How did Guild Wars treat you today?

So had a nice char run on my presearing warrior this morning. First + dmg vs char I have ever had drop in presearing so... yeah!

Don't know what was going on today. I spent the day on my lvl 20 presearing wa/mo farming Char (probably did between 15-20 runs which I never do). Anyway, big pay off:

So I actaully had two more bags drop but they were given to another one of my presearing toons. And the salvage kits cannot believe I got so many. They seem to never drop.

Got this bad boy today.

Thought I´d do a charr run for fun today - last boss dropped one purple item - it was the best one I ever had drop:

Seems like pre is generous lately - or the posts brought some popularity back there - as for me ;D

Forgive my ignorance but why are those purple drops in pre-valuable? I thought quite many people have Game of the Year or pre-order extension which simply gives you max level stuff in pre. Is there a market for those weapons? I have to admit I was merching this stuff....

Well Many dont Have bonus (like me) And they dont excist for all types. Also items allways Have collectors value etc etc. But pre has huge market. Example That unid shield red posted has allready c/o 50bd as unid (5-6bd=1a Post!) So there IS huge market for them!

There is also this:

Nostalgia / or a certain kind of personal honor code inherent in many LDoA characters,

especially the older ones who have been there since Beta testing.

As a perma pre with an L20 character, I find that the use of the max bonus items is overkill.

You really don't need anything more than those max pre purple items to kill L8 Charr in the Northlands.

My bow of choice is a 12-20 Longbow I found on 1 run.

It has no inherent at all, but with a Sundering mod and Charr mod,

it is most effective against the lower level Charr.

tbh, at least for most caster classes, you really don't even need any weapon on a lvl 20.

Sure the energy/inherents help a little but is it necessary when you are 12 lvls over what you are fighting? Not really.

Aesthetics are also nicer on random drops vs. same thing everyone uses bonus stuff.

(I will admit to using the bonus bow(s) and hammer sometimes, but my casters don't use the bonus hourglass staff*.)

Thank you for the explanation. I do not have any perma-pre as they all left for good and the only one left is like level 6 or 7. It is very nice that people still cherish pre as it is one of the nicest part of GW also for me.

Today was "almost" the day that one of the rarest weapons in Guild Wars history was made... Alas I must now go hang myself.

1000 chest project in Xaquang skyway done!

Xaquang treat me well! the sword/offhand/shield drop ratio project going forward and i think xaquang is one of best areas if u want q8 drops, it has highest drop % for shields and swords (and rly close for offhands) from areas done sofar!

From 1000 chests the % were: 4.9% swords 4.3% shields 14.2% offhands.

and q8s i got from the 1000:

There was even one perf dual mod q8!!

Idk why, but I feel like the same people always get all the nice stuff and then there are people like me who get all the stuff only 1 person buys (who isn’t that eager to buy them). Every once in a while a item drops and your like, "well yeah I guess that is a thing". Had that happen today in presearing with the idol below. It's like "Woot ??".
