Forum Rule Update: Do not post content using generative AI

Hello,

We have seen very limited but increasing use of generative AI content on GW Legacy from Sell thread images to memes.

ArenaNet's user agreement was updated in 2024 to firmly state that using any ArenaNet assets (screenshots, text etc.) in generative AI tools is in breach of the agreement:

2.2.3 Obligations.
When Using Our Content and creating and using User Content, including Fan Projects, you must abide by the following:
ii. You may not input Our Content into generative AI tools like Midjourney, Dall-E, ChatGPT, AudioCraft, etc. or Use our content to train artificial intelligence models.

To discourage users from violating the user agreement with ArenaNet and to not have the forum host/contain content in violation of the user agreement we are banning generative AI content from Legacy.

An update to the Forum Rules is as follows:

Use of Guild Wars content in generative AI applications is a violation of the ArenaNet user agreement (2.2.3 ii): https://www.arena.net/en/legal/user-agreement

Beyond that, all generative AI content of any kind is banned from GW Legacy. This includes but is not limited to images, videos, and text.

While it is tempting to use such tools to enhance posts, create memes or more, we ask that you respect the user agreement and an individual's artistic talent. Please follow the forum rules and find non AI driven methods to add creativity to your posts.

Should we find any posts from the past that contain AI content, we may remove these in keeping with the new rule.
