March 22 Update

    Update -- March 22, 2018 - Added a command line parameter “-lodfull” which forces the game to render using higher resolution models.

    What exactly did this provide? I figured it was to improve the graphics of the characters, but then remembered we had that option in towns and outposts already. My guess was that we can see higher res details in the environment at greater distances but when taking a screenshot to compare, I didn't really notice a change. So anyone know exactly what the update was for specifically?

    When you take a screenshot the client is pre-configured to temporarily boost your settings to the highest your computer will handle for a split second to capture the best possible resolution for the shot.

    Well you learn something new everyday. Love finding out stuff like that!

    Regarding my question though, was I correct in my assumption about the higher resolution environment, pertaining to distance?

    I don't think this is directly related to the new command, my understanding is that this option shuts off the lod/occlusion effect where a flat image replaces 3d models at a certain distance - I'm guessing to increase performance

    I believe the high-res screenshot thing has always been a feature?

    This screenshot feature has been around for years. Can't tell whether it worked like that in the first years, because I did not play back then. :)

    As far as I know, it has always been this way.

    Used to be GW saved screenshots in BMP by default, easily took about 10 seconds for a screenshot back then :P - loading all full 3D models and the heavy file format was taxing back then.
