Game won't launch

Hello altogether!

Great, that there is still and active community.
I am having a problem with getting the game to launch. I am running a modern system (7700K, RX5700, 16GB on Windows 10 1903).

The game just wont launch, whatever I do.
The launcher opens and downloads some stuff, but the client just closes after that.

What I tried so far:
- Compatibility for XP SP3, Vista SP2, Win7, Win8
- Running as Admin

- Redownloading like 10 times

What worked:
Running the game in a HyperV VM with Windows 8, but the performance is horrible, as I cant get my GPU to be used inside it.

I do remember getting it to work with Windows 10, but not recently anymore.
Did anyone maybe have similar problems already?

this is an old game...

i play using my 7years old laptop, work fine

i play using a "modernPC" at work (sorry boss), work great

should get another pc? i duno, maybe post below me can help u

Well I also remember playing it after the graphics update about a year ago.

That was with an nVidia 1070. Does anyone else have problems with an AMD card?

Alright, here's the thing: I was out of ideas, so I just went with reinstalling Win10 and now it works just fine. No idea, what was the issue here, but well, I won't complain.

Glad you were able to ...work around whatever the issue was (not having win10 I was not able to offer anything other than what you had already tried).

doing it to me again not sure why. Kama, Ascalon won't load

It appears that Kama, Embark, and a few others may be broken.

The tip I got from another player that worked for me is if you have a Char that was last in Kama AE1, and it is stuck at the loading screen, log into another char and move them to Kama International district. Then change your char to the one stuck and it should load you into Kama International.

not american, the international. I was simply confirming that switching to int dist worked

yes international is currently working. Gtob, pre-searing ascalon, Kamadan, and even Embark beach all in the american districts are all reporting issues.

I got dc'd a while playing too and it took a long time to reconnect, stayed on loading for a good long time (did get back in...finally).

I am having this problem now to .It worked fine Sunday now it won't strange that GW2 will launch .I have no issue until now and yes I sue Wind 10 .

this isn’t what was wrong for me. My client didn’t even launch into the login screen. I only got to the point where the launcher started the actual game and that was it.

Luckily I lachend had issues in a long time.

Ok, here's a trick to try.

If ur on win10 and gw doesn't load pop open task manager and look for the gw.exe process. See if there is 2. If there is 2 right click one of them and end task.

Idk why, but i think what happens is the login part fails handing off to the game client and it hangs with both running. Kill one and it resumes loading usually.

good to know I'm not the only one being sat out , bad to know the issues are by the numbers now.

I m being told on the launch screen that I have to use the two factor authenticator to log in but A) I don't have that programme to install whereever, and B) I don't use a smartphone anymore and I'm not sure whether that thing downloads on a pc.

(somebody please say it does lol) oh well

Well I had the same problem as well. Couldn’t remember doing this but apparently at one point I linked my GW2 and GW1 accounts. Had to verify access on the new PC through email iirc

My problem is sorted now. Reached out to a.net and they required me to change my password. After that no more login problems. Hope it works for you too guys.
