Is this the GW version of schrodinger's cat? (both dead and alive)
As I was chest running with a few heroes, suddenly my party was defeated, but as you can see, myself and one hero was very much alive. Morgahn and I continued to locate 2 more chests and open them successfully with this on my screen.
Anyone else experience this?

I've pulled the opposite and done /resign thinking i picked up my last drop, but my inventory was full leaving who knows what unclaimed on the ground, on many an occasion.

The game, under certain circumstances, does not take into account certain parameters when creating an instance and in the same way for all players. Everything is determined when the player(s) count down and download these instances. Slow down the DL, /resign before the rest of the group appears, etc.
In your case, alone with a hero that stays alive, reveals that this was played out over a very short time (even if all the heroes appear at the same time with the associated player, this is not really the case).
