    Hello everybody,

Guild Wars Legacy will be undergoing a server move and will be offline for up to 2 hours on the 6th of March.

This will happen between 10:00 and 12:00 CET (https://time.is/en/CET).

I will update the status on our status page which you can find on https://status.guildwarslegacy.com) - this will be online during the server move.

After the server move, it is important to inform me of any bugs you might encounter, since some software is being replaced which might have an impact.

    Greetings,

    Kevin

Let's keep this on topic, shall we. No more politics.

The Giveaway/scam/sell threads were run on this forum and both parties said that these items were botted and people involved in this had public fight but Only one side got banned. The way actions were taken show sided intentions.

The ban given was given due to breaking Legacy rules, nothing else. Should the other side have broken the rules, they would have been given the ban as well.

I actually looked up the ban logs to verify that and the ban was only given due to breaking our rules.

That also was a temp ban, not a permanent one. In the automated mail that is sent out after a ban, it clearly states the procedure to fight your ban/to appeal the ban.

    Nothing was received.

I also want to stress the following:

    Display Spoiler

Those items were not botted on guildwarslegacy.com. Unless they were botted on guildwarslegacy.com this falls outside of our reach. We cannot be held responsible for or police what is done in the game. As distasteful and cheaty as botting is, the botting didn’t happen on guildwarslegacy.com. The agreement between the two parties was not made in our forums.

We have control over what happens and is allowed publicly on guildwarslegacy.com, but we have no control over what is done in game. That’s the reality.

We are not, and have never been the Guild Wars police. If people were banned and posts removed it is because OUR rules were broken, and that IS something we have control over.We are not responsible for anything that happens in game.

We have discussed this internally quite a bit, since we do not take decisions about this lightly. In order to combat these things, we need to change rules and decided how we want to handle things like this in the future. And that's still ongoing.

But at that moment, our rules didn't catch this and thus we had to act on the rules that were in place and that is what we have done.

I've said it before, but it is hard to police things. In this case, both parties might have said this, but we have to be careful about setting a precedent.

So, we are on this, it'll take some more time.

no you aren't but just like liberals you silence us when calling scammers out. that in itself is Just as bad. you are covering up for them. you know i'm right.

I think our reasoning has been explained quite well so I won't expand on that here.

We can only police actions taken on Guild Wars Legacy and we will police based on the rules of Legacy.

Bringing politics/liberals in with that is just ridiculous. It has nothing to do with that.

We are still discussing on starting a list of known scammers, but this is something that we don't take lightly.

We have been made aware of accusations concerning the moderation on Guild Wars Legacy, that we would support item scammers.

It should speak for itself that as players and members of the Guild Wars community we do not support item scamming and item scammers. Nor should anyone else.

Guild Wars Legacy is NOT the Guild Wars Police - we are not able to police anything related to the game itself, only what happens on the Guild Wars Legacy Forum and within the Guild Wars Legacy Rules.

What Guild Wars Legacy does is provides a platform for you, the community, to use for Guild Wars related activity - you can post your collections here, buy/sell things and so many others. This platform is moderated by us, according to our Forum Rules that are clearly laid out on https://guildwarslegacy.com/rules/.

We can only moderate based on what is occurring on our platform.

The topic of scams/scammers has created a lot of discussion on our team chat and we have been discussing how to handle this and similar things in the future.

However, this isn't quite as simple as it seems: if Guild Wars Legacy needs to have an area where known scammers can be listed this would lead to the question: what is enough proof of being a scammer?

These aren't easy questions to answer, especially since Guild Wars Legacy does not have a way to verify things in-game. Screenshots and images can be forged. We want to avoid a hostile environment filled with drama.

At present Guild Wars Legacy simply does not allow anything like this but some discussions are ongoing.

    To conclude:

Breaking Guild Wars Legacy Rules will result in actions taken on Guild Wars Legacy.

    • We're not the Guild Wars police.
    • We only can take action on Guild Wars Legacy and will hand out punishments based upon that.

If you have questions about the choices made by us, you can always mail us on [email protected] or to me personally on [email protected] - I'm always available for questions (though my responses can take a few days).

    Hey there,

I have been checking several things - when you get put on a blacklist, which tells you that the site has been hacked in the browser, the webmaster will get notified - since we use Google's Search Console, I should have received such an email.

I did however not receive any mails and upon double checking in the Google Search Console I couldn't find any messages.

I went on to check on the server, but couldn't find anything odd going on - I have, however, gone ahead and ran an extra malware check on the source code of Guild Wars Legacy.

This took over an hour, so sorry for the late reply :D - it came back with no hits.

I haven't got any signs that show that Legacy would have been hacked - and even if it had been hacked, the passwords on the website have been encrypted quite well (strong one-way hash with unique salt per user).

Should you have any further questions, feel free to let me know and I'll look into it.

Botting does harm the game, in the long term. Because you devaluate everything, things will become worthless.

We're at that point now, where things are spiralling out of control, due to botting.

Yes, there might be a new speedclear community now thanks to that, but that doesn't change the fact that it is out of control.

In real life, we'd call this hyperinflation and that's a very harmful thing. Same for the game.

If anything, the bots need to be handled, the economy cleared up and we need some new money sinks.

    Hello everybody!

It comes to no surprise that uptime is important for me, and we just had a downtime of 3 hours and 40 minutes. Let me go ahead and explain what happened here.

About 3 hours and 40 minutes ago, our webhost's OpenStack platform was having an issue, which was recovered quite quickly.

However, we did experience a lot longer downtime - this was due to networking issues.

I started a emergency backup repair, but once this was done, Guild Wars Legacy was back online!

What should you do during downtime?

We have an excellent status page visible on https://status.guildwarslegacy.com - this is externally hosted, so you can access it when we are down.

Who do I have to notify when Guild Wars Legacy goes down?

Nobody. We have several monitoring tools running checks on Legacy, most likely we're already well aware when you notice we are down.

Check the status page to be certain.

Should you have further questions, let me know.

    Hello everybody,

Yesterday, we went live with a renewed theme called "The Legend of the Assassin", which is reminiscent of our older look before we switched to this software.

This is the biggest change so far in terms of the visual style of Guild Wars Legacy, including making Legacy use more width on your screen.

Due to these changes, I'd like to ask you all some feedback about the new theme and if there are any possibilities to improve it even further.

    Kind regards,

    - Kevin

Some tips I have to make more money:

    • Identify everything you get from a level 20 mob. Even if it's white, just identify it.
It can double in value just from doing that. Often, it will only be 1 gold more but sometimes it goes up dramatically.
Down the line it is worth your while to identify everything - it will skyrocket your earnings.
    • Check every drop with runes with the trader. Some might look useless, but some insignia's are worth quite a bit and some runes can net you over 20k profits!
I always check every drop, it makes for an easy extra bit of money.

    Hi guys!

I was in the hospital during the event with coronavirus, so i missed the whole event. Im so disappointed about it. I wanna get at least the Proof of Triumph item to capture the new elites. I know that is possible with someone who have it, but i dont have active guild, and it takes so much time to find someone. I would ask the GW team to repeat the event in this special situation in june. It would be so cool! I think there are many other people who missed it for the same reason.

    Sorry for my terrible english...

I just took a 1 month break after 1 year online everyday and this uptade happened xD im sooooo sad.. those weps are great for pvp :(

If you've got Proof of Legends in your bank from last years, you can still get the item for both the new skills + the new weapons.

Back in my day, I got pawned in Minister's Cho Estate in Hard Mode (upon release of it).

I thought, it's the first mission of the game... how hard can it be in Hard Mode?

I was wrong. So very wrong indeed.

Love this thread my friend just sent it to me :D

Back in my day...people thought that the Ravagers in Bloodstone Fen dropped ectos because of one photo shopped screenshot. It was on the wiki for the longest time too.

I actually remember that one. It took ages for that one to be debunked :D

Back in the day, it was possible to get stuck in normal mode easily.
Normal mode got nerfed so hard when hard mode came out.

I still remember being stuck in the Realm of Torment in between missions as the area and patrols were so hard - even with my guild we failed :D

    Those were the days!

Helllo everyone. So i believe many toolbox users got banned at December Update 2019 so I would like to ask if I can still use toolbox these days.... Any opinions about that?

As far as I know, nobody was banned for using Toolbox. It's been the go-to excuse of botters to blame Toolbox, as it maddens most of the GW community.

They try to shift the valid bans as being caused by a tool that is a bit shady, but generally not really used for cheating.

I've still had to see any proof that someone was banned just for using Toolbox.

However, since it hasn't got the green light by ArenaNet, I do not encourage people using Toolbox. But I won't stop you either.

And I have completed the rewrite, it's fully open source so you can find it on https://github.com/kevinpetit/legacy-chatfilter

The ChatFilter.ini file can be updated using Github as well - if you want to add in changes, simply create a pull request and I'll try to approve asap.

The test-version of this new version can be found on https://github.com/kevinpetit/legacy-chatfilter/releases

Should you have questions or find a bug, feel free to let me know!

I'm working on fixing this properly, I'll have to rewrite a bit on the core of the program I made before, but I didn't backup the code. So it's a rewrite, instead.

It will allow me to fix an annoying bug though.

Once it's done, the source code (and the chat filter list) will be on Github, so it will be very easy to update it.
