Mapping Low Level Arenas

    I was wondering if there was any interest in getting people together to map/play these arenas.

    *EDIT to get things started*

    WHEN: June 30th, 6 PM ET

    WHERE: Ascalon, Shiverpeak, and Sunspear Arenas

    If you have a character you want to reach any of the above outposts, pm me in the forums and I can run you from L.A. to Ascalon or vice versa.

    GUIDELINES:

    *While the primary intent of this event is to map these outposts, please keep in mind that these are a part of the game's pvp. That means leaving early can and will give you dishonor, preventing you from playing in the other maps.

    *With that in mind, we will be finishing matches as the game intends. Any build is fine to play (keeping in mind the game locks you out of your pve skills and elite skills.)

    *PvP does grant experience. This means that you may level up in these arenas, preventing you from mapping any you haven't already.

    *This is not a safe event to play if you have any intention of making a 0-death survivor. Even if you manage to get people to agree to lose to you, there is no fair way to ensure everyone who wants to do so will be able, and there is no way to prevent any trolls from targeting you.

    *As a precaution to prevent your account from being banned (which is a possibility), it may be beneficial to feigning effort, which can simply be done by autoing your opponents occasionally as you map.

    we most definitely did NOT report each other (it was during that time when they banned whole bunches of people with that bot program that guy made). As I was one of those banned (and a few others here as well) I know all we did was map the arenas.

    The problem was we did not fight--we just mapped (I recall back when---there was a group that would do this for fa and jq--before they fixed them and well before the bots, and it was not an issue then, but apparently a few years ago it was....) We all eventually got unbanned but it has left a wariness in my whiskers about doing something like it again.

    The arenas aren't required to max your cartographer so mapping them seems pointless, I could see why people purposfully queuing not to fight would trigger some kind of manipulation script on Anets side which is a shame and must have been very annoying!

    Getting low level characters into PvP arenas could be interesting though.. specially if they go to the effort of unlocking skills available in other campaigns while keeping their level low enough to compete in the arena.

    edit1: I just realised that with tomes that makes that very easy too. ^^

    Check the guru archive in riverside for the following thread: did anyone just receive a perma ban? and you will see what they did in 2015---and yes, I think some of you even posted in that thread!

    you can read the whole thread, they banned tons of people erroneously (some were banned for good reason, others were just caught in the very wide net that was the program the kid made--a BOT program...and it was not programmed very well.)

    There are folks who see the areas fogged on their map and feel the need to map them ...and we were helping just such a player and our timing was bad.

    Even though arenas don't have to be explored for map titles, it would've been nice if single players or groups could've just wandered around those zones to map. Could've placed a new NPC or use an existing one to access the arenas just like the WiK maps to Riverside, Divinity etc.

    If you think Anet is worried about 8 PvErs mapping a dead arena when they don't even ban the players that have been syncing champs for years - you need to take a step back and rethink it.

    That is exactly what we thought---(and I did say our timing was bad------)

    but I still caution because of just exactly what did happen, since they are now looking at the game again---and banning some rmt's and such.....it could still happen (again).

    Strange things happen, and the big banfest of 2015 happened........so just be aware of it.

    Apologies for the delayed response, but I appreciate the discussion that went on while I was gone. Appreciate the warning as well, but I think I'm personally willing to chalk it up to bad luck.

    That being said, I intend to attempt this sometime, so I figure the best way would be to place a date and see if it sticks. So how would this upcoming Saturday (the 30th of June) be? I'm on ET so ideally we'd do this around 6-8 pm, but I'm willing to work around with this if need be.
