I don't know where to ask this so I leave it here: why ArenaNet did not put shields for sale in Prophecies? the only ones available are the 3 Carapace Shields from collectors and a few others from quest rewards (which are all bad). I don't remember what weapons I had on my warrior in my first account before the release of Factions but I'm sure they had to be pretty bad (the only one I remember was the Razorstone).

Yes, these drop (at least) from dungeon end chests, i think it's quite common in SoO

They will drop only in soul reaping if am right inscr.

Hey! I recently went through some Threads and saw the q7 max dmg cleaver in kromps collection. Now, i once heard the Sentence which im not sure of its rightness: "if a weapon type exists in Q7 Os, it exists in q8 inscr too and the other way around"
My Question now is: Is this Sentence true? This would mean Q8 axes would exist in inscr. too, which would also mean they still could drop which they cant anymore afaik, right?

No, that sentence is false and has no truth behind it. Hammers, Wands, axes and staffs exist max q7 but max q8 versions dont drop anymore

at least to our knowledge they do not drop. but there were noticeable differences in circumstances: no hm around, FAR more players, farms for lvl20 and below mobs. Combining this with the fact that max q7s of the mentioned weapon types were crazy rare even back in the day (unlike shield sword foc, which were rather regular drops) I might not discard the possibility entirely. plus I remember a developer being quoted that all weapon types would still drop max q8 (butthat is a vague memory plus I wouldn't take it for granted)
might be they are just 1000times less likely than a max q8 sword...

Considering after nf Release there were most players, like 3-5milj, and No hardmode so everyone killing nm foes, yet none dropped feel its pretty unlikely. There were less players during prophecies "prenerf era" and we still see those items thesedays existing

Agreed. You cannot say much about drops in this game with 100% certainty because everything we know is observation + vague patch notes intertwined with stealth nerfs. BUT after all this time of never seeing a max Q8 Axe if it technically can the drop chance would be so infinitesimally small as to be irrelevant. IMO best chance would be not that its possible everywhere with a 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% chance but there is some obscure quest foe that's almost never killed somewhere that by mistake or other reason held the possibility to do so with just the standard 0.000000001% chance lol. We do keep altering what we thought was possible with new info, for the longest time lvl 17-21 was the accepted range for dropping max Q8 and that been redefined. Also other items have moved in and out of the accepted "prenerf" list. However aside from such mad as yet unproven pipedreams max Q8 axes don't drop anymore

yes I absolutely agree that everything looks like they do not drop and I am also on that side, but I was just arguing that our data base might not be as solid as we'd think and hence I'd love to find all the underlaying mechanisms and hopefully from that point be able to tell why it isn't possible.

I have to chuckle when someone tells me they or someone they know recently dropped a max q8 bow or axe (true story, been told this on multiple occasions just over the last 2 years alone, even was told that they dropped a q7 max purple sword). My typical response is "send me the un-doctored screenshot for proof", miraculously everyone forgets to take a screenshot.
People will stand outside in the middle of a tornado to take a picture but when they drop a so-called unicorn, nope, not screenshot worthy.

I can only recall ever seeing one r7 wand (on a German site, never on here or guru) and only a couple of staves. What makes them so rare, even compared to hammer/axe?

No, and i dont think thats even possible, Blue/white q7 were able to drop everywhere but i think exalteds do not drop white or blue? (someone confirm this?) For gold q7's im pretty sure High lever areas such as fow/uw/urgoz/deep were too high to drop gold/purple max q7

q3 Gold item drop only from lvl12 foes, so if there are lvl12 foes in eotn its techically possible, but im pretty sure there arent any, someone who farms low reqs can confirm :p

but highest lvl foe is 1 lvl too low for golds.
I pulled a lot of my eotn skin q0 ar8 insc shields from there, and other low reqs, but never gold ones.
It's fun to do during lucky week, you just kill the 3x corsair grps then repeat, every 2 or 3 runs you seem to get a lockpick (yes in nm, it's eotn nm drops)

indeed - I'm still on the hunt for my first 11/3 gold inc tower shield across istan - and that snowman is the one lvl12 eotn mob I'm aware of... so far I had quite some insc q4s but none q3 - and definitely no shield 11/3. good thing is: if you drop a gold q3 shield it will at least be max 100% of time

I can't rule in or rule out but can say that I checked my rather larger low level and FDS collections and do not have one lower than q7. Will let you know if I ever get one, I farm low levels often.

Never took a deep look into foci but we all know that dual inscription shields exist like the -2e/+10ar shields which are basically having two inscription slots. How about Foci? Do dual inscription foci exist? I am sure a HSR 10% HSR 20% cannot exist or at least i never saw something like that but what about HSR 10% +5AR (ench) for example?

Yes they drop, but not every combo, like 20hsr 1/20 exists, and 10hsr/5a like u mentioned, but two hct or two hsr mods or two in same category overall like two armor mods cannot drop

they can only drop as gold rarity and from corsair which kind of limits the possibilities. Idon't know if there are further restrictions like a certain kind of corsair, a region or the likes, but just checking the list on wiki for corsair yields some below lvl 19 which means lower than q8 could drop. obsidians q7 proves that point and hence might be possible to drop them in even lower stats... don't ask the chance though
