain myself right. I dont know the english word for it, maybe the investment is not the right word. What i think about when i say investment is like m, money keeps its value under time. I dont want to make profit on it. Just to hold the purchase value. I hope i did explain it clear.

I did just start to think to "invest" my arms in something what keeps its value for me so i dont lose in long term. As i did see the p9lar bear for example like 2 years ago was around 50 arms if i am not mistaken, or the r9 eternal blade was a lot lower price then now. I hope i did define my words better now. My english is not perfect, sorry 😅

  • It's very difficult to say what might be an item whose price won't change over time, apart from lockpicks (off-topic). For example, even if the mini polar doesn't change its price against armbraces, the price of armbraces and its fluctuation may not follow this example. In comparison, the price of ectos can double, depending on the time of year. But the number of ectos hardly changes for the prices of items sold in GW, according to this fluctuation. You simply have to understand that the economy belongs to the rich and to a handful of current players who use bots non-stop. Just like IRL, you spend your money on a good, but you have no way of knowing what it will be worth in X amount of time. It's a gamble that's more or less risky.

  • I am catching what you are saying, i just wasnt sure about i did explaing everything right.

Btw thank you guys, i apreciate the answers. I did find them usefull.

  • On general speaking, i think investing on multiple lower range items that may rise or be stable is better than investing 1 single item, spreading decreases the risks is basic economics.

From what ive noticed over the years, after certain limit there are so very few players to afford items that prices overall do not increase anymore. so id say Its better to buy 10 x 20a items that may go up to 50a each than single 200a item that is more unlikely to hit 500a and even then finding buyer might be tough. In general the curve of price increase is more steeper at lower amounts than at larger amounts its more gentle due to amounth of players going for someting. Thats why i disagree with Neutral CH about needing to save 1000a+.

Who knows where economy is heading but current state cannot last forever cus its ridicilous imo.

For safety i would put my money on something like consumables, i dont see ppl stopping using them but rather fever farming for them why makes it unlikely them to drop in value

  • Thats why i disagree with Neutral CH about needing to save 1000a+.

I was expressing it for limited or prenerf articles, which was the topic of discussion in this thread at one point.

Otherwise I agree with you, idem IRL, economically speaking, it's better to divide these investments.
