Price Check Advice Pin - Working Thread - Help requested

  • In the GW Global Discord and the /r/GuildWars subreddit information to help price check/value items has been worked on and consolidated over time. I realised we don't really have anything like that here, so I'm copy and pasting the same information here to see if anyone has advice / comments then I plan to pin a thread in Price Check with a few key bits of information.

This is not intended to replace any Price Checks but maybe give people the tools and source of knowledge to help understand the GW economy a bit better.

I would like to get your opinion and contribution on this if you think there is anything to add/change.

    Thank you.

    Basic Info:

    Non Inscribable ("OS") Weapons:

    Shields

    • Single Mod? - Always merch/salvage.
    • Dual mod perfect? (Both mods are maximum amount they could get) - Always get price check.
    • Dual mod, one imperfect? (one or two of the mods does not have maximum) - Still ask for price check.
    • Dual mod, both imperfect? - Always merch/salvage.

Martial Weapons - must have max modifier (Like 15 over 50, not 14 over 50).

    • Daggers: if the requirement is not 9 - Always merch/salvage. For requirement 9: only 15 over 50, Stance, Enchanted, and +5energy will have value.
    • Bows: if the requirement is not 9 - Always merch. For requirement 9 only 15 over 50, Stance, +5energy, Vampiric, Zealous will have value. Bow prices are generally what people want to pay as demand is low.
    • Hammers, Axes, Swords: if the requirement is not 9 - Always merch/salvage UNLESS the modifier is Vampiric, Zealous. For requirement 9: only 15 over 50, Stance, Enchanted and +5energy for Sword/Axe will have value.

    Caster Weapons

    • Staves: Only when the 20% HCT and HSR matches the Attribute. Exceptions when the requirement is for Primary Attribute and the modifier is for an Attribute of same profession. In case of other combinations, ask for price check.
    • Wands & Focus: Single Mod? - Always merch/salvage. Max/one-off dual mod ask for price check.

I think this should say "if requirement is higher than 9" instead so people don't come back and end up merching q8 or q7s ;)

Or "not req 9 or below and max damage/armor for its req" and a link to Red's thread GW gear stat ranges or 'requirement' on the wiki where the tables for that info is.

  • Hm, I think the weapon part is too general. I recently sold a q11 15^50 Colossal Pick for 18e, which should have been merched according to this guide. I am not an expert, but there may be more examples like that?

Just because you sold it it doesn't mean everybody can or its worth the time. I once sold a q9 inscr eternal shield for 65a. Yes Arms not ectos. Because the guy was looking a q9 tac inscr 400g. He wrote in kamadan with "Offer 65a for q9 tac inscr 400g e-shield". I would still not say q9 tac e shields arw worth that much with or without x00g. Its an exception.

For your example that means most people looks q9. Even on colossal picks. And the game is so old and people sit on so much currency that they are not looking for the budget versions in q10+ most of fhe time.

Don't get me wrong GZ on the sale and i wish everyone gets their items sold for nice prices but please also be aware that there can never be an 100% accurate guide.
