Chest Run: Prophecies - Grenth's Footprint - HM

  • Hi all,

For those who don't know me, I am a full time Chestrunner as well as large variety collector. I enjoy chestrunning in NM for Q8 Foci, Shields, and Swords as well as HM for a variety of skins. I have been contacted by a variety of players seeking information about different chestrunning options. Since I have a large rotation, I decided to put together some info on my runs to share with the community. I also collect data on my chest drops to analyze trends and have a data set that will provide me insight on things such as % of weapon types that drop, Q8 chances, and different skins per map. I will include some of that data in with my posts. If these show to have an interest, I will continue to document other runs in the same fashion.

I want to stress that this is only intended to be a guide. There are multiple paths to take and builds to use per run. There is no right or wrong path or build. Feel free to choose to take a different path as you learn more about the specific run, be aware that chest spawn locations may change depending on your starting point or path. If you think my run is too long, shorten it to your liking. Sometimes it is more about chests per min than how long the entire run can take.

I hope you find value in this info and enjoy the art of chest running if you don't already.

  • Have to say i love this chest run, including the build you provided. Works flawlessly

i'll be chest running this location for the next few years until i get all the SWS i need

Gald you like! It's one of my favorites as well. I can understand how this run can annoy some due to all of the Muddy Terrains, but I find it worth it for the number of chests in a short distance. Be sure to share those gem SWS or SSS's!

  • Hi Chevy,

why do you use Way of the Master in this build ?

    Hey,

It provides 5 extra damage reduction with SF:

    Shadow Form:

Elite Enchantment Spell. For 5...18...21 seconds, you cannot be the target of enemy spells, and you gain 5 damage reduction for each Assassin enchantment on you. You cannot deal more than 5...21...25 damage with a single skill or attack.

It's also a good addition with some solo farming builds to get that additional protection.

  • I did this run today few times but in NM. Correct me if I'm work but there's a q8 drop chance in NM right, or not?

As Tongtong shared, this chest type does not contain max Q8s. For more info on this topic, check out the following list of which chest types do.

  • Hey Agent Chevy

I got a question if you or anyone know's.

I have done about 50(about 65-85 chests) of these runs, HM

    6FlISaR.png

I just run out of Deldrimor, check these spots in 1 minute and rezone. 1-3 chests each time.

I have not gotten a single SSS or SWS doing this. So the question is: Is it fixed that they dont drop so close to portal, or did i simply didnt do enough runs yet ? :)

    Cheers!

  • Hey F A L Q U E !

The SSS or SWS Shields will drop from any of those Chests being that they are all surrounded by Summit Foes.

I went back to my log from 2018-2019 for this run, out of 457 chest, I got 12 Summit Shields (4 SSS & 8 SWS).

The chances were about 1 out of every 38 chests (2.6%).

With that being said, this is an average over the full population, I had a few that I got within 5 chests from one another, but I also had a span of 123 chests between dropping one.

Other than the Muddy Terrain, it is one of my favorite runs. You can find up to 4 sometimes 5 chests if you even run down the hill as if you were going to SF but stop once you start to see the NPCs for the quests.

    Good Luck!!

  • I think you would have slightly less chance of sws and sss running here than tascas. The reason being the bosses are classed as SF enemies (drop enslavement stones); afaik summit weapons do not drop from miners chests. That’s not to say they can’t drop, just boss groups have less chance. I’m assuming that individual chests are associated with a particular foe, not group of foes.

  • Just to clarify, Miner's chests are in Sorrow's of Furnace. This thread is specific to the Grenth's Footprint location which is considered Southern Shiverpeaks. The chest type in NM would be the Shiverpeak Chest, as a result, plenty of Summit Weapons drop from these chests. On the topic of Summit Chest drops, I only have 165 chests worth of data collected from Tasca's, 3 of which were Summit shields (1.8% but on a smaller sample).

Both runs can have potential and the run itself becomes personal preference, personally, I prefer to run both :)

  • You’re right of course - I missed a step in my explanation. I think a shiverpeak chest that spawns from a boss in grenths footprint cannot drop summit weapons because it uses the miners chest drop table.

To clarify on my part, I’m certainly not denying that sws or sss can drop in grenths footprint, just that theoretically you have a slightly lower chance. Perhaps a bit of a weird comment in hindsight.

  • Super late to this post, I am trying to use the build posted, on this specific run. I keep running into KD issues as well as Rangers still being able to hit with a specific shot I cannot recall the name of right now. I kept dying from bleed/big dmg from those Rangers. Is this perhaps because of my Gear not being properly setup?

  • Hey! Glad to see another experimenter with this run, one of my personal favorites.

To avoid being Knocked down, there is some timing involved, be sure to keep your "I am Unstoppable" for when you are near the Summit Giant Herders. Perfect timing will allow you to use it in 3 spots where there is at least one Herder. The additional safety measure is if you have alcohol, 3 point alcohol will last longer, taking that just before Dwarven Stability will get you pretty far in this run, you can even save using it until you get past the southeast corner of the run before you approach the 2 Herders in the open area, this will last you for the rest of the run.

For gear, the Rangers with piercing can be a pain.

My general running shield is 10vs Piercing for this reason, but a 10vsDwarves here is better.

If you have a 10vs Piercing/Dwarves 2^ench shield you should be set!

My general armor that I use almost everywhere is:

    Blessed x5

    Head: Superior Shadow +3+1

    Body: Attunement

Gloves: Purity (this is helpful in other runs but use it on my general armor set)

    Legs: Attunement

    Feet: Superior Vigor

There are many other variations but this is what I use personally.

  • You're welcome.

My memory may be failing but I don't believe there are any shadow beasts or other nightmares on this map.

  • Oh dang! My apologies, I must have gotten it mixed up in my memory. I had to run to Deldrimor War Camp from Droknar's Forge and ran into several mobs of Shadow Beasts that had KD. Oh, is there a recommended Norn and Deldrimor Rank as well for pulling this off efficiently?

  • No problem. For the Dwarven Stability, rank doesn't really matter, you will just have to use it more often but the recharge always ends before the stance ends. The 3pnt vs 1pnt alcohol will just allow KD prevention longer for each time you use DS.

I am unstoppable is slightly impacted by rank for the duration of the shout, but not much as max duration is at level 5 for 20 seconds vs 16 seconds for level 0 Norn., recharge is 30 so regardless this will always run out before recharged, that's where the timing of use comes in.

In short, rank shouldn't prevent success here.
