Xunlai Marketplace: post limit for Buy/Sell/Services

  • Hello everybody,

We are currently experimenting with a post limit for the Buy/Sell/Services boards. In essence, you will need a total of 5 posts before you are allowed to post in these boards.
Your account also needs to be at least 24 hours old before you can post there.

Once you satisfy these requirements, you should be able to post in these boards within 10 minutes.

  • Are these forum services powered by an Asuran Auto-Mod-a-ton?

No, we had to outsource to some very capable Skree Harpies Grawl.

Thats the reason why i cant post on my own auction now for days?

That can indeed be the reason - it's a side-effect of changing this, unfortunately. You should however have enough posts now to be able to post there again.

Does the min 5 posts mean in total across all of gwlegacy, or 5 posts in Xunlai Marketplace?

Across the entirety of Guild Wars Legacy.

still waiting to be able to make a sell post

    ><

Once you meet the requirements, it takes up to 10 minutes before you are added to the right group. You should be in it right now.

I've lurked since coming back to the game in ~February and I'm curious about the reasoning on this. Is it just a problem with low-effort posting, spam, or something similar?

  • It seems like posts made in the price check forum don't count towards the total however. There aren't too many active discussions so it's a little harder to contribute without making random meaningless posts, definitely understand the rule change though.

We are currently looking for more moderators (Recruitment: new moderators for Guild Wars Legacy!) - we haven't recruited new moderators since Legacy started and some moderators have (naturally) decided to stop or reduce the amount of time they can invest in Legacy.
Because of that, some changes - like this one - are being put in place to help our moderation team.

Have these requirements changed? I believe I meet the requirements and waited 30 minutes still can't post. Just trying to figure out if I'm missing something.

The requirements have not been changed, but it can take up to 10 minutes before you are automatically moved to the right group.

5 posted threads or are 5 reply’s also ok?

5 replies are okay, it's just posts not new threads.

I get why this has been implemented but i am not sure if the current side effects are particularly desirable.

imo this needs some sort of rework or refinement

It is currently a trial test and can be reconsidered or refined in the future.

Price check should be set-up to count the posts.

Oh... Maybe this should appear in the Xunlai Market Rules?

I've added this in - thanks for bring this to my attention :)

I've made 7 posts total including a thread (8 now) but it's only showing 5 on the count, not sure if I'm missing something (I'm stupid). I also still don't have the ability to post in those sections despite my count showing 5?

    Edit: working now

Posts/Threads in the Off Topic area no longer count towards a user's Posts Count.

Let me also add that in addition to creating an entry requirement to Xunlai/trade section the intention of this change is also to encourage the growth of the GWLegacy Forum as a community.

There are enough threads and forums to introduce ones self and share a GW experience before jumping in to trading. We hope it also encourages people to read the rules, see more posts, and how to conduct themselves on the forum.

Post spam seen to be made just to reach the 5 post requirement will be likely be removed possibly delaying access.

  • So i just got a drop, glacial blades q9, that i wanted to sell. I was advised to list it here on the selling page.
This implies is should spam random threads with posts to be able to do that?
Guess ill have to go spamming a little.

Participate in threads, don't uselessly spam them.

    Yes, that is the plan.
But seeing that i came back like 2 weeks ago i doubt that i can bring anything usefull to any conversation.

I just made a price check on it. That should get me to 5 in a hopefully natural way.

  • in my case still not working

This was your 5th post give it a few minutes.

    xD

Amen! Give our very qualified Grawl that we hired for this task some time. They're very reliable but not the fastest :)

  • I really appreciate the moderators keeping the forum running and working on the rules.

The 5-post limit has run for some time now. I've seen new accounts revive age-old threads with bland or irrelevant comments, or ask questions that can be easily found on the forum or wiki. I think the rule has watered down the quality of the forum. Now whenever I see a new post, I have to distinguish if the person was genuinely asking questions / making comments, or just trying to fulfil the 5-posts limit, in which case I would ignore him.

For example, on my dead 5-year-old thread (here), some guy asked a question I already answered in the original post. It's obvious he was posting for the limit. And this is happening everywhere. Might as well give these posts a red tag saying "posting for the limit, can ignore". I think the rule is not stopping people from posting bids, but forcing people to post spams.

My suggestion: Remove the 5-post limit. Or make it a 1-post limit in the Introductions Thread. In my opinion it makes more sense. If a new guys wants to trade, let him introduce himself a bit instead of forcing him to spam 5 times. At least that confines the spam and doesn't affect the rest of the forum.

Again, I really appreciate the moderators. Thank you for all the efforts.

Imagine if the only mention of it be one line at the bottom of the rules.... 😆
