Is it bad that my brain immediately went to A Whole New World of farming?!
fear like there won't be much farming
-
Yeah this is awesome. Got my first costume ever now too!
Cant wait!
-
Guild Wars Beyond hasn't and wouldn't have cost money and is still not finished...
-
The big question:
Can you get the new costume after the release date, or is it one of those predatory pre-order bonuses for extra fomo?
The fact that this is not mentioned anywhere is already pretty bad. Do better, Anet. I remember when the fairness of "Buy once and play forever without fees" was a big point of GW advertising and Anet presented itself as the good guys. But maybe the overton window of the gaming industry's scumbaggery has shifted so far that they think nobody even cares anymore.

It's legit written :

In the trailer, they mention that it’s been 20 years since a campaign/expansion was released, but that this one is one.
In reality:
- No new class
- No new continent
- 1 fixable/random dungeon, from what I understand (compared to 18 in EOTN, which isn’t a real campaign/expansion)
I'm not going to spit in the soup, but in reality, this doesn’t amount to a real campaign or expansion. At best, it’s extra content, okay, that’s fine, I guess… I hope so, anyway. Ever since Halloween 2008 with Dhumm, free content = costume in the store. Except Halloween 2026, there was a costume with no new content. Then there was a costume included in the pre-order price of a paid “campaign” that isn’t really one at all nor is it a new development, but rather a recycling of Utopia. After all, you wanted Utopia, you got it in a sense, between the content reused in EOTN and the expansion coming out next January. But what’s next?
We’ll see. I wouldn’t pre-order; I’d wait and see first.

Well considering WiK, HotN and WoC was released after eotn, that werent any expansion or DLC (and not considered as one by anet either), even that they added lots of new stuff and quests etc. This afterlife being considered as DLC, i think it should be larger expansion than those and id be happy if if was nearly as big additions.

I got so much for free in reforged. And if I can just get new skills and balancing for PvE and PvP it will give me fun for the next 10 years+ I don't mind spending a dime for having the last 20 years free fun. At least that's my point of view.
I would pay yearly the price for that mini expansion just to get one every year. 1 dungeon 1 new game mode and a hand full of skills. I am fine with that. Take my money please 😃

For me, it’s more a matter of principle than money.
I’ve watched a movie I love so many times that I’m now feeling disgusted, nostalgic, and inspired all at once (kind of like something se*ual that’s a little too dirty). I don’t reject it, but I’m no longer motivated to watch it again. Still, I could recommend it to someone in a positive way. The sequel comes out, and now I realize I don’t expect anything from it based on what it’s going to offer me. But I would have had a hard time figuring that out beforehand.
For me, it’s a parallel to GW. Fortunately, we’re different and we embrace that difference, and I’m not asking you to applaud me for my opinions.
Then there’s the price: the cheaper it is, the more players will think it’s a scam or worthless. It’s better to set a price that strikes a balance: it should be worth it, but not so high.
I take issue with the fact that they’re calling it a major addition and claiming it’s the first time something like this has happened at GW in 20 years… That’s a bit pretentious of them to compare it to Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall.

Oh NoOoo mY SteAk iS tOo JuiCy aND My LoBsTer is too buTtErY! What ever will I do? Wahhhhhhh!

Well I pre-ordered it day of not because I am super excited for the new expansion, but because I like supporting GW1 and want to let them know their hard work and updates to the game bring in revenue.
I am excited for the expansion, but what's 24 dollars when every other game is $60-70+? Hour for hour I have gotten 100x the use of my dollar from guild wars throughout the last 20 years. No monthly fee, great replayable content, OS items to hunt, and beautiful scenery. 15k hours logged and looking forward to more.
I cant wait for January!

they say that it will be available separately once its released

Fancy a name change? Negative_CH?
(p.s. this is just a joke before I get a 100 line essay on the fundamental flaws 2weeks portrayed between which type of Tengu were in the promotional video, whether it was Caromi or Avicara).
